New Set Photo from Ricky Gervais's New Show, Life's Too Short

Love or hate Ricky Gervais, you probably have to admit that you like something he's done. He's responsible for both the UK and the US versions of The Office, the HBO series Extras, and now, the new BBC/HBO comedy Life's Too Short, which is currently in production. All of this he's done with Stephen Merchant, a riotously funny man with unfortunately less of a big name. You might know Merchant from the film Hall Pass, or more likely, for lending his voice to the character of Wheatley in the video game Portal 2.

Life's Too Short, Merchant and Gervais's new creation, stars Warwick Davis (Harry Potter, Star Wars) as himself, a "showbiz dwarf" who deals with many hardships, due to both being famous and being a dwarf. Davis apparently came up with the story and title of the show, leaving it to Merchant and Gervais to fine tune it (which I'm sure they've done with hilarious offensiveness).

Recently, Gervais posted that he got to film his role on the show (as himself) in his own office, in his own t-shirt. You can tell from his expression that the version of himself he'll be playing seems very different from earlier characters such as David Brent. Davis will apparently be visiting Gervais in the course of the eight-episode series.

Merchant, who along with Gervais is directing the series, is also slated to make an appearance in the show as himself.

Life's Too Short will air on BBC2 in the UK and on HBO in the US at an unknown date.
