RIM BlackPad Could be Announced Next Week, Sources Say

Image
The life of BlackBerry’s BlackPad , the mysterious tablet device the Waterloo-based company is supposedly working on, has been a roller coaster so far. Even the last update, with RIM filing a trademark application for the name SurfBook adds more mystery to the whole situation. But, if some sources are to be believed, then it looks like House that Built BlackBerry is all set to stat announcing the tablet, and it could be as early as next week. According to “people familiar with RIM’s plans,” the company could be unveiling the tablet as early as next week at a developer’s conference in San Francisco, California. The release date hasn’t changed from the rumored fourth quarter of this year, so an unveiling next week would make a lot of sense, considering we’re closing in on the end of the third quarter. The BlackPad will feature a 7-inch touchscreen display, and they believe it will have one or two cameras. Other hardware features include the tablet itself being constructed by Quanta Compu

Quirky Trek Support Backpack Will Charge Your Gadgets, Look Good Doing it

Image
The amount of backpacks out there is almost ridiculous. Almost. But,amidst all of them there hasn’t been one that integrates holding your gadgets, as well as charging them, in such a way that people would want to use it for any periods of time. Or outdoors, where people can see you. That’s all about to change thanks to the Quirky community, and their brand new Trek Support backpack. They’e got their bases covered in the features department, and they also managed to make the bag a TSA-compliant one, too. The design is meant to be comfortable, ergonomic, and useful all at the same time. And from the looks of things, Quirky may have indeed accomplished that. The bag features a clamshell design, with a large main pocket at the center, and outer pockets that are smaller to fit your other gadgets. The Trek Support is also created from waterproof, durable nylon, so your toys should stay dry on the inside, even in inclement weather. Inside the main pocket you’ll find a padded nylon board that’

Toshiba Canvio Basics Line-Up Released, Available Only in Glossy Black

Image
Toshiba managed to quietly slip out a line-up of external hard drives on Tuesday, building up the library of already offered products. The drives are straightforward, even in their color scheme, and don’t offer much in the “spectacular feature” category, but if you’re in the market for a new external HDD, then these might just be the ticket. The Canvio Basics line of hard drives come in 320/500/750GB capacities, and offer users USB 2.0 connectivity. Toshiba obviously meant these just to be external hard drives and nothing more, which will probably attract plenty of people who just want to get their hands on some extra storage without all the extra features. However, they aren’t completely bland. The line-up offers ramp-loading technology, an internal shock sensor, and Toshiba is offering up a three-year warranty. The drives are all 2.5-inches. As far as pricing goes, you can get your hands on the 320GB hard drive for $80; the 500GB one for $100; and the 750GB model for $120. All of th

Kleybanova wins Korea Open

Image
Alisa Kleybanova won the Korea Open after a straight-sets victory over Klara Zakopalova in the final in Seoul. The fifth-seeded Russian beat her Czech opponent 6-1 6-3 in one hour 12 minutes to claim her second title. Kleybanova was on the front foot from the off as she raced into a 5-0 lead in the first set and her dominance continued throughout the match. Kleybanova converted six of her seven break point opportunities and saved three of the five she faced. The victory was the Russian's first over Zakopalova in their second career meeting.

Sneijder: I'd only play for United

Image
Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder says he would play in England, but only for Manchester United. The Dutch World Cup star has been linked with the Old Trafford giants in recent months but has so far stayed loyal to European champions Inter. But now Sneijder, who claimed recently that his former San Siro boss Jose Mourinho wants to be Sir Alex Ferguson's eventual successor, has admitted that he too could end up in the North West. He told the Daily Star Sunday: ''If somebody asks me if I will ever play for Manchester United, it's impossible for me to say no. How can you say that if the chance came you would not play for one of the biggest clubs in the world. ''I don't think there is any player in the world who could publically rule out ever playing for Manchester United, and if they did I would doubt they were telling the truth." Sneijder has already played for some of Europe's very top clubs - Ajax, Real Madrid and now Inter. And he clearly beli

Jacobs credits victory to team effort

Image
Warriors captain Davy Jacobs said the comfortable win against South Australia in the semifinal was a result of team effort. He was of the view that both his batsmen and bowlers were impressive upfront which set the platform for the 30-run win over the Australian side. "Obviously, I am very happy with the win. We got off to a good start and anything over 160 on this track was tough. And then (Lonwabo) Tsotsobe gave us a dream start with the ball," said  Jacobs , who earned the man-of-the-match for his 41-ball 61. "The first six overs in a Twenty20 game, both with the bat and the ball, is very important," he added.

