Two charged with murder at airport

Dubai: A man was allegedly murdered in Dubai International Airport's parking area in a bid to cover up a fraud case.

The Dubai Court of First Instance is looking into the case of SH.D. and T.A., the two suspects who are charged with the murder of Y.A., a sales executive, who was found dead in his car in the parking lot at Dubai International Airport Terminal 2 on November 13, 2008.

The Dubai Police Prosecution charged SH.D., 31, an Indian driver and T.A., a 23, an Indian worker with the murder of Y.A. in addition to robbery.

SH.D. allegedly murdered the victim by slitting his throat with a knife in his car, while T.A. prevented him from leaving the car by holding his hands.

Public Prosecution claim the suspects decided to get rid of the victim as he was blackmailing SH.D. as he knew that he had swindled money from the company he worked for.

"SH.D. told me that he wanted me to help kill Y.A. because he was blackmailing him as he knew that he had swindled money from his company.

"I gave in as SH.D. was the one who brought me to the country," said T.A., according to Dubai Prosecution records.

SH.D. allegedly said he killed Y.A. because he was continuously demanding money from him and also wanted to have an intimate relationship with his wife.

"He asked me to bring the money or bring my wife so he could have a sexual relationship with her.

"He also demanded to meet up and threatened that he would hurt me badly so I decided to take a knife with me," said SH.D. in the prosecution records.

However, T.A. said that they had planned the crime for more than a month-and-a-half before executing the act.

He had personally tried to kill the victim but did not dare go ahead with the plan as the parking area was crowded at that time.
