Inter Milan are back in the hunt for Xabi Alonso and could enter negotiations with Real Madrid in the January transfer window.
According to Tuttomercatoweb.com, Inter coach Rafael Benitez has not given up on his former Liverpool midfield ace after failing in his attempt to prise him to the San Siro during the summer.
Alonso was believed to be the alternative to Javier Mascherano, who snubbed his former mentor's advances for Barcelona.
Benitez, who won the 2005 Champions League with Alonso, is growing desperate to sign the 28-year-old and will be seeking Massimo Moratti for funds to do so.
