Best Buy explains PlayBook order cancellations

Image
Following rumors this morning that Best Buy was dropping RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, the retailer has responded to CNET, confirming that this was not the case. The speculation began after there were several reports that Best Buy had canceled customer orders for the PlayBook and then completely yanked the listing from its online store. Best Buy explains that it had to cancel orders and pull the listing simply because the PlayBook sold out rapidly during its Black Friday promotion. The company intends to continue stocking the PlayBook and will replenish stock soon. It had listed the PlayBook with a $300 discount, pricing it at $ 199.99 for the 16GB model and $299.99 for the 32GB model. The PlayBook has faced many challenges since its launch with firmware issues, such as the lack of native email, calendar, and messenger apps, that have yet to be fixed. A major update was originally set for later this year that would address these issues and bring the promised Android app player, but

OCZ Octane SSD reviews round-up

Image
This week we’re seeing the fabulously powerful and relatively inexpensive OCZ Octane 1TB 2.5-inch SSD hit the review block, and what we’re seeing here is that the manufacturers have backed up their claims in more ways than one. Price per gigabyte on this device is lower than the competition while the strength its displaying in this first round of hands-on looks is showing it to be more than a contender in the benchmark department. Could this be your next solid state drive, dare we ask?

Smartphones still at only 27% of global market share

Image
Market research firm VisionMobile has released a report, revealing that the worldwide mobile phone market is still dominated by feature phones. Despite all the craze around the latest iPhone or Android device and the spike in smartphone shipments, their global penetration has only reached 27 percent. The report finds that smartphone adoption varied widely depending on region and that generally markets with extensive 3G coverage and post-paid subscription plans had the highest smartphone adoption rate. Smartphones account for 63 percent of mobile phones in the US, 51 percent in Europe, 19 percent in the Asia-Pacific, 18 percent in Africa/Middle East, and 17 percent in Latin America. The markets dominated by feature phones are also dominated by pre-paid plans and price-oriented phones led by Nokia’s mid-tier Symbian phones and RIM’s consumer-targeted BlackBerry devices. However, Android devices are rising in these markets thanks to its low cost models, as the platform offers a wide range

Verizon Galaxy Nexus pre-orders open tomorrow, no proof necessary

Image
There’s a few claims being written up today on the Galaxy Nexus as it’ll be dropping on Verizon, each of them pointing in the direction of a pre-order date starting tomorrow, the 29th of November, 2011. What we’re hearing is that there’s this fellow by the name of Mike Peak who has been the only person in the world who’s been able to contact Verizon and get a solid date out of them as far as when the magical Ice Cream Sandwich device will be available for purchase complete with LTE connectivity. The date is tomorrow, says the supposed Verizon customer assistant on the other end of the phone, and the event is a start for pre-release orders. The date lines up with the leaked Best Buy ad we saw a few days ago  (sort of)  and makes one whole heck of a lot of sense when you consider how long this release has been in the works, likely further back than the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S II. Verizon, if you’ll remember, likely  passed on the Galaxy S II release for an exclusive hold on

Verbatim debuts Ultra-Slim Bluetooth keyboards for iPads, iPhone and Android tablets

Image
Verbatim launched a new tablet peripheral today called the Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Wireless Mobile Keyboard. The keyboard is about as thin as a No. 2 pencil and is compatible with your iPad, iPad 2, iPhone, or other Bluetooth-enabled device with HID keyboard support. This means that it would also work with Android tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Tab and Motorola Xoom. The Verbatim Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Wireless Mobile Keyboard comes in either white or black with low-profile soft-touch keys that provide a responsive feel while remaining quiet. It has built-in media control buttons that work with iTunes as well as many Enhanced Smart Keys, or essentially shortcut keys, that make it easy to perform functions like cut, copy, paste, and undo. The keyboard is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery that recharges when connected to your computer or wall charger via USB. It comes with the USB charging cable as well as a carrying case for the keyboard. It is initially available only through Newe