Owen: United will bounce back

Image
Michael Owen was not in celebratory mood after his 200th career goal could only secure a point for Manchester United at Bolton. Owen, who came off the bench to score his landmark goal, said: "It's always a tough place to come but we created enough chances and dominated most of the game but we're disappointed to only get a point. "With the results this weekend it was an opportunity to close that gap at the top but it wasn't to be and we have to focus on our next game now. "We were helped with a few nice resutls yesterday but when you don't capitalise fully it's disappointing. It's a long season and we'll bounce back." United manager Sir Alex Ferguson felt a draw was a fair result, adding: "In the first half we should have done better but we did well to come from behind. "The second half was very even. Bolton were a real handful and our chances were reduced but we must take credit for coming back again, it shows a bit of character

Bolton Wanderers 2-2 Man United

Image
Michael Owen rescued a point for Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson's men twice had to come from behind against Bolton. Owen nodded home Nani's free-kick 16 minutes from time to ensure United did not join the other victims on a weekend of shock defeats. Yet it was hardly a pleasing outcome for Ferguson, who would have hoped for better once Nani levelled Zat Knight's early effort but instead saw his team fall behind again thanks to Martin Petrov. As United have now conceded nine goals in five league games and trail leaders Chelsea by three points, it was not the best of weekends for them, nor an out-of-sorts Wayne Rooney, who was replaced by Federico Macheda half-an-hour from the end. Saturday's results could not have worked out any better for United and the intent behind their attacking play was obvious from the first kick, but defensively they remain unconvincing. The absence of Rio Ferdinand with Wednesday's Champions League encounter with Valencia in mind was

Wenger: We deserved zero points

Image
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted his side had been poor against West Brom and did not deserve anything out of the game. The Gunners went down 3-2 against the Baggies at home in one of the shock results of the season. "We were poor and we got a poor result," said Wenger. "We were poor everywhere, at the back, up front and in the middle of the park. "We had an off day and were not good enough to win the game. I believe the concentration that gives you the sharpness was not there today.

Mancini: Chelsea will still win title!

Image
Roberto Mancini is still tipping Chelsea to win the Premier League despite Manchester City's 1-0 victory. Mancini raised eyebrows on the eve of the game when he claimed the Londoners were the best in England and would retain their title "easily". It was a startling claim from someone who has spent more than £100million on his own squad this summer. Yet even after Carlos Tevez had scored an excellent second-half winner to give City their third straight win against Chelsea after completing the double last term, Mancini did not change his view. "I still think they will win it easily because I think they are the best team in the Premier League," he said.

Alonso races to Singapore GP win

Image
Fernando Alonso has won the Singapore Grand Prix after holding off the challenge of Red Bull's Sebastien Vettel. Alonso made it three wins in five races on another day of bitter frustration for Lewis Hamilton. He clinched victory in the Singapore Grand Prix by just 0.2 seconds from Vettel to move within 11 points of title frontrunner Mark Webber who finished third. But for the second successive race Hamilton's day culminated in retirement after a collision with Webber on lap 36 as he tried to claim a podium spot. The first half of the 61-lap race was relatively routine, save for an early safety car at the start of lap three as Vitantonio Liuzzi broke the left-rear suspension of his Force India after pranging a wall. It prompted Red Bull and Webber to gamble given he had started from fifth on the grid, and had failed to gain any ground once the night race began, making an early stop for tyres. In fact, the first five away from the line were the first five over it again at the en

Webber disappointed with qualifying

Image
Formula One championship leader Mark Webber has vowed to "hang in there" after witnessing his rivals qualify ahead of him. For only the third time in 15 races this year, Webber will not start from the first two rows of the grid with the Australian fifth at the Marina Bay street circuit. Critically for Webber, Ferrari's Fernando Alonso is on pole followed by Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel and the McLaren duo of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. "I knew the front row was going to be very competitive, but I'm disappointed to be off the second row," said Webber, who finished six tenths of a second behind Alonso.

