Here's a little bit of cryptic news for you: Ricky Gervais is meeting Doctor Who in his upcoming comedy Life's Too Short.
"This time," the post continued, "Who meets Ricky on Life's Too Short."
Life's Too Short, for those who don't know, is the upcoming comedy from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the creators of The Office and Extras. The series will star Warwick Davis as a fictional version of himself who deals with the difficulties, both socially and otherwise, of being a dwarf actor. It should be easy to work Doctor Who into there somewhere, especially considering that it won't be the first time that Ricky's workedDoctor Who into one of his shows.
The Extras Christmas special featured Ricky's character Andy Millman reluctantly taking a role on the British sci-fi series after quitting his job on a successful sitcom. Millman played a giant space slug who faced off against the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) and was eventually defeated by table salt. Who wasn't exactly portrayed in the most positive light by Extras, with the sequence being treated as a bit of a parody of the campy Russell T. Davies era of the show. You can watch that clip
Will Matt Smith be making an appearance on Life's Too Short? From the photos that Ricky released, like the one here, it appears that the Daleks will be cropping up. I can't wait to see what happens with this crossover.
Life's Too Short will air next year on HBO and BBC2.
Doctor Who will return in the fall for the second half of its sixth series, starting with the episode "Let's Kill Hitler."
