iBUYPOWER Paladin Comes in Four Flavors, is Extremely Overclockable

Image
We’ve got to hand it to iBUYPOWER. They know how to release the computer that just look fun to use. The Paladin series, announced today, is no difference. This is one of those products that we just want to touch. Sure, it doesn’t hurt that the innards of these things make us want to actually use them. The company has officially announced the latest in their Paladin series , and these are definitely a chip off the old block. Each of the four different variations of the Paladin are issued with the new Intel Core i7 980X Extreme Edition Processor, which makes the system quite the healthy benchmark demolisher. As the press release reads, the new systems are “extremely overclockable, and allow unmatched multitasking capability.” We just love the word overclockable. It’s unique. In any event, iBUYPOWER is banking on the fact that gamers won’t have to worry about how many windows/browsers they have open anymore, let alone if they’re listening to their favorite music or using GameSpeak, due

Microsoft Xbox 360 Software Update Will Bring USB Mass Storage

Image
While the hard drive that came with your Xbox 360 (unless you got the Arcade edition) may be plenty big, there’s still some trouble when you want to take your game somewhere other than your own console. While bringing the hard drive is easy enough, using something as small as a USB device, or Microsoft’s Memory Unit, would be preferable. Microsoft is looking to make the former happen, with a software updated that’s coming this Spring. According to Joystiq , they’ve confirmed that Microsoft has put into motion a software update that’s supposed to be issued this Spring. There aren’t any other details about the update to mention, but the addition of USB storage is pretty big news. Microsoft was pretty determined to push their Memory Units (which amass to 512MB), so this means you can use a USB memory stick of any size to move your files. So, what can you move? Xbox LIVE Arcade games, Xbox LIVE Indie games, Games on Demand, DLC, and Title Updates. Oh, and you can put full Xbox 360 games o

DTI 21.5-inch Full HD touchscreen display for $300

Image
Touchscreen displays are slowly making their way into the home, accelerated since Microsoft stepped up their touch functionality in Windows 7, but they’re still expensive. IDTI reckon they have a low-cost alternative , however; their 21.5-inch display responds to pen input and two-point multitouch thanks to a proprietary touch technology, but best of all they’re expecting to launch it with a $300 price tag. Video demo after the cut The IDTI screen is capable of displaying Full HD resolution video, and the digitizer technology doesn’t impair image quality like you’d find with a resistive touchscreen layer. It also allows you to rest your palm on the screen without it being recognized as a rogue touch, something previously you’d required a Wacom-style active digitizer to do. Now from CeBIT 2010 , Charbax seems to think that the display includes PC components like some of the all-in-one desktops we’ve seen lately, but according to IDTI’s site it’s a standalone display only. $300 would

Gear4 SoundOrb Aurora Review

Image
If you want to stand out in the increasingly crowded iPod speaker-dock market, you need a gimmick. That might be superlative audio quality, extreme design or some other sort of novelty; in Gear4’s case, they’ve given the SoundOrb Aurora two claims to fame. Not only does it come with a wireless subwoofer, the sub actually lights up in a variety of different colors. So, enough to catch your attention, but does the Gear4 SoundOrb Aurora do enough to warrant a lasting place in your living room? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut. Gear4’s concept is pretty easy to follow through. Most iPod speaker-docks suffer from mediocre bass, something you can solve by adding in a separate subwoofer; problem is, that’s more bulk than most people can be bothered to accommodate, and there’s extra cabling involved too. So, make the sub wireless, and give it a shot of LEDs so that users will actively choose to leave it out on show. Beyond that premise, the system is pretty straightforward. B

Eye-Fi Center management app finally released

Image
It’s taken them longer than expected, but hot on the heels of their Eye-Fi Pro X2 WiFi-enabled SDHC memory card comes the general release of Eye-Fi Center. Announced back at CES 2010 in January, the new app supplants the current web-app for management of one or more Eye-Fi cards together with adding in new media sharing functionality. There are in fact two elements to the new Center, one a native app and the other an Adobe AIR app. They’re both compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Mac OS X (10.5 & 10.6). Rather than just being able to share photos saved onto the Eye-Fi card itself, Eye-Fi Center also allows you to import photos from other sources – whether your archives or non-WiFi cameras – and share them too.

