Dhoni rested for West Indies ODIs; Sehwag to lead

Virender Sehwag is set to lead India in an ODI for the first time since December 2009, after the selectors decided to give MS Dhoni a break for the five-match series against West Indies. Sachin Tendulkar was also rested for the first three one-dayers, while Yuvraj Singh informed the selectors that he was not fully fit, which means neither has played an ODI for India since their starring roles in the World Cup win. Offspinner Harbhajan Singh, who was dropped for the home ODI series against England and the ongoing Tests against West Indies, remains out of contention too. Since taking over as full-time captain, Dhoni has been reluctant to miss one-day games despite his heavy workload as full-time wicketkeeper and captain of India and his IPL franchise, the Chennai Super Kings. Taylor, Hamilton-Brown to play in New Zealand T20

Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor and Surrey captainRory Hamilton-Brown will both play in this year's HRV Cup for Wellington. The former Sri Lankan spinnerMuttiah Muralitharan is also one of Wellington's overseas players. Taylor is available for the whole tournament which begins on December 18 against Auckland. Muralitharan will play in the first five rounds, having initially signed for the duration of the tournament, and Hamilton-Brown from the sixth round onwards. Wellington director of cricket Robbie Kerr was delighted with the quality that they have been able to attract. "Murali's record over a number of years speaks for itself," he said. "He is the greatest Test and ODI wicket taker of all time and to have him in the Firebirds this summer is very exciting."
