Mark Webber has no intention of taking his foot off the gas to become the third Australian to win the Formula One title.
With an 11-point lead over double champion Fernando Alonso, Webber could ease off slightly to minimise the risk of blowing his title hopes.
But the Red Bull driver has no intention of taking his foot off the gas in his bid become the third Australian to win the world title after Jack Brabham and Alan Jones.
With just four races to go Webber, who is 20 points ahead of McLaren's third placed Briton Lewis Hamilton, could be forgiven for playing the percentages to ensure he achieves his goal.
But the 34-year-old has dismissed any suggestions that he might take a more cautious approach on his route to F1 glory.
Instead, Webber is aiming to race at the front and squeeze maximum performance out of his Red Bull car in next weekend's Japanese Grand Prix.
"It's nice that I have a little buffer at the top of the points right now and I am glad of that," he said.
"But we still have to go out and give it all we've got. I think we are going to be very competitive.
"So, we have to go to Suzuka and get the absolute maximum out of what we have - and Suzuka is a track that, like all the drivers, I really love so I am looking forward to it.
"I am sure we are going to be right there and giving it a go."
Webber is well aware that the resurgent Ferrari team of Spaniard Alonso are breathing down his neck and ready to pounce on the smallest error.
The Italian outfit are on a roll after winning three of their last five races, two of those coming in the last two successive Grands Prix.
"Yes, they have had two wins on the bounce and they are looking good," added Webber.
"But we did well at Suzuka last year and the points situation is pretty open for everyone. Anything can still happen."
