Plenty of Microsoft news is still underway thanks to their annual Worldwide Partner Conference taking place this week in Los Angeles. Today, the company’s COO Kevin Turner revealed plans for expanding Microsoft retail stores with an additional 75 locations over the next two to three years. That’s a big step up from the 11 stores currently in operation.
The current Microsoft stores were opened in just the last two years with most concentrated in the southern California region. Apparently, Microsoft have some have something good up its sleeves with the new Windows Phone 7 Mango platform, Nokia handsets, and Windows 8. The Nokia Sea Ray along with some of the devices shown off yesterday, including the new Mango handset from Samsung, do look promising.
The 75 new stores look to be heavily concentrated in the New England area, Florida, Texas, and California. There will also be two stores opening in Hawaii and few more in the midwest. The stores will stock not only PCs but also Xbox 360 consoles, Windows Phones, and media players. Surely, future Windows 8 tablets will be making their grand entrance in these stores as well.
