Since Apple’s iPhone has pretty much the best of everything, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that the hottest smartphone on the market has a large number of really cool and useful travel apps.
The iPhone is all about convenience and putting everything in its place within a sleek interface that is highly intuitive. With practically every aspect of your daily life managed in this device already, why wouldn’t you also organize, plan and carry-out travel itineraries here as well?
Already there are approximately 2,000 travel apps available for use with the iPhone. Industry analysts suggest that as much as these apps have already changed the travel industry more is on the way. Much, much more. In coming years, apps will become more and more personalized to bring the richest experiences to your fingertips no matter where you may be in the world. From finding Australia honeymoon packages to the best hotel outside the Grand Canyon to the best pho cafĂ© in Paris – the iPhone has you covered, in spades.
With so many travel apps to choose from on the iPhone it’s impossible – or at least highly impractical – for the average user to sort through them all. To help the process, we’ve compiled a list of some of the coolest being offered.
Packing: This app lets you create a packing list of required items that can be checked off.
FlightTrack Pro: Once airline confirmation emails are forwarded your itinerary is pushed back automatically to your iPhone for easy trip management. A steal for those on the go at $9.99.
Next Flight: With fewer airlines and flights available these days, and delays more and more common, Next Flight allows for filtered searches of more than 4,200 airports for departures.
Where: An essential component of a trip anywhere. Leave the guidebook at home, and still be able to know everything around you from movie theater show times to the locations of restaurants and just about anything else you can think of.
Skype: OK, this one isn’t exactly travel-related. But if you want to avoid astronomical international calling rates, Skype Internet calling is one of the best alternatives available.
Since it seems new apps pop up in the iStore daily that make our lives easier, in previously unimaginable ways, there’s no doubt these apps will soon be eclipsed by newer innovations that further personalize the travel experience not matter the destination. We’ve probably not seen anything yet.
