Comic book Review Ek Tha Tiger

Image
Comic: Ek Tha Tiger - Mahasagar Ki Suraksha  (available in English as 'Saving the High Seas') I was mighty excited on laying my hands on the Yomic (yes, that's what comics coming from the house of Chopras are called) 'Ek Tha Tiger - Mahasagar Ki Suraksha'. After all, you don't really mind the child in you get all eager to check out what this graphic novel has to offer, what with the makers proclaiming that it is for everyone from the age group of 8 to 99. What further added to the excitement was the fact that the novel is a prelude to the film which would be released in a few days from now. What better way to get to know Tiger a little more up, close and personal even before seeing him on the big screen. In that perspective, the writers do well in presenting 'Ek Tha Tiger - Mahasagar Ki Suraksha' as a novel, which pretty much establishes Tiger. In fact as one flips through 4-5 pages itself, it is clear that there is more of Salman in Tiger than Tig

Rajkumar Yadavs full monty act in Shahid

Image
Post Neil Nitin Mukesh and John Abraham going full monty in  Jail  and  New York  respectively, we hear that Rajkumar Yadav who made his mark with  Ragini MMS , will be doing the same in his next film  Shahid . Directed by Hansal Mehta,  Shahid  is based on the fascinating true story of slain human rights activist and lawyer Shahid Azmi. Accused of terrorist links, Shahid was imprisoned under a draconian law before he went on to become a fearless lawyer who became a powerful voice against the inter-communal violence that has engulfed Mumbai since the early 1990s. It’s a very intense scene, where he is detained by the police and stripped naked as part of interrogation. Says Hansal, "The nakedness of the character is symbolic of the violation of human rights and stripping of equality in our society. The scene in question is very intense, where the protagonist is detained by the police and stripped naked as part of an interrogation. It was emotionally draining for Rajkumar. My

Ive entered Bollywood domain I am ready for everything now - Ayushmann

When  Vicky Donor  posters were put up across the city of Mumbai, audiences showed little interest in it. But little did Ayushmann know that one night was about to change his career and life forever. I mean, it requires some convincing for people to queue up to watch the story of a sperm donor.  Vicky Donor's  success story is very much similar to that of the Hollywood sleeper hit  The Hangover . The actor is an overnight sensation and the who's who of Bollywood wants him. The first ones to pick him were his  Vicky Donor  director Shoojit Sirkar for  Hamara Bajaj  and Rohan Sippy for  Nautanki Saala . The move from theatre to television to the tinsel town is notoriously tricky and Khurana knows it better. Oozing self-confidence that borders on cockiness, Ayushmann tells me that he doesn't take time easing into a role. People found me funny because they felt my character and lived it for the two hours. Acting is his therapy and for the moment he loves doing that. Oh, and he

Prabhu - Sonkashi in true Janmashthami spirit

Image
Recently, India's most accomplished male dancer Prabhu Dheva shot a Janmashthami dahi-handi song for Akshay Kumar's Oh My God. Accompanying the magical dancer was Sonakshi Sinha who's rapidly emerging as one of the better female dancers in the industry. Says Prabhu, "Sonakshi dances really well. She has great timing and wonderful grace. The last time I enjoyed keeping pace with someone so much was Madhuri Dixit when we did the ‘Que Sera Sera’ number in Pukar." Prabhu says he wanted to make this Janmashthami song very different from the ones that have been seen on screen so far. "We just wanted to do a fun song. In our own way," says Prabhu who broke his own self imposed rule for this very special song dedicated to Lord Krishna. No item songs, unless it's for the Gods.

Movie Review: Gangs Of Wasseypur 2

Image
If you try to count the numbers of bullets that are fired at unsuspecting victims in the ferociously violent world inhabited by Anurag Kashyap's trigger-happy goons, you might end up cross-eyed. Caught in the crossfire of vendetta and redemption the characters of  Gangs Wasseypur 2  are so on-the-edge they don't fear the abyss that awaits them at the end of their vengeful voyage. In any case no one in Kashyap's God-forsaken kingdom takes cops seriously, not even the cops themselves. There's a typically wry Kashyap joke just before interval when the raging protagonist Faizal (or 'Faijal', as everyone including his sexy wife calls him) carries his kid-brother's corpse home. Cops stop Faizal and politely ask him to accompany them to the police station.  "Don't you see I'm taking my brother home?' Faizal bellows.  "We understand," squeaks a khaki-clad gentleman. "Why don't you hand over the body to us and come with us?"