Windows Phone 7 Facebook app usage spike suggests strong holiday sales

Image
Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 sales may finally be seeing a stronger performance as we approach the holiday season. The number of people using Microsoft’s Facebook Integration for Windows Phone 7 has shot up in the past two weeks from 1,000,000 on November 11 to 1,100,000 on November 25. According to previous calculations by the WMPU blog, this could mean a gain of over 600,000 new Windows Phone users this holiday. Microsoft has been promoting heavily this holiday, including installing a six-story tall Windows Phone-like electronic billboard in NYC as well as hosting a series of Windows Phone parties in 5 major US cities that kicked off earlier this month. The events are to introduce the HTC Radar, HTC Titan, Samsung Focus S, and Samsung Focus Flash. But perhaps, more of a driving force was the strong campaign in Europe for Nokia’s first Windows Phone called the Lumia 800. Nokia has launched a massive marketing campaign in the UK and intends to host a major one-time event taking place to

Pink Nintendo 3DS announced with nintendogs in tow

Image
For a product that was in a bit of trouble for having low sales the first few months it was out, Nintendo’s 3DS is certainly continuing to release the iterations, today’s announcement on a special packaged game and color combination, namely pink! The Nintendo 3DS in Pink joins the already available Flame Red 3DS bundled with Super Mario 3D Land and the also just announced Hyrule-toting Zelda edition of the gaming system, this team taking on the United States market this holiday season. And what’s better than pink Nintendo 3DS? A pink Nintendo 3DS with a puppy game in the box! You’ll either be choosing to grab a box with nintndogs + cats: French Bulldog and New Friends, or nintendogs + cats: Toy Poodle and New Friends. Goodness gracious that’s a long name for a video game. You’ll be much better off picking up one of these for your feminine chile than picking up a real puppy, and of course you’ve always got the excuse for picking up a video game system in “it’ll improve hand-eye coordina

Google I/O 2012 extended to three full days of fun

Image
This year we saw the biggest Google I/O yet, complete with free tablets, free Chromebooks, and a few modems to round out the bunch – and next year promises to trump the entire past with today’s announcement of an extension to three days. The event is usually just a tiny little thing with no more than a few large keynotes and some presenters, no big deal, (I’m sure some of you will have a heart attack and disagree), but next year promises to be a big bang to say the least. June 27th until the 29th is the time, and we’ll be there to show off all Google ends up offering up. We’ll be seeing fabulous developer announcements ranging from Google apps to Android apps and everything in-between. Google I/O is going to be taking place at the Moscone Center West in San Francisco, California, and if there’s one thing we know from past representations of the I/O event, we know we’ll be seeing some freebies. The application to get in on this event will be popping up in February, and we’ll be sure to

LG Nitro HD Official, dual-core, AT&T LTE, and 720p display

Image
This week starts with a bang as AT&T reveals the LG Nitro HD, a handset that’s just the third LTE-enabled device on their network and one that packs a lovely 4.5-inch True HD AH-IPS display. Inside you’ll find a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, an 8 megapixel camera on the back, and the whole body is amongst the slimmest LG has ever offered at 5.27” X 2.67” X 0.41”. You’ll be treated to a demonstration of how nice the display actually looks courtesy of the official LGgirl here in this post. This device has 4GB of onboard memory and a microSD card slot that comes with a 16GB card in the box. The display is the real superhero here at 500 nit and AH-IPS technology (that’s Advanced High-Performance In-Plane Switching, just so you know). Battery efficiency, high resolution, and brightness on the horizon. Have a peek at how it works here: This is the first offering from LG that looks to be a top-class contender in a while, the last being the LG Optimus 2X (aka the G2x), a the first dual-core

Samsung Galaxy Note LTE made official

Image
Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Note LTE, the version of its pen-enabled 5.3-inch Android smartphone packing 4G connectivity. Initially expected to go on sale in South Korea, a Verizon launch in the US is not outside the realms of possibility, though the carrier has not yet commented on whether it will be offering the handset. In fact, the Galaxy Note isn’t currently available in the US at all, though the quadband UMTS/HSPA support does mean that the existing European model will work with AT&T’s network. In our Galaxy Note review, we found the smartphone/tablet hybrid to offer considerably greater stylus precision than HTC’s pen-enabled Flyer, while the 1.4GHz dual-core processor and 720p HD display added up to an excellent multimedia and gaming device. Meanwhile, Samsung has released the S-Pen SDK, the software toolkit allowing Android app developers to take advantage of the stylus input on the Note. The smartphone is expected to get an Ice Cream Sandwich update in the

