Wozniacki reaches Tokyo last eight
Wozniacki advanced with a straightforward win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
The Dane, a semi-finalist at the US Open, is closing in on the world number one ranking and she secured five breaks of serve in a dominant 6-1 6-2 victory.
The 20-year-old, who had not won a match at this tournament before this year's edition, will now meet Agnieszka Radwanska, who was a 6-3 6-3 victor over Andrea Petkovic, while Elena Dementieva beat Flavia Pennetta 6-4 6-2.

Second seed Vera Zvonareva also advanced as she saw off Italian qualifier Roberta Vinci 6-4 6-0 while Francesca Schiavone ended home favourite Kimiko Date Krumm's hopes of a place in the last eight by claiming a 6-3 6-3 success over the 40-year-old, who celebrated her birthday yesterday.
Last year's finalist Jelena Jankovic was dumped out 6-4 6-4 by Estonia's Kaia Kanepi while America's Coco Vandeweghe is the only qualifier left in the draw after a 6-3 6-3 triumph over Julia Goerges.
She will meet Victoria Azarenka, who reached the last eight as 11th seed Marion Bartoli was forced to retire from their third-round clash after losing the first set 6-2.
