FX Casts Lucy Punch as 'Powers' Lead

Lucy Punch has reportedly been cast as the female lead in the new FX series Powers, according to Deadline.
Powers is a cop drama with a twist: it's set in a world where superpowers are common, and the crimes they solve involve said powers. It's like the inverse of SyFy's upcoming series Alphas, which deals with superpowered cops solving normal crimes. I don't know about you, but Powersintrigues me more, despite its title.
Powers is an adaptation of a graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, which centers on two main characters, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim. Punch will play Pilgrim, a "rambunctious, funny" detective with a lot of secrets.

Punch, in addition to having one of the best names possibly ever, hails from England and has made appearances in such shows as Doc Martin and Midsomer Murders. More notably, though, she's had roles in films such as Hot Fuzz, Grindhouse, Dinner for Schmucks, and is appearing in the upcoming Cameron Diaz comedy Bad Teacher.
Powers, written by Charles H. Eglee and directed by Michael Dinner, has also cast actor Charles S. Dutton (House, Legion) in a lead role as Captain Cross. According to creator Bendis, filming for the project is slated to begin soon.
