Fringe: the Myth of Peter and the Importance of Remembering

Image
I recently reviewed  new book on Fringe (Into the Looking Glass: Exploring the Worlds of Fringe, ECW Press). Its official publication date is not until the first of October, so this was a nice surprise, not to mention a great way to start the season! There’s a chapter in there titled “The Father, the Son and the Trans-universal Machine,” which may sound a bit grandiose—it’s really just a chapter on Peter—but now that I’m reviewing it for the first time in print, I am reminded of the extraordinary religious allegory of the season 3 finale. Fringe is giving Lost a run for its money.

Fringe Bosses Give Status of Peter Bishop

Image
I imagine if the Fringe conference call I attended earlier this week with show-runners Jeff Pinkner and JH Wyman were attended by fans rather than members of the press (not to say there weren't numerous fans among us) it would have gone quite differently. The image that comes to mind is fevered hostage negotiations. Fringe fans around the world are nervously waiting to hear the fate of Peter Bishop and Pinker and Wyman addressed their concerns head on.

Tonight On Fringe: Season 4 Premiere "Neither Here Nor There"

Image
The last time we saw Fringe way back in May (can you believe it has been over four months already?), Peter travelled to the future, saw what the doomsday machine would cause and watched Olivia, his wife by then, get shot in the head by Walternate. Then he came back, created a bridge between the two universes so they could work together to avoid the apocalypse. And then he ceased to exist.

Archer: Heart of Archness Part 2 Recap

Image
In part two of the Archer three week event, Archer finds that being Pirate King isn't at all that it's cracked up to be. In fact, it's filled with the same sort of morale issues and office politics that his old position at ISIS had. Not very much for Sterling to 'Whooo!' about after all.At the beginning of the ep, we see that Sterling is taking advantage of all the spoils of his new title while refusing to care about any of his fellow pirates. His translator, Noah, comes in to address a series of concerns and of course Archer isn't having any of it as in a series of cutaway gags we see that clearly if Sterling's morale is up then so should everybody's. David Cross steals the show as I figured he probably would when his character first came in last week. There are just very few people with the delivery and vocal charisma as Cross and his voice of reason character is a great balance to Archer's reckless nature. And of course Noah can go from ally to th

When you watch enough reality TV, you learn lessons about how to survive on reality TV. For one, you'll likely look like a hypocrite at some point; to try and avoid that, know exactly what you feel and be consistent in expressing it. Sleeping with your castmate may not be the smartest move in the world, since you will be in a house, isolated by yourselves, for months on end. And most importantly, when you're having a heated argument with a fellow cast member, don't try to come for somebody else's throat because it will backfire on you.

The Vampire Diaries 3.02 "The Hybrid" Review

Image
This may only be episode 2 of the new season of The Vampire Diaries but we're off to a quick and gruesome start. In true Vampire Diaries fashion we got right to the heart (pun intended) of the story and the hybrid campaign of the title was dealt with in swift fashion. Poor Ray Sutton (David Gallagher); as soon as he stepped into that bar last week his writing was on the wall, but who could have predicted a death that was that torturous (I expected some level of pain but that was truly horrifying)? This was an episode that was high on the gore level all in the name of a hybrid army- from bleeding eyes to the standard Salvatore heart rip move. So Klaus' plan to make an army of hybrids failed despite his belief that he completed the sacrifice ritual correctly; Elena's (Nina Dobrev) life really will be in danger if Klaus finds out that he didn't actually kill her dead dead. Though let's hope that Stefan can get a better poker face next time the doppleganger is mention

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: When Altitude and Alcohol Mix...

Image
Last night's Real Housewives of Beverly Hills showcased an invited guest in the midst of our favorite ladies as they continued their vacation in Beaver Creek, Colorado. Ladies and Gents, meet Nervous Breakdown. The ultimate party pooper for any function. Nervous Breakdown seethed its way into Taylor, making it seem as if the poor woman was first possessed by what could be described as a helpless child before evolving into a semi-demonic entity hellbent on finding its makeup bag. Before the night was out, Taylor had worn numerous faces and emotions while the rest of the women carried the same three expressions of shock, dismay, and awkward throughout the entire night. In short, this was one roller-coaster of an episode.
