The promos of this Farhan - Deepika starrer have generated tremendous curiosity and audiences are looking forward to this romantic thriller with bated breath. Your first baby Karthik Calling Karthik (KCK) is a few weeks away from release, how is the feeling? I'm still finishing the post, so I've had absolutely no time to sit back and think about my condition. Chaos and lack of awareness of what is to follow prevails ( smiles ). Everyone is curious to know about your background. So could you brief us o

The whole point of acting is to assume personalities that you cannot be in your own life." So we probe A

Big B returns to action roles with Budha - Don't F...k With Him

Image
This would be the first Big B film to have a profanity attached to its title. But Budha Don't F**k With Him - yup, that's what the next Big B flick is titled-is about an aging dude with an attitude. Koi Shaq ? Well, f..k that shaq ! Telugu super-director Poori Jagannath who has to his credit the biggest hit ever Pokhiri (remade with Salman Khan as Wanted recently) in Andhra Pradesh, is all set to enter Hindi cinema with an actioner which will star Amitabh Bachchan in and as Budha . The unusual and eyeball-grabbing tagline for this out-and-out masala film is, 'Don't F**k With Him', obviously a brainwave of Ram Gopal Varma who's going to produce the film. Laughing at rumours that he is making a film on the life and teachings of Gautam Buddha Poori Jagannath says, "Mr. Bachchan's character is actually quite angry and very violent. I've written the role especially for him. It is that of a 60-year old man who refuses to accept his age. Any time so

Rakesh Roshan reworking on Krrish 3's script

Image
Rakesh Roshan has no option left but to re-work on the script of Krrish 3 . The sole reason being that the script which Roshan had penned down more than a year back has the same plot as Spiderman 3 . A source close to the director reveals, "Rakesh Roshan had written portions of Krrish along with other writers. The movie turned out to be a major hit. He does not want the sequel to be any less. The director sat down almost two years back and was penning down the script to Krrish 3 . But to his surprise, Spiderman 3 which released then had the same plot as he had ideated." The source continues, "At that point, Rakesh Roshan kept the script back into his drawer and started working on his production Kites . Now that Kites is almost done and will be releasing soon, Rakesh has gone back to re-working on the script of Krrish 3 . She has had a fall during each one of his films and subsequently each of the films has gone on to become super hits. So much so that everyone in his gang believes that it is their good luck charm. Its celebrities galore on Zee TV's reality show 'Dance India Dance'! Right from reminiscing the memories of his struggling days with Geeta Kapur to his choicest memories with each of the mentors - Vivek clearly stole the hearts of one and all. The enthusiasm with which he entered the stage and got himself involved in the show clearly showed that Dance India Dance was unquestionably one of his favourite shows. He was totally enthralled by Shakti and Kunwar's contemporary urban hip-hop act on 'bheegi bheegi si hai raatein bheegi bheegi' and Binny and Kishore's 'SAATHIYA act'... Arshad Warsi: Red light sequence was necessary

In one of the highlight scenes of ISHQIYA, Arshad Warsi reaches out to a teenage boy and asks him for directions to a red light area. Rarely before in a Hindi film has a leading man been shown to be so frivolous but Arshad has no qualms about breaking away from the trend. Recounting the hilarious sequence, which established his character of Babban, Arshad smiles, "This sequence was pretty much required as it was reflective of this character, who doesn't believe in love and only seeks lust." One can't help but ask him that what really convinced him to do this scene and a lot of others which showed the raunchy side of him. "In ISHQIYA, both Naseer and I have our point of views when it comes to the lady in our lives - Vidya Balan ", Arshad begins to elaborate, "The entire romantic encounter is quite balanced actually because there is a man who has seen life (Naseer) and hence is in love with her. On the other hand I being the younger lot is in lust with h

