Chase marred by another controversy

Image
Chase has released and if the ongoing tussle between director Jagmohan Mundhra and producer Anuuj Saxena wasn't enough, there is more addition to the drama. One of the lyricists in the film, Prashant Vasl, is miffed with the makers since his name has gone missing from the credit details on the music album. Worse, his name has been replaced by a much established Jalees Sherwani, something which continues to puzzle the lyricist who has been knocking the doors of Bollywood for some time now. "I have written the much talked about song ' Raat Ki Sanson Mein Uljhi Hai Koi Baat ', a song of seduction picturised on Udita Goswami. However, to my shock, the crediting has gone to Jaless Sherwani. The song is a turning point in a film but on the contrary it has turned out to be a sad point for me", says Vasl. The song plays in the film when Udita comes up with a sensual song and dance performance to confirm if the character played by Anuuj Saxena is indeed

Dum Maro Dum to again crack into non-diaspora global market

Image
After Shah Rukh Khan in My Name Is Khan , it is Abhishek Bachchan's turn to be marketed on a global platform by Fox Star. The company plans to unleash the Abhishek starrer Dum Maro Dum on the same level globally as Khan . Goa, Bachchan and Bipasha Basu are the heady mix that Fox are counting on to entice an international audience. In the meanwhile, Fox Star and their global equivalent Fox Searchlight are hoping to see My Name Is Khan (MNIK) do a Slumdog Millionaire in the US, thereby paving the way for the second Bollywood release Dum Maro Dum from Fox. Fox's CEO Vijay Singh is super-optimistic. "We're only releasing MNIK in 2 New York theatres on May 5, But please remember, Slumdog Millionaire was initially released in only 5 theatres in New York. We hope to add more theatres to Khan after the first week." The film then goes to France in May, Germany in June, Spain in July, Russia in August and Italy in September. All the centres barring G

Second time lucky TEES MAAR KHAN

Image
Now this is more than a coincidence! There's something about 30th April and the Khan siblings, Farah and Sajid, will vouch for it. Farah's directorial debut MAIN HOON NA was released exactly six years ago, on 30th April and now, Sajid's HOUSEFULL opened to packed houses, also on 30th April. Like Christmas has proved lucky for Aamir Khan time and again and at a point of time, Diwali was considered lucky for Yash Raj, seems like 30th April holds significance in Farah and Sajid's life. Expectedly, Farah seems to be in a celebratory mood. "I am happy for Sajid. I genuinely think that he has evolved as a director with his new film. Now pray that my film [ TEES MAAR KHAN ] opens equally big this Christmas," Farah smiles.

Mahesh Manjrekar is exploring newer territories. Literally! The talented director, who has so far made films in Hindi and Marathi languages, has now decided to make his first film in Bengali. The film will be a remake of Manjrekar's blockbuster Marathi hit ME SHIVAJIRAJE BHOSALE BOLTOY and will star Mithun Chakraborty in the role that Sachin Khedekar had essayed in the Marathi smash hit. "He [Manjrekar] has a 3-film deal with Dar Pictures and the Bengali film will be made by Dar," Arun Rangachari, Chairman of Dar Group, confirms the news. But does Manjrekar know Bengali, to do justice to the Bengali version? "Oh yes, he understands Bengali well. Besides, we have Mithun-da to guide us," Rangachari states. Manjrekar had essayed the pivotal role in the Marathi version himself, but who will enact his role in the Bengali version? "Let that be a suspense," Rangachari smiles.

Randhir and Aditya Raj Kapoor star in Rahul Dholakia's Society

Image
The offspring of the legendary Kapoor family are soon to be seen in a film that is titled Society quite befittingly. This Rahul Dholakia film will have Randhir Kapoor and Aditya Raj Kapoor, grandchildren of Prithviraj Kapoor, doing a small cameo. This will be the first time that these two Kapoors will be seen together in the same frame. Even Dimple Kapadia will be seen in the film doing a special appearance. Talking about the scene that was shot recently, Aditya Raj Kapoor says, "I am playing an art collector who has thrown a party to showcase my art and Dimple and Randhir, who play a couple in the film, too are invited. But they think of playing a prank on me and try to sell me a book of Kamasutra. They are trying to fool me. It was extremely fun shoot and we enjoyed a lot doing it." Well this sure must be a fun film to watch.

