Holy. Hell.
Last night's Teen Wolf was nothing but a straight up carnival ride that didn't give you the opportunity to frequently catch your breath. A sharp turn from a standard episode, "Night School" pit the teenagers of Teen Wolf in some serious danger as the Alpha made his next move to get Scott to join him in terrorizing the town of Beacon Hills. Despite all of the kids being "okay" in the end, there was still one casualty that went through my heart like a silver bullet.
The episode started where we left off with Scott and Stiles hiding inside the school from the Alpha, trying to figure out their next move. Meanwhile, Allison got a text from Scott to meet her at the school, because it was urgent. However, Scott doesn't own a phone anymore, remember? Despite knowing this, Allison still headed to the school with Lydia and a seriously crushing Jackson in tow. With the gang all there, the Alpha chased the teens around the school until he finally corners Scott and attempts to execute his plan: have Scott kill his "old pack," aka his friends in order to join the Alpha in his "new pack."
Well I'll be damned...
Out With The Old, In With The New
So the Alpha considers Scott's friends as the teen's old pack and they must be exterminated immediately. It's a fitting comparison, given that Scott is seen around them a lot. Also, the "old pack," besides his mother, just happens to be Scott's link towards his humanity, which is another reason why the Alpha might want to eliminate them out of the equation, especially Allison, who is the only person to really be able to tame the beast inside of Scott. With this revelation, you can't help but wonder a) who got a hold of a new phone for Scott and b) could the Alpha possibly be someone closer to the group than we originally thought... Like Danny, Jackson's openly gay best friend? Think about it...
Will Jackson Be Howling Like A Wolf Later?
What in God's name was that freak out with Jackson all about? It occured right when the Alpha was making Scott shift into wolf form, which makes me subscribe even more to the theory of Jackson being some form of a werewolf. Plus, Stiles looked a little concerned over the mark on the back of Jackson's neck. Who wants to bet Stiles will be doing some heavy-duty research when he gets home? Also, could Jackson's werewolf connection be the reason behind his newfound interest in Allison and his blatant brush-off of Lydia?
Deaton The Vet. WTF?!!?!
When I saw this man chilling in the ambulance, I called didn't call "foul," I screamed it. Where the hell was he when all of that crap was going down at the school? He couldn't have gotten that damn far without the Alpha catching not only his scent, but his blood as well. With that being said, Deaton the Vet has risen in the ranks of my Who is The Alpha list of suspects, because I smell nothing but B.S. when this fool appears on-screen.
Is Derek Dead or Not?
The man was a no-show tonight, which had me worried a bit about him actually biting the bullet at the end of last week's episode of Teen Wolf. However, his car was nowhere to be found when the police arrived at the scene. Although, the Alpha could've taken it himself to escape being shot at by the cops, but something tells me that Derek is still in play here and he won't be too thrilled that Scott has fingered him for the crimes. Again.
Love. Be Afraid.
When Allison broke it off with Scott, I had to rewind my DVR to make sure it actually happened. I never saw that coming, but at the same time it kind of makes sense at the moment. Scott couldn't come clean with Allison (for reasons way out of his control), which in turn became a revelation that she truly doesn't know the man she's come to love and basically can't trust him. Factor in Scott's apparent connection to the horror she had just experienced and his increasingly weird behavior, Allison was only doing the most plausible thing possible at the moment by giving him the deuces. However, it still hurts like a bitch to see these two break it off so soon, because I was banking on Allison to call it quits once she found out Scott was a werewolf. Not saying that being completely untrustworthy is not a close second, but still.
Now, Scott has lost his anchor, which doesn't bode well for the denizens of Beacon Hill or Scott's ability to maintain his transformations when needed. "Love. Be Afraid" indeed...
Random Thoughts
- I got Scott's explanation for "throwing Derek under the bus," but he can't keep doing that if he expects this guy to remain an ally.
- The fact that the Alpha can make Scott transfer at will is pretty damn daunting if you ask me. Scott's problems immediately were quadrupled when this little piece of info was introduced. Now, I'm going to need the writers to use this at least a couple of more times in the show.
- Lydia showcased her smarts again tonight by building that molotov cocktail from scratch. This girl truly knows her stuff and I can't wait for her to truly showcase her skills on the show. Speaking of the molotov, did Jackson deliberately not give Lydia the correct bottle? If so, then this man is going to be even more trouble than I thought.
- I'm trying to figure out how Scott didn't hear Allison, Jackson, and Lydia arrive at the school. I'm not even going to go deep into why that popped up in my head, but there you go.
- When Scott went to face his "maker," the build up of suspense was pretty well-timed. However, I wouldn't be surprised if someone found that it slowed the episode a bit, but in the overall scheme of the episode, it worked.
What do you guys think is going to happen next by judging the trailer for next week's episode? Can you imagine that we are past the midseason mark and only have five episodes of Teen Wolfleft? How will we manage before the next season starts? Well there is The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle to look forward to, but I digress.
