Malayalam film actor Murali dies aged 55
Thiruvananthapuram: The demise on Thursday of Murali, one of Malayalam filmdom's seasoned actors and a national award winner, has dealt another big blow for the industry in Kerala. Murali's demise follows the deaths recently of well-known film director Lohitadas and actor Rajan P. Dev. The 55-year-old actor, who won the national award for his touching portrayal of Appa Mestri in Priyanandan's 2002 movie, Neythukaran, was serving as the chairman of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy. Murali had also contested the Lok Sabha polls with the support of the Left Democratic Front from the Alappuzha constituency in 1999 and lost to Congress leader V.M. Sudheeran. Murali had been admitted to a private hospital here a few days ago following chest congestion and related complaints and the end came around 8pm on Thursday. He acted in nearly 300 films, many of them earning him awards. Some of his outstanding performances came in films like Amaram, Kaanaakkinaavu, Thaalolam, Chamayam, a
