Ghai and Jackies tribute to Ashok Mehta

Image
Subhash Ghai and Jackie Shroff paid a day long tribute to ace cinematographer Ashok Mehta at the Whistling Woods International (WWI) campus with veterans of the Industry and the family of Ashok Mehta. The campus was decorated with exhibits featuring the work of Ashok Mehta and there were special classes & seminars discussing films shot by Ashok Mehta and his work as a Cinematographer. Finally as a tribute, a screening of his directorial debut  Moksh  starring Manisha Koirala and Arjun Rampal was also shown to the students. However, the real surprise of the day was when Ghai screened a song from one of his earlier shelved projects called  Devaa  which starred none other than Amitabh Bachchan. The song was the first time Subhash Ghai had collaborated with Ashok Mehta & Mr. Bachchan but unfortunately the film had to be shelved due to unavoidable circumstances. After the film was shelved, Ghai shifted his entire unit of technicians that were signed for  Devaa , including musi

Its unimaginable for me to be not working - Shammi Aunty

Image
At 83, Shammi Aunty, as she is universally known, loves people and acting. Unfailingly, she is the first to call on my birthday every year. Failing health and difficulty in hearing have not taken away this Bollywood survivor's spirit. After a long time, we got to see Shammi Aunty as Boman Irani's doting grandmother in  Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi . The attention she's getting after a longish gap is certainly welcome. Basking in the attention, the veteran actress says, "I want to continue acting. It's the only thing I know how to do. But movie offers had stopped coming for a while. I was doing television. But that too dwindled lately. So I was sitting idle. At my age to be workless is to be worthless.  Lekin main aaj tak kabhi kissi se kaam maange nahin gayi  (I never went to anyone to ask for work). Why should I do so now? I am happy getting what comes to me. And grateful to God I still get work. It isn't a major role in  Shirin Farhad ..., but it was grea

Akshays Krishna competes with Sonakshis Govinda

Image
It isn't just Sonakshi Sinha who would be seen gyrating to the tune of a special song-n-dance track ' Go Go Govinda ' for  OMG - Oh My God!  Now Akshay Kumar has joined the fray as well. He would soon have a song to his credit as well which would show the cool side of modern day 'bhagwaan'. "The song is called ' Don't Worry ' and is being picturised on Akshay Kumar. He plays a suited-booted God in the film who is quite cool, modern and speaks today's language. This is the kind of persona that has been incorporated in Akshay's act for the song as well", informs our source.  What makes the song further special is the fact that it has words like 'Ram' and 'Krishna' included in the lyrics that reminds one of ' Hare Krishna Hare Ram ' from  Bhool Bhulaiyaa .  "That song was a huge chartbuster and though Akshay wasn't playing God there, the experiment was one of its kinds. He hadn't experimented with such

Priyanka goes completely de-glam in Barfi

Image
Priyanka Chopra has a lot of hopes pined on her next big release  Barfi ! For starters, PC who plays Jhilmil in the film has undergone a complete transformation as far as her look is concerned and would be seen in a totally de-glam role. PC is known to add a reality touch to all her characters be it Fashion  or  Saat Khoon Maaf . Sources say that Jhilmil's character has been quite tough for the actress to essay, since it's a very sensitive character. But going by the song promo of ' Aashiyan ' from  Barfi !, it looks like PC has indeed done complete justice to her character yet again.  The actress herself isn't going out shouting from the rooftops about her role in the film. She would rather have the audience see and decide for themselves what they feel about the film and her character. However, insiders who have seen bits and pieces of the film, reveal that PC has yet again given a very good performance like always.

Joker still inspired from Ek Tha Tiger

Image
Shirish Kunder's Joker is up for release this week and the director posted this rather interesting picture of one of the aliens Golkot from his film. The director tweeted, "Introducing Intergalactic Star #Golkot from #JOKER ." However what caught our eye was the uncanny resemblance the picture bears to the first poster of Ek Tha Tiger. Golkot seems to be standing in a rather similar kind of a pose like Salman in Ek Tha Tiger. The director is not wary about how Salman would take this spoof of sorts and feels that the actor would in fact appreciate his sense of humour. Shirish earlier used the tagline 'Sometimes Being Alien is the only option' which instantly reminds us of Salman's Being Human campaign.  It remains to be seen what Sallu thinks of these innovations by Shirish.
