In its very first edition, The Critics' Choice Television Awards have already set themselves apart from the traditional Award shows. While the Emmys and Golden Globes usually leave out cult favorites, much to the outrage of fans around the world that want to see their favorite shows recognized, The CCTA nominated shows like Fringe, Community and Parks and Recreation, all usually ignored by the traditional awards.
Modern Family leads the comedy category with six nominations whille Mad Men scored five noms. 30 Rock and Boardwalk Empire follow closely with four nods each.
As a TV fan, I am just glad that Fringe - one of the best television shows today in my humble opinion - finally got its way overdue recognition. The cult show scored three nominations: Best Drama; John Noble received a nod for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and Anna Torv, who was absolutely brilliant in season 3, got a nom for Best Actress in a Drama Series.