Canon adds six new LCD projectors for work and school

Image
Canon is mostly known for its line of cameras running the gamut from entry-level point-and-shoots to high-end DSLR with tons of features. Canon also makes a full range of other gear including projectors. Canon has added six new projectors to its line aimed at business users and education. The new models include the LV-8310, LV-8215, LV-7385, LV-7380, LV-7285, and LV-7280 projectors. All share many of the same features including a new lamp lighting system that reduces power consumptions and extends lamp life. The projectors also have a carbon reduction meter and an auto energy save function. A special standby mode also allows the projectors to use under 1W of power in stand-by mode. The major difference between the models is the brightness they offer. The 7385 has 3500 lumens, the 8310 and 7380 each have 3000 lumens, the 8215 and 7285 have 2600 lumens, and the 7280 has 2200 lumens. The line all feature DVI interfaces supporting HDCP and have RS-232 and Ethernet jacks. The 8310 will sel

Windows Phone 7 Tablet concept wants 3D calls

Image
We’re still waiting for the first Windows Phone 7 series handsets to go on sale – something not expected until late in 2010 – but that hasn’t stopped the dreamers among us wondering what larger devices based on the platform might look like. Designer Umang Dokey reckons the most obvious application is an 8-inch tablet , complete with a capacitive touchscreen and dual-webcams for 3D chat, and he’s put together the demo video to prove it. As well as spreading Microsoft’s Metro UI across a broader display, Dokey has also given it a hardware keyboard. A kick-stand on the back can flip around – Motorola BACKFLIP style – to act as a QWERTY ‘board, though we reckon the whole thing would be a little precarious in that orientation. There are also dual analog joysticks on the rear panel, used either for gaming or simply for scrolling through lists, and the whole thing is pleasingly slender. It’s certainly not the first time we’ve seen Microsoft’s mobile OS put on a tablet-sized device, thoug

NEC doubles production of USB 3.0 host controller

Image
Coming off of CES 2010 in January the amount of USB 3.0 gear that was at the show and the number of computers that were coming with USB 3.0 ports was a clear sign that the industry was going to adopt the new faster standard in force. NEC has announced that it is set to double the number of USB 3.0 host controllers that it produces each month to meet industry demand. NEC has been producing about a million host controllers and starting in April the firm will ramp that number up to two million units. The USB 3.0 host controller in question is the µPD720200 and it is used in computers and other consumer devices. The controller is based on the xHCI specifications from Intel. NEC began mass production of the controller in 2009 and has so far shipped three million units over the last year and a half. NEC must expect a much great demand for the host controller to increase monthly production to number 2/3 of the amount it has shipped over the last year and a half.

Intel Core i3, i5 & i7 notebook CPUs in short supply?

Image
Acer’s enthusiastic embrace of Intel’s latest Core i3, i5 and i7 “ Calpella ” notebook processors for their upcoming TimelineX range has seemingly thrown the chipmaker’s production lines into a panic, with DigiTime’s manufacturing sources reckoning that the CPUs are now in relatively short supply. That’s led Intel to prioritize the orders of first-tier manufacturers, meaning it may take a little longer for niche market notebooks to arrive. The sources haven’t been specific with the amount of delay involved, only saying that second-tier and smaller notebook firms will need to “wait much longer” before they can expect access to the Calpella processors. Part of Acer’s enthusiasm was their disappointment with performance from Intel’s CULV (consumer ultra-low voltage) CPUs, which enabled reasonable battery longevity but at the expense of performance. However, it also raises potential explanations for the absence of any apparent MacBook Pro update using the new processors, something we’

Google add Live Wallpaper & Latitude widget to Maps for Mobile 4.1

Image
Google have updated Google Maps for mobile 4.1 for Android devices, adding in much requested functionality like the ability to switch between Google accounts in the app – handy for tracking different Latitude and contacts – as well as making UI and other changes. As for eye-candy, the 4.1 brings with it the ability to set maps as homescreen Live Wallpaper, together with a new Latitude widget. Live Wallpapers include a choice of regular, satellite or topographical mapping, with optional traffic updates, while the Latitude widget shows the three contacts geographically closest to you. Meanwhile the UI changes include streamlining the way search results are displayed, including a swipe-gesture to show more results. The update is available for Android devices running OS 1.6 or above, though you’ll need an OS 2.1 handset if you want Live Wallpaper. You can update via the Android Market on your device.

