Colin Chong rates the players in the exciting match between 10 man Germany and Serbia.
Germany
Manuel Neuer - 6
The poor keeper could only cheer his team on from afar as he barely had a save to make from the wasteful Serbians.
Arne Friedrich - 7
Had an easy task in defence today, matching the 2.02m Zigic in the air with ease.
Per Mertesacker - 6.5
For a player of his caliber, he would have to take the blame to allow Zigic the header which led to the goal.
Philipp Lahm - 7
Full of hunger and drive. Rarely in his own half after the sending off as he tried to aid the forward players.
Holger Badstuber (77' off) - 6
Silent performer before the wasteful substitution from his manager.
Sami Khedira - 8
The Michael Ballack replacement had his thunderbolt rattle the bar on the stroke of half time. Awesome work rate from him as well.
Bastian Schweinsteiger - 7
Dominated the middle of the park with his simple passes and his no nonsense tackles.
Mesut Ozil (70' off) - 8
His creativity and off the ball movement at such a tender age would make him a valuable asset in the German squad. Werder Bremen may just be tempted to cash in on him after this World cup.
Thomas Mueller (70' off) - 6.5
He should leave crossing and the long balls to his other technically gifted teammates.
Lukas Podolski - 3
Had 101 shots off target, and clocked the first penalty miss for the tournament. His manager must have been proud.
Miroslav Klose - 6
His knock downs and hold up play were spot on. What a pity the referee had to ruin the match by giving him 2 soft bookings.
Substitutions
Cacau (70' on) - 5
Tried to make things happen but his efforts were rather futile.
Marko Marin (70' on) - 5
I give a five for his effort. Poor substitution by Joachim Loew.
Mario Gomez ( 77' on) - 4
Once the most expensive player in the Bundesliga, he would be better off warming the bench.
Serbia
Vladimir Stojkovic - 8
Finally had a save to make after 50mins of play, and then a penalty save five minutes later. Serbian Savior.
Aleksandar Kolarov - 6 .5
Performed his duties well at left back, with his teammates stealing the show.
Branislav Ivanovic - 6
Few mistimed challenges and was as quiet as his wing-back counterpart.
Nemanja Vidic -5
Had very little tackles to make with or without Klose. He must be thanking his lucky stars his foolishness did not cost his team when he gave the Germans a hand(ball) in the box.
Neven Subotic - 7
Solid in defence. Sir Alex could just opt for this Serbian if the other wants to leave.
Zdravko Kuzmanovic (75' off) - 6.5
A tactical change paid off with this man sitting in front of the back four.
Dejan Stankovic - 5
Poor performance by his high standards as he hardly got involved in any Serbian attack.
Milos Ninkovic (70' off) - 6
Had chances of his own but lack the killer blow to hurt the Germans.
Milos Krasic - 7.5
The Pavel Nedved look-alike whipped in balls into the danger area all day long and was ever present out wide.
Milan Jovanovic (79' off) - 8
Quiet till his well taken goal. Managed to catch the entire German defence ball watching. Could have doubled his tally if not for the woodwork as well. Great all round display from him.
Nikola Zigic - 6
Relatively poor in the air considering his height as he is always was second best to any aerial ball. Maybe he should take footballing lessons from Peter Crouch?
Substitutions
Gojko Kacar (70' on) - 6
Unable to make the Germans pay as he missed a few chances toward the end.
Radosav Petrovic (75' on) - 6
Had a chance for himself immediately after coming on.
Danko lazovic (79' on) - 6
No time to impress.
