His character Sambha became a landmark in Hindi cinema with Ramesh Sippy’s blockbuster classic ‘Sholay’. But sadly, Mac Mohan, the man who played the memorable role has left for heavenly abode.
Mac Mohan, 71, met with his demise yesterday in Andheri. The actor had been fighting a long battle with cancer.
According to reports, he had been suffering for a long time with a tumour in his right lung. Mohan Makhijani (Mac’s actual name) is survived by his wife Mini, daughters Manjari and Vinati and son Vikrant.
It is said that Mac Mohan had landed in the city with an aspiration to be a cricketer; however luck brought him into the world of cinema through theatre. Mostly known for his negative roles, Mac Mohan has done nearly 190 films.
In fact he is the maternal uncle of actress Raveena Tandon.
With Mac Mohan’s demise, one can say an era has come to an end….
