Regina and Daphne are officially settled into the Kennish guest house, but their appearance in the neighborhood is raising questions. Kathryn's friends start getting curious about who this new family is and why Kathryn and John asked them to move in.
The scrutiny invites gossip, so Kathryn decides to keep the truth a secret and decides to come up with a lie instead. She means to protect Bay, but Bay can't escape the gossip circles. That's not all the trouble Bay has to deal with in tonight's episode. She decides to ask Daphne more about her biological father, but Daphne refuses to answer her questions. Of course, this leaves Bay determined to learn the truth.
Matlin, meanwhile, guest stars as Melody, who is Emmet's mother and Regina's best friend. John first meets Melody when he decides to get involved in Daphne's basketball games. Melody also acts as a fill-in coach and the counselor at Daphne's school.