Riteish: Half information is always bad information

Image
Shortly after the release of Riteish Deshmukh's last release ALADIN, it was reported that the young actor was seen sulking on the sets of Ram Gopal Varma 's RANN. There were two theories making the rounds. While the first stated that it was due to Riteish's disappointment over the tanking of ALADIN at the box office, another was that he was 'instructed' to behave in such manner in order to get into the 'skin of the character' that he portrayed in RANN. Amused by this piece of news making the rounds, Riteish chose to completely ignore the insinuation and carried on with his personal and professional life. Now as RANN has released, Riteish can't help smiling as he looks back at the entire episode. "The problem is that half information is always bad information", says Riteish who was caught unaware when he was first asked about this three months ago. "Me sulking on the sets of my own film? Now can it sound stranger than that? In fact it all s

Now, Aishwarya Rai at Rs 10 crore

Image
Forget Kareena Kapoor . If she made news for becoming the highest paid actress in bollywood for commanding a fee of Rs 7 crore, so what? Now, the focus has shifted from Kareena Kapoor to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The latest buzz doing the round is that the Bachchan bahu has been offered a fee of Rs 10 crore for one of her upcoming films. Going by the industry pay scale, if this deal happens, Ash would be ahead of many male stars as far as the film fee is concerned. At Rs 10 crore, Ash has shown that she is one of the most sought after actresses in B-Town, leaving most of her competitors way behind.

Priyanka Chopra: I am not a part of DOSTANA 2

Image
Putting all speculations to rest, Priyanka Chopra has clarified once and for all that she is not a part of DOSTANA 2. Over the last few months, ever since it was announced that DOSTANA 2 was pretty much happening, there were murmurs around who would be the leading lady of this Tarun Mansukhani franchise that stars Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham in the lead. While Priyanka Chopra was indeed a bright spot in this Karan Johar production, one wondered if the lady would return for DOSTANA 2 since she had already walked away with Bobby Deol in the original. "No, I am not the leading lady of DOSTANA 2", Priyanka sets the record straight, hence diffusing yet another rumour, "My story had ended in DOSTANA and there was no point being paired with any of the boys (Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham) in the sequel. But yes, I will certainly be there in a special appearance and would return for a short while in the film as their friend." Well, with this 'dostana'

Shah Rukh Khan to ask - 'How far would you go for love?'

Have you ever wondered that how far would you go for love? If you haven't given it a thought so far then have your answer ready because Shah Rukh Khan would soon be asking this question across the country. This would be done as a part of promotional campaign for MY NAME IS KHAN which is all set to pick huge steam with only a fortnight to go for the film's release. "Yes, there is this huge campaign that has been designed around the strong essence of love that MY NAME IS KHAN carries. As a part of this, Shah Rukh would be travelling across the country and pop this question to the 'aam junta'. This would be his way of connecting with people who are waiting to catch him in MY NAME IS KHAN", confirms Karan Johar who has produced and directed the film. Establishing a connection with the people is fast turning out to be a trend amongst the Bollywood biggies, especially during last few years. Way back in 2006, it was Shah Rukh himself who had pioneered this trend wh

Bollywood box-office report of the week

Image
This week will see a solo release in the form of Chandan Arora 's Siddharth starrer STRIKER. Yes, there is also THE HANGMAN but it is an English language film and even otherwise it will not achieve anything significant. Coming back to STRIKER, the film has managed to arouse curiosity, based on another sustained innovative publicity campaign by Studio 18 and also due to the fact that it brings back the RANG DE BASANTI star after four years (Siddharth) and he teams up with the director (Chandan Arora) of films like MAIN MADHURI DIXIT BANNA CHAHTI HOON and MAIN MERI PATNI AUR WOH. And on that count the film may score at places. Last Friday's three way 'unconventional' clash between Ramgopal Varma's RANN, Vishal Bhardwaj's ISHQIYA and the Amit Rai directed ROAD TO SANGAM went in favour of the Abhishek Chaubey directed ISHQIYA. While RANN saw a very dull opening in Bombay-Thane, the start was unbelievably poor across India. On the other hand ISHQIYA had a good start

