BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 gets official

Having been spotted up for sale on Rogers’ site last week, and in the wild many times before that, it hardly comes as a surprise to see RIM make the BlackBerry Curve 3G official. The new messaging smartphone has a 2-megapixel camera, dual-band UMTS/HSPA and a 2.8-inch QVGA display. It’s also BlackBerry 6 “ready”, which means the Curve 3G 9300 will run BlackBerry 5 at release and will likely see an OS 6 release later in 2010.

There’s also a full QWERTY thumbboard, optical trackpad, WiFi b/g/n and GPS, together with a 3.5mm headset jack and microUSB port. In addition to quadband GSM/EDGE there will be North American and European 3G versions: (800/850)/1900/2100 MHz and 900/1700/2100 MHz UMTS.

No official pricing from RIM themselves, though Rogers had the Curve 3G listed at CA$79.99 with a three-year agreement. It’ll begin shipping in August 2010.
