
One of the finest film editors of Kannada cinema P R Soundar Raj has reached the 100 mark with S.Narayan’s latest directorial venture ‘Veera Parampare’ that stars Sudeep and Ambarish in the lead.
Beginning his career as assistant editor for ‘Swabhimana’ Kannada film mild mannered workaholic P R Soundaraj first film as independent editor was for director of repute S Narayan in ‘Captain’ in 1993 and his 100th film is also for the multifaceted director and producer S. Narayan is a notable feat.
From Moviola to Sten Back to Avid Sounder Raj has learnt the art of editing from R Bhasker for nine years staying in Chennai. A graduate in Arts Sounder Raj’s prominent films are for director S Narayan in films like Veerappanayaka, Suryavamsha, Chandra Chakori, Sevanthi Sevanthi, Cheluvina Chittara, Jamindaaru, Galate Aliyandru, Nannavalu Nannavalu. In the camp of S Mahender he worked as editor for Kaurava, Snehaloka, Asura, Ninagaagi, Karpooradha Gombe, in Dinesh Baboo direction he worked for Chitra, Neenello Naanalle, Bellari Naga etc. The list of good films by Sounder Raj include Porkhi, Jolly Days, Chellata, friends, Arunodaya, Dalavayi, Ashoka, Chandramukhi Pranasakhi etc
Avid editing is the best system today as it saves time, money and helps in more creativity. After proving his mettle in various editing studios Sounder Raj has finally settled down in S Narayan’s Bhagyajyothi Editing studio in Basaveshwaranagara. From ‘Chanda’ all the films of S Narayan are edited in this studio.
