The Dane, the top seed, looked up against it when her Russian opponent took the opening set 6-1, but turned the match on its head to run out a 1-6 6-2 6-3 winner in two hours in Tokyo.
Dementieva, seeded seven, managed 94% of first serves in the first set, breaking three times to take it with ease, but she could not keep up that level of performance and Wozniacki broke twice in the second set and three times in the third.

Dementieva double faulted in the last two points of the match to hand the title to the Dane.
"Elena started really strong. I didn't get enough depth on my groundstrokes, but in the beginning of the second set I pressed a little harder," Wozniacki said on www.sonyericssonwtatour.com.
"I started to feel the match was turning around a little bit but I still had to keep my focus in the third set and I'm just happy I won the last point."
Dementieva said: "I feel I played very well in the first set and unfortunately I missed some opportunities in the beginning of the second set and lost a bit of momentum.
"She was fighting and playing solid from the baseline and I'm disappointed the way I finished the match but overall it was a good fight."