Preitys zinta surprise visit to Salman Khan

Image
Salman Khan had a surprise guest at Yash Raj Studios where he was doing interviews for his upcoming film,  Ek Tha Tiger , yesterday. It was none other than his co-star, Preity Zinta who is making a comeback with  Ishkq In Paris . When asked about the purpose of her visit, Preity reveals, "I came here to show my film's trailer to Salman and take his feedback. I have always valued his opinion." Preity who has also turned producer with this film informs that she was there because the film's trailer is being cut at YRF studios. When she found out that Salman is also at the studio she dropped by to meet him.  So what was Salman's feedback? Preity who waited for almost an hour informs, "Salman seems to be very busy tonight. I haven't been able to show him the trailer. I am planning to go to his place tomorrow as his feedback is very important for me." Palpably nervous, she adds, â€Å“I hope he likes it. I don't know what he is going to say?† Is she enj

Katrina Sonakshi or newcomer for Happy New Year

Image
It is confirmed. Farah Khan has zeroed in two leading ladies for her final choice of a girl opposite Shah Rukh Khan and the toss up is now between Katrina Kaif and Sonakshi Sinha. However, if things do not work out with either of the two, Farah is going full steam ahead in launching a newcomer instead. "Yes, Sonakshi is a hot contender and the talks are definitely on with her. Meanwhile Katrina is on the top of the list since Shah Rukh is mighty happy with her after working together in Yash Chopra's yet untitled film. He isn't averse to Sonakshi though as this would be a new 'jodi' as well. He and Farah are currently brainstorming to pick one of the two and once she is through with the release of  Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi , there would be an announcement soon", informs our well placed source.  In fact the declaration may come even earlier if either Katrina or Sonakshi make the cut.  "Other girls like Anushka Sharma or Parineeti Chopra were never un

Kashmera Shah lashes out at Pakistan

Image
Neha Dhupia once said that, "Only Sex and SRK sells". While all have left the latter to himself, none of the actresses seem to be leaving the 'former'. They all know for a fact that sex sells and how. And in addition to the forbidden 'S' word, one has to sprinkle some hot juicy interview bytes which makes for a good copy (read' sell'). The seductress Kashmera Shah, who always knows how to make news, has recently gone on record in the latest edition of Stardust magazine that if she had her way then Hrithik Roshan is 'that' actor from Bollywood whom she would seduce as she finds him HOT. On second thoughts, she 'spares' him since he is married. And hence she says she wouldn't mind Shahid Kapoor instead as he is an amazing dancer.  And when asked about her take on one night stands, she unabashedly says that she gets majorly turned on by one night stands. At the same time she also 'advices' others to be careful due to health iss

Check out Ash shoots for jewellery brand

Image
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan over the last two weeks has been shooting for a print and TV campaign for a leading South jewellery brand across various locations in Mumbai. This shoot comes almost a year after the last commercial she shot when she was six months pregnant. It was also a nostalgic moment when she shot with ace cameraman Kiran Deohans for the TV commercial, incidentally when she came back to shoot after her engagement and her marriage, it was Kiran who shot her and now again after the birth of her daughter Aaradhya. Commenting on this Kiran Deohans said, â€Å“I have got the pleasure of working with Aishwarya on  Jodhaa Akbar . Coming back from her post delivery months and shooting for this commercial, she’s still the same. Even after becoming a mother, she’s a true professional and has the same passion when it comes to her work. I have seen her working here then and now. She is bang on since  Jodhaa Akbar  days.†Shrikumar, who shot the commercial said, "This is the f

Raaz 3 gets murkier veteran heroine emerges as inspiration for Bipasha

Image
Last couple of days have seen Ameesha Patel's name being dragged into the promotional campaign of  Raaz 3 . While it has been made to believe that the film is based on her real life story with Vikram Bhatt, it has been hinted that Bipasha Basu is actually reprising the role of another has-been heroine who faded away in the early 80s. If sources are to be believed, case files have indicated that this ex-actress was rumoured to be indulging in black magic. Since 'jaadu tona' also happens to be the theme of  Raaz 3  with Bipasha enacting the role of a fading superstar, one has all the right reasons to be suspicious. "Yes, this indeed is the case", informs our source, "There were number of stories that writer Shagufta Rafique was contemplating for the  Raaz  franchise. However during her research, she came across this literature that detailed the case of a heroine who was said to be indulging in black magic. She was immediately intrigued and started digging down

Bollywood Hungama gives you an exclusive sneak peak at Aamir's latest picture from the sets of  Dhoom 3  which features him riding a black BMW K1300R bike.