Nokia X9 with Symbian^4, 1GHz CPU & 12MP camera leaks?

Image
After the apparent leak of Nokia’s C6 QWERTY slider comes another new handset from the company under its refreshed range nomenclature. The Nokia X9 is believed to be the successor to the Nokia X6, complete with a 1GHz Cortex A8 chipset, 12-megapixel camera with LED flash, HDMI and a 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. Elsewhere there’s HSDPA, WiFi and aGPS, along with 32GB of onboard storage and a 3.5mm headphone socket. The Symbian^4 device is expected to be capable of 720p HD video recording, and has some nifty social networking status updates too – along the bottom of that sizeable display run a series of icons for Twitter, Facebook, calls and messages, with a number indicating how many are unread or unanswered. Still, we’re a little sceptical since we’re not expecting Symbian^4 to arrive for another twelve months. This could all be the handiwork of a Nokia-loving Photoshop artist, but even if that’s the case we’re hoping the Finns are watching closely; there are certainly el

HTC “disagrees with Apple’s actions”; reiterates plan to fight it out

Image
First color touchscreen smartphone in 2002; first gesture-based smartphone in 2007; first 4G WiMAX smartphone in 2008… HTC have been laying their history out on the table, and it’s all designed to show Apple – and other industry observers – that they’re crowd leaders, not crowd followers. The company’s latest response to Apple’s patent legal threat has been to wheel out its record of innovation. It makes for reasonably impressive reading, too, especially to those people who forget that HTC acted as a whitebox OEM for various carrier partners before deciding to promote their own brand. The title of their statement – “HTC disagrees with Apple’s actions” – may be bordering on the unduly polite, but the underlying message from company CEO Peter Chou is still clear. ”[HTC] will fully defend itself … we will continue to embrace competition through our own innovation.” Don’t expect this battle to be over any time soon.

Google TV and Android Coming to the Living Room

Image
Ever felt like you needed to be able to check Twitter from an easier source than, say, your phone ? Or, how about that laptop you probably have dangerously close to you at all times? And, sure, some high-def TVs out there have widgets galore, and even your Xbox 360 can check the little blue bird’s site. So, what’s next? Well, at this point, all we can really tell you is that it involves Google, Intel, and Sony. The New York Times has been talking to people familiar with the matter, so that’s about all the official word we have on the project for now. Google is bringing Android, Intel is bringing the chips, and Sony is hoping beyond hope that if they tag along, people will want their TVs again. What is the goal? They want you to be able to make it from Twitter, to Picasa, and back again, just by “changing the channel.” At least, they want the experience to be that easy. Yes, this is sounding dangerously like WebTV, but we won’t hold that against the companies. In fact, we’re interested

Palm Pre and Pixi Face AT&T Launch Delays, Reduced Number of Units

Image
The launch of a Palm smartphone running webOS on AT&T’s network hasn’t actually been confirmed as of yet, but that’s not stopping the analysts from declaring their assumptions. The release of the AT&T Palm Pre (Plus?) and Pixi (Plus?) has been on the rumor mill for quite some time, and many people think it’s just about as confirmed as it can get without an actual official statement from Palm. It would be a great thing to see a webOS device hit AT&T, but not so much if these latest murmurings have any truth to them. Canaccord Adams analyst Peter Misek has come forward and spoken out about Palm’s latest speed bumps, elaborating on some of the issues that the company seems to be having in regards to releasing the two smartphones. The ramifications for the troubles? While the rumor put the initial release of the two smartphones in April or May, Misek is saying that the release has been pushed back until June, or even July. A summer release, to be frank. The strange part, is th

