Pooja of ‘Malarvady Arts Club’

Young singer turned actor Vineeth Sreenivasan's debut movie as a director ‘Malarvady Arts Club’, had its pooja yesterday at BTH Sarovaram. The pooja which was attended by Vineeth's father and versatile actor Sreenivaasan, also had the presence of big names from the industry including Megastar Mammootty. The movie which features five fresh faces along with Jagathy, Nedumudi, Innocent, Salim Kumar and Suraj Venjaramoodu, is set in a village called Manassery. Following the likes of recent Tamil hits featuring fresh faces, this movie also tells about the hilarious attempts of five rustic friends to run their local club named “Malarvady Arts Club”. Actor Dileep produces and appears in a cameo in this movie which is presented under of Grand productions.

Sameera Reddy in 'Oru Naal Varum'

After a long gap Mohanlal and Sreenivasan are once again coming together for the new movie ‘Oru Naal Varum’. Directed by T K Rajeev Kumar, the shoot for the movie is already on at the capital city. Mohanlal plays a character named Kulapuly Sukumaran in this movie scripted by Sreenivasan. It is after a gap of five years that Mohanlal is appearing in a Sreenivasan script, the last being ‘Udhayannau Thaaram’. Bollywood actress Sameera Reddy will debut in Malayalam with this movie which also features Devayani, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Siddhique, Lalu Alex in other important roles.

Ulakam Chuttum Vaaliban

After the stupendous success of ‘Happy Husbands’, young director Saji Surendran will team up with scriptwriter Krishna Poojappura for the new movie ‘Ulakaam Chuttum Vaaliban’. The movie expected to be launched in March however will start its shoot only by the end of this year. Krishna Poojappura is presently busy scripting 'Sakudumbam Shyamala' featuring Kunchakko Boban and Urvashi in the lead. The movie will be directed by debutante Radhakrishnan Mangalath, who shot to fame with the tele serial ‘Indumathi Chandramathi’

Prithvi is ‘Mumbai Dosth'

Youth icon Prithviraj has become extremely cautious in selecting films in recent times. He has proved himself to make good selections of role from the innumerable projects that are hovering around him. Anyhow, the debutant director Fazal has attained success in reading out a thread for a new movie, which was quite appealing to the star who immediately agreed to be with the movie. Titled as ‘Mumbai Dosth’ this movie will be scripted by directors of slapstick comedies Ravi and Micatin. Fazal had been an associate to the director duo who agreed to offer themselves as the scriptwriters to their associate’s debut venture. ‘Mumbai Dosth’ will be produced by Howly Pottur in the banner of “Dream Team Productions”. To be shot in Tamil Nadu and, Mumbai and parts of Kerala, this movie will kick off in a couple of months.

Euphoria music in ‘Best Of Luck’

The music of the big band of north ‘Euphoria’ will be heard in Mollywood industry soon. Director MA Nishad has signed the band and its lead singer Dr.Palash Sen, to do the music for his new movie ‘Best Of Luck’. The band was astonished to see one of the front line directors approaching them for music, when they arrived at Calicut recently to performing in the Malabar festival. The pooja of the movie was held at Hotel Renaissance, Kochy last week in a big function attended by its lead stars, Pashupathy and director IV Sasi. Featuring a big cast including Prabhu, Urvashi, Reema Kallingal, Asif Ali, Archana Kavi, Kailash, Jagathy, and Bijukuttan, the movie will be based on a humorous storyline by the director Nishad. Vinu Kiriyath will support the movie with his dialogues. To be produced by A and M productions, the movie will be cinematographed by Sanjeev Shankar.

