Portugal ran riot today and put seven past a poor North Korean side. This is by far the most entertaining match of the tournament. By Colin Chong
Portugal
Eduardo - 6
Just a handful of bread and butter saves from Eduardo. Nothing much for him to do today.
Bruno Alves - 6
Had a quiet game, but that's because the North Koreans barely troubled him.
Ricardo Carvalho - 7
First chance came from the centre back who steamed forward in a counter attack only five minutes into the game. He then heads the ball into the post two minutes later.
Miguel - 7
The Portuguese wing backs looked very bright today, which is rare in this tournament.
Fabio Coentrao - 8
His unstoppable runs down the left was a constant threat. Did well to pick out Almeida for the third goal. Man of the match performance in my opinion.
Pedro Mendes - 5
Everyone forgot he was in the starting line up.
Raul Meireles (70' off) - 7.5
Made many late runs into the box making him a difficult player to mark. It paid off eventually with his name on the scoresheet.
Tiago - 8.5
Came in as a replacement for Deco, and left the pitch with only two goals and an assist to his name. Nothing much.
Christiano Ronaldo - 7
His 16 month goal drought finally came to an end! Watch out for that circus act from him before the tap in....
Simao (74' off) - 6
Although he scored the second goal, his touches and passing today have been poor.
Hugo Almeida (78' off) - 6.5
A better option to the quiet Liedson in the previous match, he did not impress as the lone striker. His did pop up to head in a goal though.
Substitutions
Miguel Veloso (70' on) - 6
Conservative play from Veloso this time round, simple training ground passes to keep his team's advantage.
Duda (74' on) - 5
Failed to impress.
Liedson (78' on) - 6
Came on and capitalised on a defensive error to score the fifth goal.
North Korea
Myong-Guk Ri -5
Looked unsure of himself at times, helplessly letting seven balls past him today.
Cha Jong-Hyok (75' off) - 6.5
Made a crucial header to prevent Almeida from scoring. The right back remained focus to keep the narrow score line.
Ri Kwang-Chon - 4
One mistake after another, Ri did not learn his lesson and was eventually punished by Liedson.
Ri Jun-Il - 5
Could not deal with the slick passing of the Portuguese. The more goals they conceded today, the more open the defence looked.
Pak Chol-Jin - 6.5
Determined and refused to be intimidated by the Portuguese.
Ji Yun-Nam - 6.5
Came head to head with Miguel on many occasions and did well.
Ahn Yong-Hak - 6
The crucial anchorman was deployed to bolster his crowded five man defence, making life difficult for the Portuguese, but the second half was a totally different story.
Pak Nam-Chol (58' off) - 5
Just a few harmless crosses from him in the poor 58 minutes he was on.
Mun In-Guk (58' off) - 5.5
Mun suffered the same fate as Ri Jun-Il, and was eventually substituted.
Hong Yong-Jo - 6.5
Control the ball, pass the ball. Simple football philosophy, but looked the most dangerous in the North Korean team.
Jong Tae-Se - 7
The willing runner for his team, chasing every loose ball no matter how hopeless it may seem. Jong is a role model for all the overpaid European players.
Substitutions
KIM Kum Il (58' on) - 5
Could not do anything but watch his team concede five more goals.
Kim Yong Jun (58' on) - 5
The outcome would have been the same with or without his inclusion.
Nam Song Chol (75' on)