'Dabangg' juggernaut continues, 1st week share should be Rs. 48 cr. to Rs. 50 cr.

Image
DABANGG is on a rampage, shattering all past records that come in its path! The film is setting new records and ranks amongst the biggest openers ever. Of course, the Wednesday and Thursday figures will decide where it stands vis-a-vis the first week business of 3 IDIOTS. But as thing stand today, if the film continues to perform the way it's performing, the first week share from India theatrical alone of DABANGG will be anywhere between Rs. 48 cr. to Rs. 50 cr . The rentals at single screens are very low and since the business at single screens is humungous, the distributors' share from single screens will be unprecedented. What's noteworthy is that DABANGG will recover the entire costs from India theatrical alone . Meanwhile, the film collected Rs. 8 cr. nett on Tuesday, which takes the 5-day total to Rs. 66 cr. to Rs. 67 cr. nett. Sensational!

Aakrosh Music Review

Image
EXPECTATIONS When an album has the name Pritam attached to it, there is always a guarantee that results would be good, especially when the film comprises of reputed names. Though the composer is not always in form, especially when it comes to smaller films, there is always a chartbuster or two that one can expect from him when he associates himself with a biggie. However, for a film like Aakrosh one does play the album with balanced expectations. Reason being that it is not a conventional commercial flick with much scope for 'pyaar mohabbat' affair, something that often gives the composer good enough room to play in. With Irshad Kamil in tow, Pritam comes up with five songs for Aakrosh. MUSIC  Since its very onset, the promotion of Aakrosh has been centred on 'Isak Se Meetha', an item song picturised on Sameera Reddy. On the same lines as 'Beedi Jalaile Le' [Omkara] and 'Munni Badnaam' [Dabangg], 'Isak Se Meetha ' too has a rur

The 'Unconventional' Ajay Devgn's triumph in M

Image
If there were 101 ways of speaking your heart out, his eyes have done it all! We are indeed talking about the one and only Ajay Devgn, who is on the cover of M magazine. Well, this interview is nothing short of a mini biography of the star, in which he goes onto confess stuff like, "I am claustrophobic. I cannot get into a closed lift." And the man who is well-equipped to bash a trillion guys on screen, in real life, is scared of loneliness! Ajay also says that, "I consider myself lucky to have achieved whatever I wanted to and to have achieved in my own terms." And to top it all, he bounces off a bouncer stating, "I used to edit the film scenes when I was 11 or 12 years old!" We give full brownie points to this man for being such a sweetheart as he goes onto confess, "I am bad at singing", pointing out at his famous singing act in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam . All in all, buy this magazine for an inner-view through this interview!

"Brazilian men turned out to be a little too upfront for me" - Priyanka Chopra

Image
Priyanka Chopra had a close shave with some overt amorous attention in Rio de Janeiro where she has just packed up shooting for a reality show. Brazilian guys are known to be extravagant in their affection, especially for Oriental women. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Bipasha Basu who shot in Rio de Janeiro for Dhoom 2 before Priyanka would vouch for Brazilian man-power. But the guy who pursued Priyanka in Rio took amorous attention to another level. A hot-blooded gentleman, a local well-to-do businessman apparently of substantial good looks, he insisted on trailing her everywhere with his marriage proposals. Boarding her flight for a 25-hours journey back to Mumbai on Wednesday morning, Priyanka peeped anxiously from her aircraft to see if the Brazilian suitor was following her to India. "Brazilian men turned out to be a little too upfront for me. They don't waste time in making their moves. This guy didn't ask me out. He asked me to marry him right away.