Kinect 2 rumor points to lip reading accuracy

Image
The Microsoft Kinect for the Xbox 360 turned out to be a really cool device that was useful form a lot more than the gaming controller it was meant to be. With rumors of a new Xbox 720 game console swirling it would make sense that some rumors of a new Kinect would be making waves as well. According to the latest set of rumors tipped to Eurogamer, the Kinect 2 is in the works. According to the source of the rumors, the new Kinect 2 will have very impressive accuracy. In fact, the accuracy of the new device is claimed to be good enough to lip read. According to devs supposedly familiar with the new device, it is also able to determine what direction the players are facing and it can even tell if the player is angry. It is claimed to be able to read other emotions too. Pocket-lint reports that one of the limiting factors in accuracy for the current Kinect is the data that can be transferred across the USB connection. It’s unclear if that means the Kinect 2 with increased accuracy will us

Toyota Fun-Vii “smartphone on wheels” concept revealed

Image
Toyota has taken the wraps off its latest car concept, the Fun-Vii, a display-clad urban vehicle described as a “smartphone on four wheels.” Revealed just ahead of the Tokyo Auto Show in a few days time, the Toyota Fun-Vii measures just over 4m long and 1.75m wide, and features dynamically customizable body panels that, like the interior of the car, can be updated to show your favorite photo, a text message or other content. Meanwhile there’s augmented reality navigation information, together with what Toyota describes as a “navigation concierge” with speech-controlled directions. Live OTA updates keep the in-car computers constantly up to date, and networking systems allow it to communicate with other road users “allowing it to detect other potentially hazardous vehicles – such as vehicles in blind spots – in advance, or to connect with friends who are driving nearby.” In addition to being able to control the Fun-Vii from onboard, Toyota has developed a companion smartphone app for re

Best Buy cancels PlayBook orders, yanks listings

Image
The BlackBerry PlayBook has not been successful on the market. There were so many issues with the RIM tablet that it never caught on, yet RIM refused to kill the tablet despite the fact that even at fire sale prices the PlayBook didn’t sell. The latest blow to the PlayBook comes as Best Buy pulls its listings for the tablet and reportedly cancels orders. Electronista reports that its checks indicated Best Buy cancelled orders at one location, while multiple Best Buy forum users claim the same thing. Some customers claim to have been told that the reason for the pulling of the tablet was that Best Buy was “overextended”. Often products on the website that are backordered are left up if the product is expected in soon. It’s possible that the PlayBook had a short term success with the bargain prices it has been offered at, and simply sold all the stock available. With more competitors on the market already and the PlayBook lacking basic functionality like native email, in its current form

Siri controls Spotify in new iPhone 4S mod

Image
The Siri hacks continue, with Apple’s voice control system now capable – unofficially at least – of managingSpotify on your desktop. The handiwork of mobile developer Simon Maddox, the plugin reacts to natural artist requests, such as “Spotify, play me some Nirvana”, and automatically queues up songs. As well as creating playlists, it’s also possible to use the system to control actual playback. Saying “pause,” “play the next song,” “play the previous song” and “what song is this?” is all supported; the plugin Maddox released uses the same SiriProxy software as we saw controlling Plex media playback among other things. You can grab the relevant Spotify for SiriProxy files here, and Maddox has released them as open-source if you fancy a tinker. Obviously you’ll need an iPhone 4S in order to actually use Siri, since the whole proxy system relies on Apple’s remote servers crunching your spoken commands.

HTC juggles 3G in German patent case

Image
HTC may claim its 2012 range will “focus on the product” to restore the company’s upward momentum, but the current line-up could be yanked from German shelves if patent courts have their way. The company is under attack from patent holder IPCom over 3G/UMTS standards used without licensing in its smartphones, a charge HTC claims has been negated by the dismissal of the patent, but which, FOSSPatents reports, may not be as clear-cut as presented. “On November 25, 2011, HTC withdrew its appeal in the IPCom EP1186189 case, finding that the appeal had become redundant since the German Federal Patent Court had previously held the relevant claim of the patent to be invalid. IPCom’s original injunction covered only one HTC handset, which is now obsolete and is no longer sold in Germany. Furthermore, HTC has modified its implementation of the UMTS standards, so even in the unlikely case that the Mannheim court reinstates an injunction, it will have no impact on HTC’s sales in Germany” HTC stat

