Manchester City are plotting yet another spending spree - with Fernando Torres, Karim Benzema and Edin Dzeko among their targets.
According to The Daily Star, manager Roberto Mancini has admitted his side is two or three players short of being genuine title contenders and has pin-pointed the trio to add to his array of stars at Eastlands.
Mancini, who failed in his attempt to pry Torres from Liverpool during the recent transfer window, is now set to launch a renewed assault on the Spanish ace, who has been struggling to rediscover his form at Anfield.
Real Madrid's Benzema and Wolfsburg's Dzeko are also understood to be secondary targets if the cash-rich club once again fail in their efforts to sign Torres in January.
City were reportedly in pursuit of Dzeko during the summer but was put off by Wolfsburg's asking price of £50 million.
Meanwhile, Benzema has also been linked with Manchester United after being reportedly fed-up with life under Jose Mourinho at the Bernabeu.
