The 2010 Video Music Awards topped the week’s cable viewing with nearly 11.4 million average viewers. Last Monday’s Boise St. vs. Virginia Tech Game was second for the week with 9.89 million. TNT’s The Closerwas the week’s top scripted performer 7.9 million followed by Rizzoli & Isles with 7.2 million.
please note: the numbers below for Rizzoli & Isles and The Closer and any Monday show referenced here are for Monday, September 6 and not Monday September 13.
College football action featuring Penn State & Alabama rounded out the top five with 7.1 million,
Jersey Shore’s fifteen minutes is still going strong. It didn’t set a new record this week but it still drew nearly 6.4 million last Thursday and a hefty 3.3 adults 18-49 rating. The telecast Sunday at 7pm ahead of the VMA coverage averaged 5.7 million.
The episode of iCarly featuring Jane Lynch from Glee had over 5.9 million viewers on Saturday night.
True Blood’s season 3 finale on Sunday averaged 5.38 million.
MTV got some post-VMA mileage with a sneak peek of The World of Jenks on Sunday at 11:15p that averaged 4.8 million.

During the week Travis usually posts selected cable results for each weekday, usually late in the afternoon on the east coast (and Friday night data isn’t posted until Monday) and he posts the links to that info on his Twitter account to the info on Marc Berman’s PI Forums.