LG announces Android 4.0 ICS smartphone upgrade plans

Image
There are hoards of Android users around the world with smartphones of different brands that are waiting in anticipation to see if their device will be upgraded to Android 4.0 when the OS launches. That launch is expected to happen in early 2012. The new OS will bring lots of new features and capability to various devices on the market already. LG has unveiled via Facebook what devices will get the upgrade first. We have already gone hands on with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the past and liked it. The latest smartphone market to come out and say what devices would be upgraded to ICS is LG. LG’s official Facebook post has confirmed that several of the maker’s most popular devices will get the ICS upgrade. The first device will be the newer high-end smartphone including the Optimus 2X, Optimus Black, Optimus 3D, and Optimus LTE. LG also notes that it is working on evaluating ICS to determine if other smartphones in the HTC line can be updated to ICS and still function. LG will post

Samsung Wave 3 launches around the world

Image
If you like Samsung smartphones with alternative operating systems you might want to listen up with the Wave 3 smartphone launching globally. The Wave 3 is a nice looking smartphone that runs the Samsung bada OS. We were hands on with the Wave 3 back in early September. Samsung calls the Wave 3 smartphone its flagship offering and it has a 4-inch WVGA super AMOLED screen. The Wave 3 also runs a 1.4GHz processor and has a 5MP rear camera with autofocus and a LED flash along with a VGA resolution front camera. It operates on networks that will let it work in countries around the world. The Wave 3 runs BADA 2.0 and as of today, it is available in Germany, Italy, Russia, as well as the French market it first launched in. Samsung notes the smartphone will come to other countries later this year. There is barely a month left in this year so those other locations will have to come soon. We also heard in September that Bada would go open source in 2012.

Chevrolet Volt safety investigation yields more battery pack fires

Image
The Chevrolet Volt is an interesting car that GM touted as an extended range electric vehicle that has been under investigation recently after one Volt caught on fire. The first Volt to catch fire happened in the parking lot of a US crash test facility. That Volt caught fire three weeks after a crash test and the fire was caused by a ruptured battery pack. The fire sparked an investigation into the Volt and other EVs made by major automakers. So far, the investigation into the battery packs of the Volt has required three more Volt vehicles be subjected to crash testing. The NHSTA crash testing intentionally damaged the battery packs by rupturing the cooling line. In the first test, there was no fire, but a temporary temperature increase was noted the day after the accident. The second test battery pack was monitored and caught fire 7-days after the accident. The third vehicle crash tested began to spark and smoke within hours of the test. All of the test vehicles were subjected to an i

Awesome EXOdesk has interactive 40-inch touchscreen embedded

Image
You can put a 40-inch touchscreen on top of your desk if you are so inclined, but the cool EXOdesk is the first piece of furniture I have seen with a big 40-inch touchscreen inside the desk surface. The geeks over atTheLongClimb have a bunch of photos of the EXOdesk along with some of the interactive screens that the big touch panel in the surface can show. The EXOdesk comes from EXOpc, the company behind the tablet that looked interesting last year. According to the details, the 40-inch touchscreen has 10-point touch and 1080p resolution. The viewing angles are supposed to be 178-degrees and it will be shown off at CES in January. The manufacturer of that display device is being kept secret, but is supposed to be well known. This reminds me more than a little of Microsoft Surface. The desk will run apps made using HTML5. The surface will have touchpad zones and a keyboard that can be changed for use by anyone. A dev kit is available with JavaScript extensions and more. EXOdesk can be

MacBook Air refresh in Q1 includes 15-incher say sources

Image
Apple is reportedly readying a new MacBook Air line-up for early 2012, with a new 15-inch model joining the existing sizes as the Cupertino company reacts to Intel’s Ultrabook push. The new 11.6-, 13.3- and 15-inch ultraportables will go on sale in Q1 next year, DigiTimes‘ supply chain sources claim, with pilot production believed to have already begun. Meanwhile, retail insiders suggest a MacBook Air price cut is in the pipeline before the new models arrive. Whether those price cuts are official or made by third-party resellers is unclear, however. The sources point to last week’s Black Friday discounts – which included $101 off a MacBook Air from Apple’s own store – as well as other retailers’ discounting as evidence, though the company has traditionally been reluctant to discount outgoing models until the new versions hit shelves. Specifications for the updated MacBook Air have not been revealed, though it is possible that the notebooks could use Intel’s new Ivy Bridge processors, t