Bollywood tunes in to music bands

Move over albums and live shows. Bollywood is the newest platform for music bands to belt out their best. Be it Kailasa or Midival Punditz, they have been roped in to create film music that is 'different' and the bands say the visibility and money are too good. The upcoming 'Karthik Calling Karthik' and 'Mumbai Cutting' are two prime examples. 'It's a transition of the Indian film industry in Mumbai. They have started accepting and appreciating different styles. Cinema goers now appreciate variety. They like cutting edge music and international standards rather than typical film music,' Tapan Raj, member of Midival Punditz, told IANS. 'The new age cinema that has taken birth has given rise to the requirement of new age music,' he added. Raj and Gaurav Raina, who constitute Midival Punditz, have collaborated with Indian American composer and musician Karsh Kale to form MPKK, a new production unit for their film music projects, in

Working with Indian stars has always excited me: Baz Luhrmann

Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann finds a reflection of Shakespeare's plays in Bollywood films and was so impressed with Indian stars and Hindi movies that he used the song 'Chamma, Chamma' in his musical 'Moulin Rouge'. Now the Oscar-nominated director is keen to work on a film in India and collaborate with music maestro A.R. Rahman. 'There are a number of classic stars here and there are a few new Indian actors as well who are doing things differently. The idea of working with Indian actors has always excited me and if it works out I definitely will. I am keeping my fingers crossed,' Luhrmann told IANS in an interview. This is Luhrmann's fourth trip to India. So did he gather from the trip any fodder for his next project? 'I wouldn't say fodder, but every time I come here it has had a direct effect on my life and my work. There are many things I am working on. I have many pieces that could be played in India,' he said. Luhrmann'

Bigger B Plays Maratha Card Virtually!

Image
The Bigger B was rather spaced out! Er, sorry, rather… he showed up to inaugurate a cyber event! The launch of a website: www.ajayatul.com, spearheaded by the sibling duo of Marathi music composers Ajay-Atul. Furthermore, they also celebrated their unprecedented success at the '56th National Film Awards' for winning the 'National Film Award for Best Music Direction' for their Marathi film 'Jogwa'. "This is the first time that a Marathi film has won the National award for 'Best Music' and that makes us feel rather proud and humbled at the same time," avers Ajay. Bachchan cut a mock ribbon on the computer, flagging off the website run. "We've also had a long standing association with Marathi cinema," revealed Bachchan. "Our production 'Vihir' has made it to the South Korea Film Festivals, and also to film festivals at Berlin and London. Besides, I've been told that it's also been invited to two other big film fe

Hansika Loses Face On Facebook!

No great shakes. Hansika Motwani hasn't been handpicked for a future project by Mani Ratnam / Sanjay Leela Bhansali / Ashutosh Gowariker / whoever …..Yet, she's turned newsy. Hansika earned the luminous distinction of being the latest victim of cyber crime! The actress claims that her Facebook account has been hacked, though, unfortunately she hasn't been able to figure out the nefarious hands behind it. Reportedly, she has informed the Mumbai police, although she is yet to file a formal complaint. A close source states, "The hacker had not only sneaked into her account, but had also changed her password. For five days she was unable to get on the social networking page." A harried Hansika confessed to the media, "I was scared that people who had hacked my account would misuse it." Other svelte suspects who were subjected to cyber trauma are Riya Sen and Shamita Shetty . Guess, Hansika has saucy (cyber) company.

Good Ness Gracious: B School Preity Kool!