Google Nexus One Heading to Sprint

Image
If you’ll recall, the Google Nexus One launched back in January with T-Mobile USA exclusivity. It’s just been made available with the appropriate 3G bands to rock on AT&T’s 3G network (along with Rogers, up in Canada), and we just got word that the Google Phone, manufactured by HTC, is now officially coming to the Sprint Network. When the Nexus One launched, Google’s Phone Store reflected the T-Mobile availability, along with purchasing an unlocked version of the device at full retail pricing. At the bottom of the page though, you could see Verizon Wireless listed, as well as Vodafone across the pond. Google also admitted that the devices for those appropriate carriers would be launched later this year, and wold-be customers have been patiently waiting ever since. But now, from almost out of nowhere, we’ve got Sprint officially announcing that the 1GHz, Android 2.1, 3.7-inch AMOLED display beast is heading to their network. The device is still going to be sold through Google’s onli

Digital Storm DAVINCI workstation gets overclocked Core i7-940X

Image
Having shown you Digital Storm’s madly-overclocked BlackOPS gaming PC yesterday, now it’s the turn of their updated workstation, the DAVINCI , to get Intel’s latest Core i7-980X Extreme processor. The chip finds its way into the mid-range DAVINCI Professional model, kicking off at $4,995 (with a $350 discount if you scamper over and buy one straight away) complete with 12GB of DDR3 memory and NVIDIA PNY Quadro FX 1800 768MB graphics. As you might expect, the DAVINCI is targeted at video, audio and image editing rather than gaming. Still, Digital Storm will also happily overclock it for you before shipping it; as before, $248 will get you up to 4.4GHz out of the already potent hexacore chip. There’s also liquid-cooling and an optional Blackmagic Design HD Intensity Pro card which throws in a couple of HDMI inputs and some other A/V connectivity. The newly updated Digital Storm DAVINCI workstation is available to order now.

HTC Supersonic 4G launching at CTIA 2010 next week?

Image
HTC’s WiMAX-packing Supersonic has been something of a regular when it comes to the rumor-mill over the past few months, and it seems Sprint may be ramping up to an announcement next week. According to the WSJ’s “people familiar with the matter”, the Supersonic – expected to be an Android 2.1 device with a 4.3-inch display – will make its debut at CTIA 2010. Sprint and HTC aren’t saying anything, but the Supersonic is expected to take the stand on Tuesday as part of the carrier’s CTIA keynote. The company had previously only committed to a launch sometime in the first half of this year. At the time, the carrier’s business market’s president Paget Alves suggested that the Sprint 4G phone would be targeted at government and industrial clients rather than solely at consumers. However the WSJ also suggests that Sprint have recently changed their short-term incentive plan for employees, making signing up new contract customers to the WiMAX service a priority.

HTC Hero Android 2.1 update from April 4th?

Image
It’s looking more and more likely that HTC will miss their self-imposed deadline for the Android 2.1 update for the HTC Hero, which we were told back at MWC 2010 would arrive in February or March. According to a supposedly leaked timescale document on xda-developers, HTC in fact won’t start pushing out the update until April 2010, kicking off on April 2nd with the unlocked version of the smartphone. That will be followed by the T-Mobile UK/Germany and Orange UK/Spain handsets on April 16th, with other carrier-branded versions following later through the month and into May 2010. Notably absent is any mention of US devices. Of course, this could all be faked; we’ve got a request in for the latest information from HTC themselves, and will update with what we hear back. ThermaPAK HeatShift Pad Review

Image
When your product promises to do one thing and do it well, you’re potentially setting yourself up for a whole lot of criticism if the reality doesn’t match up to the sales claims. Latest to enter the arena is the ThermaPAK Laptop Cooling HeatShift Pad ; according to ThermaPAK slotting the pad under your notebook will result in better cooling than any fan-based rival can manage. Marketing hype or salvation for your toasty lap? Check the full SlashGear review to find out. ThermaPAK offer three different sizes of HeatShift, suited to 13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch notebooks, and in three different colors: black, pink and “Mac” white. Inside the quilted fabric are the company’s patented PCM crystals, which start off solid but, as heat is passed from the notebook to the pad, gradually change into their liquid form. When the heat source is removed the crystals solidify again. The theory goes that it’s faster than so-called active cooling by fans, better for your battery as it requires no power