Apple Stores use cool tech to find shoppers needing assistance

Image
Apple has been embracing tech for a long time and a new app that Apple Store workers use in the store helps them to find exactly where a shopper is that needs help and to find the person in store to pick up a purchase. The app is used by the store workers running on iPod touch devices. The company has been one of the more innovative retailers out there in any market and the new app continues that tradition. The in store assistance portion allows the person looking at a product on display to push a button on the iPads near the displays and summon assistance. It appears that the app used in the store shows a red indicator on the display needing assistance. The cooler function of the app though is when the shopper enters to the store to pick something up purchased using the Apple Store App. If the shopper picks the item, they bought up in store after purchasing with the app, the app alerts the store workers that the person is there for pick up. Then the worker can bring the items out to t

Galaxy Nexus volume bug fix released

Image
Samsung and Google may not have released their fix for the Galaxy Nexus volume flaw yet, but that hasn’t stopped the Android modding community from addressing the problem itself. A patch said to be the official release to address the problem – which sees volume fluctuate when the 2G 900MHz band is used – has been released by MoDaCo, ahead of Samsung’s own schedule which is believed to have temporarily stopped shipments. Details of Samsung’s fix are unclear, though according to retailers the company has recalled shipments of the Galaxy Nexus and intends to replace them with a fixed version. That’s been seen as an indication that the fault is a software one – or a hardware flaw that can at least be addressed by a software patch – though neither Samsung nor Google will say anything more than that they’re working on it. The fix requires that you unlock the bootloader of the Galaxy Nexus, but beyond that it’s a case of punching in a few commands. It’s worth noting that your phone will be wi

$2m AT&T hack funded terrorists

Image
Cash scooped from hacked AT&T business accounts was used to fund terrorist attacks in Asia, local law enforcement has revealed, with four recently arrested hackers believed to have connections to Al Qaeda and the 2002 Bali bombing. The scheme has been operating since 2009, the Philippines Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) believe, while the FBI told the New York Times this weekend that it is cooperating with local police. Although AT&T has not confirmed any figures, reports suggest it has cost the carrier almost $2m to refund affected customers. The four suspects – three men and a woman – were arrested in a joint effort between the CIDG and the FBI in Metro Manilla on November 23. At the same time, telecoms equipment believed to be used in the hack was confiscated. Although the FBI only requested CIDG support in March 2011, after discovering that AT&T’s network had been a target, the latest hacking attempts are believed to be the continuation of an operation

Acer Iconia Tab A200 video promo leaks

Image
What looks to be the first video promo for Acer‘s new Iconia Tab A200 tablet has leaked, billing the Android slate as an ideal way to consume and share multimedia. Yet to be officially announced, though spotted in a user-profile among the support data on Acer’s site, the A200 is expected to be a budget tablet still running NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 rather than the newer quadcore Tegra 3 chipset. Also among the hardware tipped is a 1280 x 800 display, Bluetooth 2.0 and a microSD card slot, while the video tips a USB port capable of mounting external drives to access media stored on them. There’s no record for an Acer Iconia Tab A201, the company’s usual nomenclature for 3G-enabled variants, which suggests that WiFi is the only flavor of tablet in this particular series. Similarly unclear is OS version, with Acer giving no indication of whether the Iconia Tab A200 will run Android 3.x Honeycomb or 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Acer looks to have modified the US itself anyway, with different icon graphi

Maybach axed as 2013 Mercedes S-class takes the wheel

Image
Mercedes will axe its luxury Maybach line in 2013, insiders in the company have revealed, with a new S-class expected to sate the needs of wealthy road users. “It is better to cut our losses with Maybach” a supposedly high-level Mercedes-Benz source told Autoweek, “than to continue into an uncertain future with a brand that has failed to live up to original sales expectations.” Maybach cars found some favor among the custom-obsessed, thanks to Mercedes’ willingness to modify and tweak vehicles according to buyer whim; its hefty power-plants and brutal looks also saw third-party firms try their hand at customization, such as Xenatec’s outlandish Cruiserio. The brand rode a short wave of popularity among rap artists, though was subsequently usurped by Rolls Royce’s distinctively luxe Phantom and later convertible variants. Even so, rap’s target audience generally lacked the cash to follow the trend. Those who do have sufficient funds will find Mercedes still eager to swipe their credit c

