France winger Franck Ribery is to undergo surgery in Munich to correct a long-standing groin problem.
The Bayern Munich midfielder was flown into the Bavarian city by private jet after returning from the World Cup, and no time has been wasted in arranging the operation before the player's summer holidays in a bid to get him back to full fitness as soon as possible.
It was agreed at the end of last season that Ribery would undergo surgery, but it was not anticipated he would be back from South Africa so soon.
He will spend a few days in a Munich clinic before being given a few weeks off and reporting for pre-season training with his team-mates in mid-July, according to the German champions' website.
It is expected he will be fully fit for the start of the Bundesliga campaign on August 20.
