TRS today alleged that the ''Rachabanda'' mass-contact programme of the Andhra Pradesh government is an attempt to divert public attention from the Telangana issue.
"The government does not have sincerity in public welfare. Telangana people are not allowing the ruling party leaders to enter villages over the statehood issue. The government and leaders want to enter villages through this programme," TRS leader in the Assembly E Rajender claimed.
Dismissing the allegation, Government Chief Whip M Bhatti Vikramarka said TRS is politicising the issue for its own advantage.
Meanwhile, CPI state secretary K Narayana said in a letter to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy that land distribution and related issues should be included in the subjects covered by the ''Rachabanda'' programme.
The mass-contact programme, in which Chief Minister N Kiran KUmar Reddy and the ministers would participate, aims at verifying whether the benefits of the government''s welfare programmes reached the beneficiaries.
Late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who originally conceptualised the ''Rachabanda'' (village junction) programme, died in a chopper crash on September two, 2009 while he was on the way to launch the scheme in Chittoor district.
The Chief Minister and the state ministers have urged the political parties and various sections of the society to make programme a success.
