It happens all the time. Melissa Leo did it at the Oscars, Jenny Slate did it on Saturday Night Live, and now Robert Pattinson has done it at the MTV Movie Awards. That's right, on Sunday night's broadcast of the awards show, Robert Pattinson dropped the F-bomb, and it slipped through the censors.
While presenting a career achievement award to actress Reese Witherspoon (a career achievement award? She's 35!), his co-star in the film Water for Elephants, Pattinson remarked on the irony that he had once played her son in the 2004 film Vanity Fair. "This time, I f***ed you," he said, and millions of Twilight fan girls watching from the east coast giggled in disbelief.*
It was a busy awards ceremony for Pattinson; he also smooched Eclipse co-star Taylor Lautner on the lips (no, you read that right), and, probably provocatively, told co-star Kristen Stewart that he wanted to "take [her] backstage."
Pattinson's faux pas will probably be talked about for the next week or so, and they'll probably fire the guy who let the curse word slip past the seven second delay. Will perception change of Pattinson? Probably not -- Twilight isn't exactly the most wholesome movie series out there.
Overall, this is a nonevent that will probably still leave people talking about it. After all, you're reading about it here, aren't you?
Pattinson's next film, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1, will premiere in theaters on November 18.