Sony and Hitachi 4-inch iPhone 5 LCDs shipping say insiders

Image
Whispers of a larger touchscreen for the iPhone 5 continue, with Hitachi and Sony tipped to have already begun shipping 4-inch LCD panels for a new Apple iOS device. Although the supply chain sources speaking Japanese site Macotakara did not specifically confirm that the 4-inch display is for the sixth-gen iPhone, the suggestion fits with leaks earlier in the month. In addition to the 4-inch panel, both firms have apparently also begun shipping the LCD display for the iPad 3. The third-gen tablet is rumored to be the first to use a so-called Retina Display, offering considerably higher pixel-density than the existing 1024 x 768. Instead, that’s expected to double to 2048 x 1536, offering improved text rendering and crisper images. According to previous leaks, Apple will lengthen the iPhone 5 by around 8mm to accommodate the increase in screen size. The phone will have a metal casing, though not the distinctive teardrop-shaped profile rumored ahead of the iPhone 4S launch this year. Tha

HTC: 2012 “focus on the product” to avoid Nokia fate

Image
HTC has insisted it is not another Nokia, relying on a “focus on the product” in early 2012 including “some worldwide flagship products” to restore its position in the smartphone market. Despite investors’ negative reaction to HTC slashing its Q4 forecast last week, CFO Winston Yung is still confident the company can turn things around; “I don’t think it’s so serious” the finance chief told Reuters, suggesting that both LTE devices for the US and other products for the international market were on the cards. “We will focus on the product next year, better and more competitive” Yung argued. “Other than new LTE phones for the U.S. market, we also have phones for the global market. We will launch some worldwide flagship products. We’re confident in them.” Although the share price is still falling, Yung said that HTC wasn’t in the same situation as Nokia, currently the byword for struggling in the mobile industry. “We have six quarters of improvement, the most conservative guidance is 45 m

There appears to be a new Android powered smartphone on the way from Samsung, one so small it’d have to be a mid-range phone, and with a button in the center front so large it’d have to be internationally bound. The only image of the device so far is very low-resolution, so it’s difficult to determine it’s exact dimensions. Other than the model number, there’s not much shown of the new phone. It’s clear that is has the standard set of Android app icons, but it’s unknown at this time what version of the Android OS it’s running or what it’s specs might be. Design wise, it seems to be keeping in line with it’s older sibling, the Samsung Galaxy S, however in a smaller screen size and with a lower resolution screen. With the naming scheme for Samsung running from Y to M to S as announced earlier this year, we’ve got to guess that this’ll end up closer to the Young side. Here in the USA, we might never see such a device as we’ve already got such gems as the Samsung Dart, but you never know!

ARM launches toolkit for Android – Promises better performance than Java code

Today, ARM announced their new Android development toolkit, Development Studio 5 (DS-5) Community Edition (CE). The free software will let Android developers create applications that can run up to four times faster than Java code on Android. What makes it unique compared to the SDK and NDK development tools is that DS-5 CE will help developers to be more energy efficient in terms of performance. DS-5 Community Edition’s purpose is to make life easier for Android application developers. The toolkit allows one to see processor information, as well as allowing the development of Java and C/C++ code. It also includes an integrated graphical debugger. The toolkit features the ARM Streamline Performance Analyzer, which captures information on system performance and makes it easier for developers to see problems in their code and make it more efficient. Support for Streamline can be added with an open source driver from Linaro. The goal is to help developers create amazing user experiences wi

Use Siri to control your Plex media

You don’t need wait for Apple’s much rumored TV set to use iOS 5‘s most talked about feature, Siri, to control your media with Plex. There is a new tool available called SiriProxy that was created to control a thermostat, and has also been adapted to start cars and control other apps. SiriProxy will take your voice commands before they reach Apple’s servers and use them in other ways. Plex is a software that will play local and online media. When connected with a TV, Plex will receive user commands from SiriProxy. The video shows verbal commands taken from Siri used to select and play media on the Plex connected TV. Not only are instructions received almost immediately, but you can say more than just to play a show. The user gives instructions to play the latest episode of a show, as well as specifying an episode number within a particular season. This could be a real indicator of what’s to come with Apple’s future TV plans. In what other ways/devices could Siri be successfully impleme