Her liaison with Ness Wadia hit Splitsville a while ago, but Preity Zinta has moved on in life… and has returned to school!! To Harvard Business School, that is. "I did it because I wanted to go to college," she declares in a newspaper quote."I wanted to learn about business management so that I could become a better entrepreneur." Her professional equation with Wadia, though, is under the piercing gaze of the scribe tribe. "They expect awkwardness in our relationship," she states, "But we're still good friends and colleagues, although we're not seeing each other." Zinta is hassled as hell, since none of her male friends want to risk being spotted with her publicly. "I'm linked with every male that I go out with," she admits, making a moue. "After the Ness episode it has become worse. If I go out with a single man, I have to beg some women friends to come along, so that the media doesn't begin speculating again.&quo

'Idiot' Sharman's Kind Strokes

thumping blockbuster. The '3 Idiots' star, however, also happens to be a great Samaritan at heart. Apparently, while shooting for 'Toh Baat Pakki!' on a bridge, Sharman Joshi learnt of an accident that had occurred close to their sets. Abandoning the filming, the actor rushed to the venue to assess the situation. He not only took charge of matters cannily, but sat by the victim's bedside… till the doctor declared that there was no real danger. Guess, all izz well, Sharman.

Sure 'Striker' Siddharth!

Image
He's gonna be up for board fortunes. 'Striker', the Chandan Arora helmed flick starring Siddharth, will showcase his potential as an actor and the South star is rather sanguine about it's outcome. "Don't just expect a good film, expect a brilliant one," he avers in a newspaper chat. "I've put a lot into 'Striker'. It's an author backed role and it spans 20 years in a man's life. I've even produced and sung two songs. And I've given four years of my life to it." In the interim, the actor turned down 'Delhi 6', 'Rock On!!' and 'Hook Ya Crook'. Declares Siddharth, "Even if I could turn the clock back, I'd still opt for 'Striker'." Confidence, anyone?

SRK 'sad' at furore over his IPL statement

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan , who is facing the Shiv Sena's ire for saying that he favoured Pakistani players' inclusion in the Indian Premier League (IPL), says he is 'sad' his comments are being misconstrued as being against a group. 'Sad my statements are seen as a stand against a group instead of a stand for myself and my individuality,' Shah Rukh tweeted Wednesday evening. 'Differences in ideology should be grounds for debates and discussion. A must for freedom of thought. To see it any other way is so unfortunate,' he added. The actor, who was heading for a presser, was also upset considering the obvious questions headed his bay. 'Going for (a) press conference. (It) will be same question on same topic. (I) wish it was simpler and I could just talk about what I love most.. making films,' he posted. Shah Rukh, who owns the Kolkata Knight Riders team of IPL, had spoken against the exclusion of Pakistani cricketers from

Katrina arrives fashionably late for award

Popular Bollywood actor Katrina Kaif Wednesday arrived fashionably late at an event here to collect an award for excellence in performing arts, but looking gorgeous in a green sari she more than made up with profuse apologies. The British model-turned-actress was invited to collect her pending award for excellence in performing arts 2009 by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham). She could not take it last year as she was unwell that time. While a source present at the function told IANS the 'flight delay' was the reason for her delay, Swati Piramal, Assoham president, had a different story to fill in the media with, before Katrina's arrival. 'Katrina was supposed to accept the award from Mrs. Vadra (Priyanka Gandhi Vadra). Mrs. Vadra was to come from Rae Bareilly but she has not been able to join because some political thing that has happened (there),' Piramal addressed reporters here. 'Now we are waiting (to know) if

Mulayam pressurised into sacking Amar: Jaya Bachchan

Expelling Amar Singh from the Samajwadi Party (SP) could not have been party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's decision, actor-MP Jaya Bachchan said Wednesday. 'I don't think the decision to expel Amar Singh from the party has anything to do with Mulayam Singhji. I think that he has been pressurised to take this decision,' Bachchan told NDTV, a day after her close friend Amar Singh was sacked from the primary membership of the SP. 'My association with Mulayam Singhji has always been open as he has always allowed party members to speak their mind and he has been democratic in his vision,' she added. According to Bachchan, Amar Singh's views didn't go down well with party members. 'I think the kind of noises Amar was talking about was right. We have to modernise our way of thinking, we have to evolve and that is what he wanted to bring in the party. This incident is very unfortunate,' explained Bachchan. 'The problem is that he (Am

The actor-MP described herself as an upfront and straightforward person who would never contest elections. 'I can't handle politics at all. I am a very straightforward person.
