Marvel, ABC prep TV return for "Incredible Hulk"

Who's ready for another Hulk TV series? As DC Comics heroine Wonder Woman, who had a TV series during the 1970s, is being prepped for a return to the small screen, Marvel and ABC are developing a TV return for the Incredible Hulk. CBS produced a memorable series featuring the jade giant that ran from 1978-82 and starred Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno. At the end of the decade, ABC followed up with three TV movies that featured incarnations of Marvel heroes Daredevil and Thor. "Hulk" is one of two projects that are priorities at Marvel Television, Marvel Studio's TV division, which has been operating under the radar since Jeph Loeb took the reins at the end of June. The second hot property is "Cloak and Dagger," which is being developed as a possible show for ABC Family. Both are in the early stages of development; "Hulk" has a "showrunner wanted" placard around its neck; meanwhile, Loeb is meeting with writers to hear ideas for "Cloak

Chile Miners Keep the Shades On

The Chilean miners have been free for several days now, and are, we presume, getting used to life on the surface. One thing they apparently haven't gotten 100% used to is the sunlight. The miners are still wearing sunglasses, and many online searchers are wondering why. Photos:   The dramatic rescue effort Oakley donated pairs  of their fancy shades to the miners in an effort to help ease the rescued heroes back into life above ground. The concern is very real. According to Dr. Andrew Hartwick, assistant professor at the College of Optometry at Ohio State University, after a history-making 69 days underground, the miners face a risk for possible light damage to the retina. An AP article   in which he's quoted explains that "there is potential for solar retinopathy, in which the photoreceptors -- the cells within the eye that capture light -- can deteriorate."  In the article, Dr. Hartwick goes on to explain that there is also a "comfort factor" to the miner

CWG over, CAG resumes probe into corruption charges

A day after the Commonwealth Games got over, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has resumed its assessment of various projects related to the mega sporting event which were mired in allegations of corruption. The CAG today sent its inspection officials to the CPWD office located inside S P Mukherjee Stadium to check the accounts related to the Games projects. The audit work for CWG is related to work payments, contracts and leasing of sports equipment among others. "We have started with the CPWD office inside the S P Mukherjee Stadium today. Now that the atheletes have vacated the venues, we will gradually start sending our inspection officers to all the stadia," an official with the auditing watchdog said. The CAG had begun assessing the Games' expenditure in August, but had to stop the audit related works in the last week of September as they could not access the premises of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). The official said the CAG had to su

'Cry baby' Sakshi Pradhan out of 'Bigg Boss 4'

Sakshi Pradhan's cranky nature didn't go down too well with either the inmates of 'Bigg Boss 4' or the Indian TV audiences. She has been evicted within just two weeks of being on the show. The former MTV 'Splitsvilla' contestant was nominated by last week's captain of the house, Pakistani TV actor Ali Saleem, whose TV persona Begum Nawazish Ali is popular both in Pakistan and India. Others who were nominated for eviction with Sakshi were Sameer Soni and former dacoit Seema Parihar, but she received minimum votes to save her from eviction. Sakshi was extremely friendly with the girls in the house, especially with Pakistani actress Veena Malik, but had her share of tiffs and ego hassles with male contestants. However, she did not willingly do the house chores. Sakshi shed tears before leaving the house on the episode aired Friday. Sakshi entered the house with 13 other celebrities. The show, hosted by Bollywood star Salman Khan, requires contestants

Mukesh Ambani's home world's most expensive

Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani's new 27-storey Mumbai skyscraper likely sets a record as the world's most expensive residential home, according to Forbes magazine. 'India's richest man, and the fourth-richest man in the world, has eschewed understatement,' the magazine said reporting Ambani's plans to move into the 570-foot building, called Antila, this month. Noting that the home is worth 630 million pounds, or $1 billion, as reported by the Telegraph, Forbes said in its last ranking of world's most expensive homes in November 2009, The Manor, Candy Spelling's Beverly Hills mansion, won out at a price tag of $150 million. New mansions may have come on the market since, 'but even given those facts, at $1 billion the Antila outprices any home on the market, anywhere in the world, by an order of magnitude,' it said. 'Given the enormous gap between the Antila's sale price and the known closing cost of any home sold in recent year

Chilean Miners Spark Searches on Other Rescues

The Chilean miners have inspired the world. They've also inspired massive Web interest on other miraculous, against-all-odds rescues from times past. While the 33 miners were being hoisted to the surface earlier this week, Web searches were not only soaring on the brave men and their families, but also on  Jessica McClure , better known as " Baby Jessica ." Jessica McClure was just 18 months old when she fell down a well in 1987. The ensuing race to save her was  national news  for days as volunteers worked around the clock. Finally, rescuers reached her and brought Jessica to the surface, to a mixture of applause and tears. All told, she fared surprisingly well. Recent Web searches on both "baby jessica" and "jessica mcclure" soared into the thousands. There was also significant interest on her husband,  Daniel Morales , and the cou