ZOTAC offers world’s first ION graphics upgrade kit

Image
When NVIDIA pulled the wraps of the next-generation ION platform earlier this month, we knew discrete cards for upgrading computers were coming. ZOTAC has announced what it claims to be the world’s first ION Upgrade kits . The kit includes a ZOTAC SFF motherboard with a ION GPU built-in. the ION graphics card has 16 unified shaders and 512MB of DDR3 memory. It supports CUDA, PureVideo HD, DirectX 10.1, DirectComputer, OpenGL, and OpenCL. The core clock for the GPU is 589MHz, the shader clock is 1402MHz, and the memory clock is 790MHz. The card slips into PCI Express x1 slots and should make for a nice upgrade for a small HTPC. Outputs include DVI, HDMI, and VGA with an optional bracket. Pricing and availability are unannounced at this time.

Varma's Thrill Pill For John

Image
Dangerous missions make for engrossing story telling. Or so, opines Ram Gopal Varma, who's all set to cast John Abraham in 'Raksha' his 3D adventure flick, with technicians from the US and UK being roped in for some high voltage drama. Touted as a treasure hunt, triggered off by a clue in ancient history, J Abbs is expressly thrilled about the development, as it offers a new genre for the saucy actor. "John will have to train a bit and tone down his body in keeping with his role," discloses RGV in a media chat. "We intend to start shooting 'Raksha' later this year, though there is plenty of work to be done on the scripting and post production stage at the moment." Meanwhile, 'Warning,' Varma's 3D horror flick will be shoved to the backburner. Goodbye…chills, spills. Varma prefers thrills.

When Gerard Butler 'eloped' with Jennifer Aniston!

Gerard Butler has revealed that he tricked his mother by lying that he had eloped with Jennifer Aniston. The actor had gone on a holiday to Mexico to celebrate Aniston's 41st birthday. "I took the phone and said, 'Hey mum, I'm a little busy right now, I'm marrying Jennifer Aniston,'" the Daily Star quoted him as saying. He added: "Jen took the phone and had a conversation with my mum and introduced herself as my mum's daughter-in-law. My mum was so excited. She's desperate for me to get married."

Robbie Williams' cheeky dig at Mark Owen

After 'Take That' member Mark Owen admitted his womanising and drinking habits, fellow band mate Robbie Williams said he is glad he is not the one in trouble this time. The singer performed at a small gig in London, where he addressed the crowd before singing his track 'Bodies'. "This is going to be one of the best nights of my life, do you know, it's nice to be one of the only ones out of Take That not in trouble this week? That's a surprise, isn't it?" Sky News quoted him as saying. Meanwhile, Owen admitted to cheating on his wife Emma. He has apparently sought advice from Williams.

Tiger Woods sex texts to mistress exposed

Disgraced golfer Tiger Woods' alleged mistress Joslyn James has put 122 explicit text messages sent by him on her website. The messages from the golfer revealed how he wanted to take part in perverted sexual practices, reports dailystar.co.uk. Their three-year affair was stripped bare in graphic detail as James, 32, built her own website - sextingjoslynjames.com - to publish it. She launched the site Thursday but it crashed just minutes later after millions around the world logged on to read Tiger's sex texts. The front page of the site carries a warning about its explicit content as Woods' dirty texts are littered with swear words and sexual content.

