Verizon Motorola DROID 2 gets official: pre-sales from August 11th

It’s taken a while, but Verizon has finally officially announced the Motorola DROID 2. Set to go on presale from August 11th, the DROID 2 has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Android 2.2 and a 3.7-inch display, together with Flash 10.1 support, 3G mobile hotspot functionality and a 5-megapixel camera.

In the box there’s an 8GB microSD card, which adds to the DROID 2′s own 8GB of internal storage (up to 32GB cards are supported). According to the carrier, the DROID 2 has a better keyboard than its well-esteemed predecessor, together with a faster processor.

Motorola preload the Swype keyboard and the smartphone has DLNA streaming too. The Verizon DROID 2 will be priced at $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and presuming a new, two-year agreement.