John Abraham to endorse Van Heusen?

Image
The very name of John Abraham is someone, with whom we can always associate 'style', 'elan' and 'poise'. It is the same John Abraham with whom the brands can be associated by a ton. A few names that can be rattled include the likes of Pepsi, Garnier, Yamaha etc. We are sure that the following news will surely take everyone by surprise. ApnaDesi 's ever-so-reliable sources told us that this hunk is now all set to endorse the clothing brand Van Heusen VDot. The source also added that the ad will be most likely shot either in the second or third week of May. While repeated attempts to establish contacts with the John remained futile, we have to confess that we simply can't wait to see John, the hunk in action with this brand!

Its crisper sharper cut and we hope to create a new market for Bollywood films," says Karan. Karan Johar who left for New York for three weeks on Tuesday night has discovered a new side to his personality that he never knew existed. Hosting the show Lift Kara De which ended last week, he discovered how little people from privileged classes gave to the needy. Says Karan, "I don't know how successful the show was. But it put me in touch with the real world. The show was about philanthropy and I understood the joy there is in giving. To meet all those needy individuals who came on the show connected me to a reality that most of us in the entertainment industry are cut off from the outside world." Karan was also bowled over by the amazing connectivity between the audience and th

Laawaris track 'Apni Toh Jaise Taise' won't be deleted from Housefull for now

Image
It looks like the controversial re-mix of the Laawaaris track ' Apni Toh Jaise Taise ' in this weekend's big hit Housefull won't have to be deleted from the film, at least for now. Acting swiftly on the honourable High Court's decision in Kolkata restraining the use of the chartbusting Lawaaris song, the music company Saregama which sold the song's rights to producer Sajid Nadaidwala got an amendment against the High Court's decision in Kolkata. Divulging these facts, Apurv Nagpal Managing Director of HMV-Saregama says, "The restraint order has been amended, pending our appeal which would be heard on Monday. The film ( Housefull )'s prints have already been sent to all centres on Friday." Housefull director Sajid Khan appears blissfully unaware of the copyright battle raging against a song in his film. Says Sajid Khan, "I am the film's director. I liked the song and I used it in Housefull after I thought all the legal

What made Housefull Hilarious?

Image
With a recollaboration of Hey Babyy team, the recently released multi-starrer flick Housefull is all set to entertain the audiences this summer. While the film is getting rave reviews for its hilarious script, the stars' performances and the lively jokes, what makes the film more than just staple Bollywood masala is the extraordinary visual effects (VFX) and DI executed by Mumbai-based Visual entertainment services Company, Prime Focus. Talking about the vfx of the movie, Merzin Tavaria, Chief Creative Director at Prime Focus said, "Housefull is one of the most challenging films in terms of creatives and deliveries. The most important sequences being the Tiger sequence and the Monkey sequence. We had a couple of scenes which involved the lead actors interacting with a Tiger which was quite difficult to shoot in reality,That's one of the scenes where we have used VFX but the beauty of the shot is that it's so seamless that you can't make out the

Instead, it will be a fictitious story set in some particular period of the pre-independence era. Rest of the details, as expected, are being kept under the wraps, thus setting the minds of the viewers to work overtime imagining the poster boy Farhan Akhtar in a period film!

Celina's toothache blues on twitter

Image
There are some real strange things that technology does to mankind! While it almost did away with the age old inland letters by having them replaced with E-Mail! Now, with the advent of 'everyone's 140-charactered personal space' (popularly known as 'Twitter'), it seems that writing a personal diary seems to look like a thing of the dinosaur era! We saw some interesting activity on Celina Jaitly's page recently, who, apparently was suffering from a toothache. She tweeted the entire process of what one goes through the process of a root canal! Tweets Celina, "Root canal update: hurts like hell time for 1more pain killer i dnt know how in the blue blazes am I going to fly tomorrow night to Canada.
