After releasing their eighth studio album The King of Limbs earlier this year, Radiohead is preparing to have a debut of the album in an entirely different sense: for television. They've done so by releasing a video of a new song, titled "Staircase."
The rock quintet, whose albums The Bends, OK Computer, and Kid A have all topped critical lists for the best albums of all time, will be seen in the upcoming BBC television special The King of Limbs: Live from the Basement, according to Spinner. That's a follow-up to the show for their previous album, In Rainbows: From the Basement, which still receives airplay on DirecTV's the 101 channel.
The video, which drummer Phil Selway posted on the band's YouTube account on Tuesday, features the song "Staircase," a song from the King of Limbs sessions that didn't make the final cut of the album (which ran at only eight tracks). "Staircase" isn't the only song that didn't make the cut of the album, songs "Supercollider" and "The Butcher" were released as a double A-side single for record store day back in April.
The King of Limbs: Live from the Basement premieres on July 1, though there's no news of when or if it will be broadcast in America. I know I can't wait to hear more of The King of Limbs (I'm on the 'love' side of this divisive album) performed live by the band. Check out the video for "Staircase" below.
