Lenovo‘s sixth notebook of the day is the ThinkPad W520, a 15.6-inch desktop replacement packing a choice of Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors – up to the 2.5GHz Core i7-2920XM – along with up to 32GB of RAM, up to 160GB of SSD storage (or 500GB of HDD) and either NVIDIA Quadro 1000M 2GB or Quadro 2000M 2GB GPUs.
The hefty W520 has two USB 3.0 ports, a combo USB/eSATA and a DVD burner, along with WiFi a/g/n as standard and optional WiMAX, EVDO or HSPA. There’s also NVIDIA Optimus graphics switching, optional RAID 0 or 1, Mil-Spec certification and a new, supposedly quieter keyboard.
Best of all, you don’t have to sacrifice runtime for all that power. Battery life ranges from 8.9 to 10.7hrs, depending on whether you have a dual- or quad-core CPU, HDD or SSD, and which GPU you’re using. The Lenovo ThinkPad W520 will debut on March 29 2011, priced from $1,529.