'Love Sex Aur Dhokha' - unconventional genre that works

Film: 'Love Sex Aur Dhokha'; Cast: Anshuman Jha, Shruti, Raj Kumar Yadav, Neha Chauhan, Arya Devdutta, Herry Tangri, Amit Sial; Director: Dibakar Banerjee; Rating: *** The million dollar question making the rounds is - Does 'Love Sex Aur Dhokha' have a story?' The answer is yes. In fact, there are three stories, each of them being shown in episodic manner with 'Love', 'Sex' and 'Dhokha' being the plot drivers for the respective tales. Do they work? Yes, they do though it is apparent that there are ups and downs in the pace of these stories. While each of these stories starts with a bang and has a valid culmination, there is a slight dip that comes in occasionally and makes you pine for some faster movement. So there is a young couple who fall in love during the shooting of a diploma film, get married secretly and then face the wrath of their family. Since the film is set in a filmmaking school, the presence of a came

Lady Gaga's racy Oz show has parents asking for concert classification

Lady Gaga's Australian tour has left many parents chaperoning their kids to ask why the concert did not carry a classification to warn them of the racy routines the singer put on. Gaga's Australian tour kicked off this week, using elements of bulimia, binge drinking and expletives as props. In her Monster Ball show, Gaga takes the audience into a gothic Wizard Of Oz land, where a video of a model making herself vomit onto Gaga is shown on a film loop. "This is a place where you can be free. A place where all the freaks are outside and I locked the f---ing door," News.com.au quoted Gaga as having said during her show. Linda Fitzsimmons took her nine-year-old daughter Jessica to the debut show on March 17 and said that she was "shocked and surprised" by it. "I couldn't believe it. (Jessica) likes her songs and I'm OK with her listening to them. There's no swearing in them and she's too young to understand the hidden meaning

Damian is the only man in my life: Pamela

'Baywatch' star Pamela Anderson says Damian Whitewood is the only man in her life and that he gets her 'undivided attention'. 'The only man in my life right now is Damian. He has my undivided attention. I don't know if he likes that though. He has to live with it. He got stuck with me,' contactmusic.com quoted her as saying. Whitewood is Anderson's dance partner in the US television show 'Dancing with the Stars'. The mother-of-two feels fortunate to have been paired with Damian because he has taught her so many great moves. 'I just thought it would be fun. I wanted to learn how to dance, number one. I've never danced in my life. I've never taken a lesson, but always wanted to and the timing was good. I rehearse when the kids are at school and I'm going to see what happens. It's been a lot of fun. I have a great teacher,' she said.

Gandhi's words are Shakira's "personal motto"

Peace icon Mahatma Gandhi seems to be acclaimed recording artist Shakira's favorite. In the official statement by her on receiving medal of honor from International Labor Organization (ILO) for her work promoting social justice recently in Geneva (Switzerland), Shakira, 33, pointed out: Mahatma Gandhi said - "Be the change you want to see in the world". "It's not too late to keep our promise to our children, but we must act now. Together, we can make education and decent work for all a reality", Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll added. Her website says: She finished her acceptance speech by quoting some wise words from Gandhi which have become her personal motto: "Be the change that you want to see in the world." Gandhi was the only world leader quoted in singer-songwriter-musician-record producer-dancer-philanthropist Shakira's statement, who was born and raised in Colombia. Grammy award winner and Golden Globe nominated Shakira (L

'Kate feels she needs a support system, but she is torn because she doesn't want to disrupt her kids and is able to be very low-key in New York,' femalefirst.co.uk quoted a source as saying. 'Kate doesn't know what to do. The people she's close to in New York are mums in schools but she thinks that will all change. Her real friends - Emma Thompson, her sister Anna and her parents - are all over here.' Kate has a son Joe from Sam and a daughter, Mia, from her previous marriage to Jim Threapleton.

Baldwin's war of words with journo

Actor Alec Baldwin had a feud with a tabloid journalist who alleged he had fallen out with '30 Rock' co-star Tina Fey. Digitalspy.co.uk reports that the 51-year-old Baldwin was infuriated by a National Enquirer report by Mike Walker that said his relationship with Fey had become frosty. Baldwin rubbished the suggestion and made unflattering comments about Walker. The reporter has since responded in the latest issue of the tabloid: 'Here's my headline, 'Alec Baldwin - Raging Closet HOMOPHOBE!' Grab your pitchforks and torches, Hollywood - the monster lurks among ye! Just for the record, I am not gay, as my wife will attest.' Baldwin retaliated: '(Walker) is a goat-footed... old queen, and all my male lovers agree with me.'

