The Swede was beaten 6-3 6-2 by Kazakhstan's Andrey Golubev, the eighth seed, in one hour 11 minutes.
Golubev dominated on his opponent's second serve, breaking four times, to set up a semi-final meeting with Spain's David Ferrer.
The fifth seed battled past Tomas Berdych, the third seed and Wimbledon finalist from the Czech Republic, 4-6 7-5 6-4.
The other last-four clash will be between fourth seed Mikhail Youzhny and qualifier and fellow Russian Igor Andreev.

Youzhny fought back from dropping the first set to Marcos Baghdatis, the Cypriot sixth seed, to claim a 6-7 (5/7) 7-5 6-1 victory.
Andreev, who knocked out second seed Nikolay Davydenko earlier in the competition, beat fellow qualifier Milos Raonic of Canada 6-1 3-6 6-3.
