Bollywood stars congratulate Dhoni

Image
Indian cricket captain MSDhoni's marriage with childhood friend Sakshi Singh Rawat tonight in Dehradun has set the tinsel town abuzz. Many Bollywood celebrities wished the couple all the best for their marital life. From Bollywood actresses like Bipasha Basu and Shilpa Shetty to legendary playback singer Asha Bhonsle, all came together on Twitter to bless the 28-year-old Dhoni and 23-year-old Sakshi with health, happiness and prosperity. "Congratulations in order to Mahi and Sakshi, wishing them all the happiness and marital bliss forever..," Shilpa wrote on her twitter account. "Wishing Mahi and Sakshi a very happy life together forever. Sad that I can't be there," wrote Bipasha, who had also acted with Dhoni in a TV commercial for the footwear company Reebok.

Cristiano Ronaldo becomes a father

Image
Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has announced that he has become a father of a newborn child. On his official Twitter account and Facebook page, the 25-year-old stated that the child will be under his "exclusive guardianship", even though Ronaldo did not reveal the identity of the mother. The full statement on his official Facebook page reads: "It is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become father to a baby boy. As agreed with the baby's mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship. "No further information will be provided on this subject and I request everyone to fully respect my right to privacy (and that of the child) at least on issues as personal as these are." The shock announcement came at back of Ronaldo's disappointing 2010 FIFA World Cup campaign with Portugal after they were knocked out in the second round by Spain.

Miroslav Klose: I just want to win!

Image
Germany striker Miroslav Klose is more interested in winning the FIFA World Cup™ than smashing Ronaldo's goal record. Klose's second-half brace helped complete a staggering 4-0 quarter-final win over Argentina in Cape Town today. It also allowed the 32-year-old to muscle into contention for the Golden Goal by taking him onto four, and sees him join legendary Germany striker Gerd Muller on 14 in World Cup tournaments. With two matches to play, including either the final or third-place play-off, Klose needs just a single goal to match Ronaldo, who took his tally to 15 when Brazil defeated Ghana four years ago.

Paraguay vs Spain Player Ratings

Image
It's time to pass judgement on the players who featured in the last quarter-final between Paraguay and Spain. Paraguay Justo Villar - 6.5 Saved Xabi Alonso's penalty and was good in the air - an area in which he has previously been susceptible. Dario Veron - 5.5 Pacy on the right and had a good cross in him.   Tested Capdevila with his darting runs. Paulo da Silva - 4 Had trouble against David Villa who managed to cut inside from the left time and again. His job got tougher when Villa moved into the centre. Could not cope with the clever striker. Antolin Alcaraz - 6 Controlled Torres very well indeed. Did not give the Liverpool star any space and was very effective in the air as well. Unfortunate to give away the penalty.

QF: Paraguay 0-1 Spain

Image
David Villa enhanced his reputation as the tournament's best striker with a winner to give Spain a victory over Paraguay. The 28-year-old struck his fifth goal of the finals to send the perennial underachievers to their first-ever World Cup semi-finals. It was tough on Paraguay who had matched the European champions for much of the game - and though this has been a World Cup of shocks, the needle would have gone off the Richter scale if the South Americans had triumphed. Spain now face Germany in the semi-finals - not since 1950, where they were part of a four-team final group, have they had such an opportunity to reach the final itself.

Only one game ban for Suarez

Image
Luis Suarez will only be banned for one match for his handball against Ghana. This means the striker will be eligible for the World Cup final if Uruguay beat Holland. FIFA confirmed that their disciplinary committee had looked at the case and decided against imposing any further punishment beyond the minimum one-match ban. Suarez was given a straight red card for saving a goalbound header on the line in extra-time, Ghana missed the resulting penalty and Uruguay went through to the semi-final after winning a shoot-out. And he claimed "the 'Hand Of God' now belongs to me". The Ajax striker's post-match comments evoked memories of Diego Maradona's infamous goal for Argentina against England in the 1986 finals. Suarez said: "The 'Hand of God' now belongs to me. Mine is the real 'Hand Of God'. "I made the best save of the tournament. Sometimes in training, I play as a goalkeeper so it was worth it.

Maradona: Awful to see Messi cry!

Image
Diego Maradona had kind words for Lionel Messi after it was revealed the striker broke down in the dressing room. Messi's Argentina went out of the World Cup following a 4-0 thrashing by Germany. When asked about Messi's goalless tournament, Maradona said: "Messi never scored? When he tried they saved it. He played a great World Cup anyway. Seeing Messi cry in the dressing room is awful," he said. "Those who say he doesn't play for the shirt are stupid." Commenting on his future, The One said: "I may leave tomorrow" before stating that "whoever comes after me" will continue to implement an attacking style for the national side.