Asin to star in James Cameron's next?

Image
While Oscar winning director James Cameron was in the country recently for a conclave very few were lucky enough to meet him. Superstar Aamir Khan and the 'thinker's actor' Abhay Deol -were lucky enough to bring in their birthdays with the director of blockbuster films TITANIC and AVATAR fame but the only lucky dame to have met him was the gorgeous Asin. Asin, who was present at the conclave to represent the industry's youth and speak on the subject of Reality v/s Idealism, is the only Indian actress to have met James Cameron and even spoke to him at length during the evening that followed. The "Oscar curse," real or Hollywood invention?

Image
They turn heads on the red carpet, are besieged by the world's top designers, give tearful acceptance speeches, and go home with a little gold man called Oscar. But shortly after many actresses win the movie industry's highest honor, their most important relationships fall apart in what has become known in Hollywood as the "Oscar curse." Sandra Bullock and Kate Winslet, the 2010 and 2009 best actress Oscar winners, this week joined Halle Berry (2002), Julia Roberts (2001), Reese Witherspoon (2006) and Hilary Swank (2005) on that list. Bullock's husband of five years, motorcycle enthusiast Jesse James, responded to allegations of cheating on Bullock with an apology on Thursday for the grief he had caused. The reasons behind the separation of Winslet from her film director husband Sam Mendes have so far remained private. 'Prince' will prevail despite IPL: Producer

Producer Kumar Taurani is pulling out all stops for his next film, the Vivek Oberoi -starrer 'Prince'. He is releasing it simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, not taking the IPL threat seriously. 'According to my report, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has not had the same craze this year as it had enjoyed in the last two seasons,' Taurani told IANS. 'The second thing is our film is coming in the middle of the series. What we calculated is that the IPL craze is at its peak in the first two weeks and during finals; so there will be a dull period in between when we will release our film. 'We started the promotional work much earlier. We showed the first promo during 'Ajab Prem...' so that we and the audience could connect with 'Prince' when it is released,' he said. 'I think we will cross 1,000-plus prints and we are releasing the film across the globe. We are going big time. Directed by Kookie V. Gula

Polanski lawyers appeal, demand sentencing in absence

Image
Lawyers for Roman Polanski filed an appeal on Thursday demanding the fugitive film director be sentenced in California for a decades-old sex crime even as he remains under house arrest in Switzerland. They said Polanski was entitled under California law to be sentenced without returning in person to Los Angeles on a charge of having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977. Polanski, 76, fled California in 1978 and was arrested in September 2009 in Switzerland. The Oscar-winning director of "The Pianist" is currently confined to his home in the ski resort of Gstaad fighting extradition to the United States. A Los Angeles judge in January rejected Polanski's request to be sentenced in absentia, and insisted he appear in court. Polanski's lawyers have been fighting to have the unlawful sex case dropped, alleging judicial misconduct in the original legal proceedings when the judge considered sentencing. But when their romance fizzled, Fusari was cut out of her record deal, failed to be paid royalties on subsequent music sales and was shortchanged on the producer fees he was due. "All business is personal. When those personal relationships evolve into romantic entanglements, any corresponding business relationship usually follows the same trajectory so that when one crashes they all burn. That is what happened here." the lawsuit said. Lady Gaga, a 23 year-old double Grammy-award winner, is considered

The two companies said Sony's Bravia lines of Internet TVs, high-definition Blu-ray players and Blu-ray home theatre kits would come preinstalled with a Lovefilm icon that will allow Lovefilm subscribers easy access to streamed video. Currently, Lovefilm subscribers can choose to receive physical DVDs in the post or to stream films from the Web and watch them on computers. It is possible to access Lovefilm via a Web browser on connected TVs, but few in Europe have so far bothered to do so. Providers of services that come preinstalled on devices will have an advantage over those that have to be found on the Web.
