Big Brother 13: Jeff vs. Rachel (Round One)

It was bound to happen...
Tonight's Big Brother displayed the first cracks in the Veteran alliance with Jeff and Rachel going at each other's throats while Daniele quietly makes power plays of her own.
After this week's nomination ceremony, Brendon and Rachel were not happy with Jordan nominating Dominic and Adam for eviction since they seriously wanted Cassi out the house instead. The two plead their case of backdooring Cassi to Jordan, claiming that Cassi is not to be trusted as their main issue with the girl. Thankfully, Jordan realized what every Big Brother watcher has been discussing since the season began: Rachel is simply jealous of Cassi and can't stand to not be the center of attention. Rachel's constant campaign gainst Cassi quickly annoyed Jordan, who actually enjoys the model's company and wants to keep the nominations the same and get rid of Dominic.
While Jeff and Jordan tried their best to keep the nominations the same, Rachel and Brendon went on their own campaign to "take back the house," because they didn't think Jeff and Jordan were doing a good job at keeping things in their (Brenchal's) favor. This is the main reason these two didn't make it to the final four last year. Shooting themselves in the foot again much?

Meanwhile, Dominic decided to actually use his brain and fight for his chance in the Veto competition. Adam, on the other hand, pulled a Keith by following Jordan's orders of throwing the competition in exchange for votes to stay in the game. At this point, I've given up on Adam being a smart player, pegging him as a star struck fan with no common sense whatsoever anymore when it comes to playing the Big Brother game.
One person who is using plenty of common sense was Daniele, who has the best strategy so far in the game. Daniele also wanted Cassi out of the house, but only so she could have Dominic, Cassi's close confidant, all to herself. Daniele knew Jeff and Jordan wouldn't be down with this plan, so seeing how much Rachel and Brenden were spazzing over getting rid of Cassi, she used their hatred of Cassi to her advantage, knowing full well that Rachel and Brendon would take all of the flack for their campaign against Cassi. Personally, Daniele is proving at this point that she's just as dangerous as her father, but once those four "coaster weeks" pass will she be able to keep her strategy in check?
Now, let's discuss the big blow up between Jeff and Rachel, who in my personal opinion were both wrong in their cases tonight. First of all, the Veto competition dealt with the participants (Brendon, Rachel, Jeff, Jordan, Adam, and Dominic) having to literally walk and chew gum, except they must maintain their balance on a balance beam. If they fell, the participants had the opportunity to jump back in the game, but would have to endure two weeks of slop to do so. Also, the participants played solo instead of in teams. Jordan fell out the competition first and asked to jump back in, willing to accept her slop penalty. Before this could be awarded to her, Jeff shouted at her to not take it, because it would be stupid on her part. This is where Jeff messed up to me.
Seeing this, Rachel makes a remark of "if the HOH can't compete, then why should we?," which pissed Jeff off to no-end. Instead of blasting Rachel on the spot, Jeff waited until the end of the competition, which Dominic ended up winning. While Rachel didn't have to open her mouth and berate Jordan, Jeff made two mistakes in that whole exchange, or one if you look at it from a certain angle. The problem with the whole exchange was that Jeff downplayed Jordan's abilities in the game twice, once when Jordan was going to accept the slop penalty and the second time for going at Rachel. Jordan is a big girl, she can handle herself. Jeff didn't have to go Sgt. Jackass on Jordan in front of everyone. That, in my opinion, was really the first crack revealed in front of the Newbies.
The second crack came from the fight between Jeff and Rachel, which clearly showed that the Vets are not as stable as people are lead to believe. Best believe if Evel Dick was still in the house, that little snafu wouldn't have went down. The Vets are not long for this world and thank God for it. And we all know this is the first fight of many between Jeff and Rachel, so with that gate open, I'm sure we are due at least five more bouts before the season is out...
After the fight, Brendon and Jordan calmed down their respective partners and vowed to not fight in front of the Newbies again. Whatever, if the Newbies don't use that fight in their favor then I'm so done with both factions of this year's Big Brother.
Later, Cassi proposed to Jordan the idea of backdooring Rachel and Brendon when Dominic takes himself and Adam off the block. Jordan mused over that idea and presented it to Jeff, who also mulled over the potential game-changing move. However, in the end Jordan thought to play it safe by ironically giving Rachel and Brendon (and Daniele to some extent) what they wanted by putting Shelly and Cassi up for replacement evictions.
Wonder if Shelly now regrets either kissing up to Jeff and Jordan or not kissing up to them enough?
What are your thoughts about the new nominees for eviction? What is your take on the fight between Jeff and Rachel? Who was wrong? Rachel or Jeff? Speak up!
