Castle Season 4 Spoiler: Is The Season Premiere Case-Free?

Okay, so this is really intriguing.

Kristin dos Santos from E!Online talked to Penny Johnson Jerald - who has joined the cast of ABC's Castle as the new Captain Victoria Gates - and the actress said something very interesting.

First, it seems that the time jump that we have all been predicting is indeed going to happen during the first episode of season 4 and three entire months will have passed by the end of the premiere. But that's not what has me so intrigued, after all we all knew there needed to be a significant time jump in order to Detective Kate Beckett to be back to work in all her kickass glory by episode 4.02.

What got me thinking was that Penny said that she doesn't know if we are going to see Beckett at the Precinct during the season 4 Premiere - entitled "Rise" - at all.

"[Fans] are going to be like, 'Wait a minute? That's never happened on this show before!'", the actress teased.

Could that be finally a case free, let's-focus-on-our-main-characters-instead-of-on-the-murder-of-the-week episode? I don't know about you guys, but I am all for it if that is indeed what they have planned. Those characters need time to take a step back and regroup before throwing themselves into their murder-solving daily routine after everything that happened in season 3 finale.

Beckett, in particular, is going to need that time off to come to terms emotionally with what happened and recover from the bullet she took to the chest. Maybe this is when we are finally going to see her going to therapy and opening up about what is really going on in her mind.

This episode is sounding better and better, guys.

What do you think?
