Double Whammy Grammy For Rahman!

It's raining awards in his tuneful backyard! A R Rahman, venerated earlier with two Oscars for 'Slumdog Millionaire' can now beam some more.

The "Mozart of Music" has melodiously pocketed two Grammys too! At the 52nd Grammy Music Awards convened at Los Angeles, A R Rahman made India proud, as he strode onstage to accept the honours stating excitedly, "This is insane, God is great again!"

'Slumdog Millionaire' has emerged as the sterling highlight in Rahman's fine tuned career. He lassoed in the Grammys for Danny Boyle's realistic movie in both the sections that he was nominated for: the first for best compilation soundtrack for a motion picture and the second for 'Jai Ho' in the motion picture song category.

Incidentally, Rahman was up against formidable competition: Steve Jordan ('Cadillac Records') and Quentin Tarantino ('Inglorious Bastards') in the first category. For the second category, one of his rivals included Bruce Springsteen and his song 'The Wrestler.' The Grammys have graced the shelves of Pandit Ravi Shankar andUstad Zakir Hussain too. Rahman, though, has invested Indian film music with his genius… and vaulted it to the top of the tracks.

Jai Ho, Rahman Saar!
