Game of Thrones has already been renewed for a second season, but it's still good to know that the series is doing well in the ratings. Episode 8, which aired this past Sunday, scored 2.7 million viewers. That's a 22% increase since the series premiere. When the episode repeated later that night it picked up an additional 900,000 viewers, which gave Game of Thrones a total of 3.6 million viewers for the night.
While some episodes have resulted in a tiny dip in the ratings, Game of Thrones has been a solid performer for HBO since its premiere. Considering the upcoming direction of the show - including the fierce battles that are sure to play out with the various houses having declared war on each other - I wouldn't be shocked if the ratings continue to rise.
There are only two more episodes left for season 1 of Game of Thrones. The next new episode airs on June 12.
