Glen Campbell Diagnosed with Alzheimer's

Glen Campbell could have stopped recording music a long time ago. His legacy had been permanently etched in the annals of country music with armloads of awards, countless classic singles, and a distinct influence he's had on new artists since his debut in 1958. However, the 75 year old has continued to release albums (2004'sMeet Glen Campbell being his most recent) and remain in the public eye, mostly to collect his much deserved lifetime achievement awards and recognition of his hall-of-fame career.
Which is why it was so shocking to learn that Campbell had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's earlier this year and will perform a series of farewell concerts in appreciation of his fans. According to People Magazine, Campbell had been having short-term memory loss for years, but after his condition worsened, he wanted to let his fans know what was going on. Campbell is slated to release his final album Ghost On The Canvas
August 30th.
You may know Campbell most from his #1 hit "Rhinestone Cowboy", but Campbell was a TV star in his day, picking up two ACM awards for TV Personality of the Year due to his highly successful Glen Campbell: Good Times Again that aired for 4 seasons on CBS. Goodtime Hour was a comedy/variety show that featured anyone who was anyone during the late 60s and early 70s, a bit of down home rural-oriented goodness at a time when that wasn't the coolest thing. Campbell has been married to his wife Kimberly since 1982 and has eight children.
