The Food and Drug Administration conducted raids in Andheri West and seized a 1000 litres of adulterated milk today.

The team raided five spots within a one km radius and arrested three people- all migrants from Andhra Pradesh.

The culprits bought milk, poured out half the milk by punching a hole in the bag and filled in water before resealing it.

Milk bags from reputed milk companies like Amul, Gokul and Mahanand were found to be tampered with. The adulterated milk was then supplied to the residents of plush societies in the neighbourhood.

Earlier this year the FDA had revealed that nearly 25 per cent of the milk produced in the state was adulterated.

Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil had blamed the FDA for the milk adulteration rackets flourishing in the state.