Argentina vs Germany Player Ratings

Image
Liow Yi Yang rates the players in Germany's 4-0 demolishment of Diego Maradona's Argentina. Argentina Sergio Romero - 5  Could do little with any of the German goals. Left for dead by his sub-par defence. Nicolás Burdisso - 4 Tried to rouse his defence which was shambolic at times. Poor marking from him gifted Klose his goals. Martín Demichelis - 4 Just how did Schweinsteiger dance through the entire Argentine backline for the third goal? Demichelis and co. showed a lack of competitiveness and urgency despite being on the back foot.

Suarez: I'm tempted by Man Utd

Image
Uruguay World Cup star Luis Suarez admits he could be tempted to leave Ajax if Manchester United come calling. The 23-year-old striker, who was sent off in the last minute of Uruguay's quarter-final encounter against Ghana for handball on the goalline, scored an impressive 49 goals in 48 games for the Dutch club last season. But despite being happy at Ajax, Suarez says an offer from a high-profile club such as United could sway him towards a move. "Manchester United and Barcelona are the elite clubs in Europe," Suarez told the Daily Star Sunday . "If they call, you listen. I would only leave Ajax for a team in that category."

Maradona in post-match altercation with German fans

Image
Immediately after Argentina's 4-0 quarterfinal loss to Germany on Saturday, Maradona was understandably upset. And according to Argentina's Diarios y Noticias, he let a group of German fans know it. A translation of their report: Argentina national team coach Diego Maradona had an altercation with German fans after the end of the match that marked the elimination of said team from the 2010 South Africa World Cup. Apparently upset over post game celebrations by fans located behind the Argentinean bench, Maradona approached and scolded them, until Dalma, one of his daughters, entered the field and contained him. It's a shame the man who has entertained us all over the last few weeks with his exuberance and delightful antics had to get involved in something like this. He would go on to say that this loss was "the most disappointing moment in my life" which shows just how devastated he must have been as he walked off the pitch and saw German fans in red and yellow w

iWork for iPhone tipped in new leak on Apple site

Image
Remember back early in the month when the iPhone 4 was unveiled and one of the slides in the keynote showed an option to send something to iWork? That slide was quickly replaced by a different one, but not before it made its rounds and got folks excited about iWork on the iPhone. A new and similar leak has now turned up that has come from some of the international versions of the Apple Store. The specific sites cited with the tip by MacRumors include the Canadian, UK, and Australian Apple Stores. The tip surfaced when folks were ordering unlocked iPhones and the link for “learn more” on the AppleCare offerings is clicked. One of the topics covered in the care plan was “Using iWork for iPhone and other Apple branded iPhone apps.” I bet this page is replaced with another really soon.

You will want to do something to keep your shiny new gadget looking good and safe. The fact of the matter is that you will need a case and probably scratch resistant films as well as a case. JayBird unveils new SB2 Sportsband Bluetooth Headphones

Image
Back in February we got our hands on the JayBird SB1 Bluetooth headphones and found that they were decent enough, if not the best for call and audio quality. JayBird has announced a new set of headphones called theSB2 that promise CD quality audio. The new headset is offered in a number of colors to suit the style of men and women. The headphones look retro with the same solid band design we have seen before. The bass promises to be deep with the headphones and the maker promises to have improved volume, clarity, and call performance. Like the SB1 headset, the SB2 can be used to listen to music wirelessly from your smartphone or music phone and can be used to place and receive calls. AVCRP remote controls are included on the headphones for controlling track on compatible devices. The new headphones will sell for $99.

iPhone 4 reception issues could prompt class-action suit

Image
Nothing like a whiff of Apple controversy to drum up a quick class-action suit, and with more and more iPhone 4 owners discovering their new handset can be fussy about how it’s held, the lawyers are already circling. Kershaw, Cutter & Ratinoff Legal – known for their frequent class-action litigation – are apparently “investigating potential problems” with the new Apple smartphone, and are calling for owner feedback on “poor reception quality, dropped calls and weak signals”. While not a definitive sign that KCRLegal will be going ahead with a suit, it does seem likely that they’ll be pushing for one; after all, the biggest winners in such cases are the lawyers themselves. In a class-action suit alleging that iPod nano PMPs were prone to undue scratching, owners themselves only received between $15 and $37.50 when Apple settled. An easier course of action than trying to take Apple to court is returning your iPhone 4 within the 30-day grace period AT&T offer; more details here
