The Argentine was substituted in the second half of the Serie A clash, which ended 1-0 in favour of the Romans.
The Nerazzurri are to begin their preparations for Wednesday's Champions League clash against Bremen and this turn of developments will not please manager Rafa Benitez, who is already under pressure after taking over the Inter hotseat from Jose Mourinho.
Benitez could field either Jonathan Biabiany or Philippe Coutinho if Milito is unavailable, and will wait anxiously for the results of test which should show the extent of the injury.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milito's quadriceps muscle is strained, and this could leave him out of action for the next few weeks.