Thilakan out of Dam 999

Veteran actor Thilakan, who was recently suspended from AMMA has then pointed out that he was not able to attend AMMA's disciplinary committee meeting, as he has to attend the shoot for a Hollywood movie named ‘Dam 999’. But now the director of the movie Sohan Roy has made it clear that the actor will not be the part of his movie any more, as FEFKA, the technicians associations has insisted to call back their members in the technical crew if he starts shooting with Thilakan. The director also stated that they are in the lookout for an able substitute actor for the character Thilakan was to play in the movie. Meanwhile, renowned director Shaji N Karun has stated that if his new movie has a character that demands the finesse of an actor like Thilakan and he will definitely sign him, no matter whoever oppose it. Lal to endorse Khadi

In an interesting development, Mollywood superstar Mohanlal has decided to endorse Khadi products. Accepting a plea from the State industries minister Elamaram Kareem, Mohanlal has agreed to become the brand ambassador of Khadi and Handloom clothes in the state. The actor seems to be in the notion that this act will help to tide over image destruction if any, brought out by his recent tussle with Sukumar Azhikode, who also ridiculed his immense interest in endorsing commodities. This sudden transformation to a Gandhian to endorse Khadi may sometimes invite criticisms, as the star is known for his endorsements jewels, textiles and even an immensely popular surrogate liquor brands with the tagline ‘Vaikittentha Paripady’? ‘Veera Parampare’ starts!

The director S Narayan and actor Sudeep combination ‘Veera Parampare’ went on the floors early in the morning on 5th March 2010 at the residence of director cum producer S Narayan. Sudeep’s mother switched on the camera for the opening shot while director S Narayan’s daughter Kumari Vidyasri sounded the clap board after a simple Pooja for the film. Ambarish plays a prominent role in the film ‘Veera Parampare’ that is also a come back film for cameraman of high reputation R Giri who is the brother in law of S Narayan. This film will be completed in three months time. Director S Narayan known for disciplined working style has raised expectations casting Sudeep in a very good role. ARR ‘Jai Ho’ World Tour starts June 11

A R Rahman will be embarking on a ‘Jai Ho’ concert worldwide tour from June this year. The "A R Rahman Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home World Tour" kicks off on June 11 at the Nassau Coliseum in New York and will extent to over 16 major cities worldwide. For this world tour A R Rahman will be collaborating with choreographer-director Amy Tinkham, who has created stage shows for the likes of Paul McCartney, Madonna, Britney Spears, Dixie Chicks, Motley Crue, etc. The concerts are said to include spectacular special effects and global cast of dancers and musicians inspired by his native India. It is termed as a “virtual journey through beauty, culture, and spirituality”. The concerts will include songs from 'Slumdog Millionaire' as well as the Indian films 'Lagaan', 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na', 'Dil Se', 'Rang De Basanti', 'Roja' and others. Thara is triple happy

The national award winning actress Thara is happy for three reasons on Thursday. Firstly it was her birthday, second it is on this day her parents got married and thirdly it is the silver jubilee of her professional career starting from ‘Thulasidala’ in 1985. Thara celebrated her birthday with the poor children and women at Mouna Guru Ashram in Cox Town, Bangalore. She cut a hug cake and offered food for nearly 300 persons in the ashram. An active BJP politician who missed the MLC post narrowly, Thara took part in the Surakshatha Din on Thursday morning. On the silver Jubilee year of her professional career she disclosed her intentions of producing a Kannada film in this year. This is her silver jubilee resolution. ‘Yaksha’ – A Family Affair

The Kannada film ‘Yaksha’ features all the family members of producer TP Siddaraju (of Dhuniya fame) in the cast. TP Siddaraju is appearing for the first time as a politician, his first son Yogish is the hero of it, second son Mahesh who is looking after the Akshay audio, is in an important role while producer Siddaraju mother Ambuja is also appearing as character artistes in the film. ‘Yaksha’ is the film in which Nana Patekar appears for the first time in Kannada in the role of a cop. Disastrous Debut for Teena

Teena Ponnappa the tall and beautiful heroine hailing from Coorg district despite a good performance in her debut Kannada film ‘Belli Modadha Ambara’ is depressed at the disastrous results the film got in the box office.
