Baghdatis through in Malaysia

Image
Marcos Baghdatis progressed to round two of the Malaysian Open with a straight-sets win over Japan's Kei Nishikori. The Cypriot triumphed 6-1 6-1 inside 54 minutes, breaking serve five times without reply as he overwhelmed the 20-year-old, ranked 105 places below Baghdatis at 123rd in the world. Canada's Milos Raonic provided the shock result of the day with a 7-6 (8/6) 6-3 win over Russian Igor Kunitsyn, serving a colossal 23 aces along the way. Kunitsyn's compatriot Igor Andreev fared better, beating Japan's Go Soeda 6-1 6-4, while Ukraine's Alexander Dolgopolov eased to a 6-3 6-1 win over unheralded Frenchman Laurent Recouderc.

Del Potro loses first match on comeback

Image
Juan Martin Del Potro's first match since January ended in defeat to Olivier Rochus at the PTT Thailand Open. The Argentinian, who had not played since the Australian Open due to a wrist injury, has fallen to 36th in the world rankings but was seeded fifth for the tournament in Bangkok. But he ran into the Belgian in top form, Rochus finding the mark with 82% of first serves in an opening set which he took on a tie-break. Del Potro managed a break in the second but he also dropped serve twice as Rochus completed a 7-6 (9/7) 6-4 win in an hour and 44 minutes.

Zvonareva brushes past Errani

Image
Vera Zvonareva made short work of Sara Errani beating her 6-3 6-3 to enter the third round of the Pan Pacific Open. Second seed Zvonareva, in her first match since her run to the title match at Flushing Meadows, was rarely threatened as she secured her first win in three visits to the event. Top seed and world number two Caroline Wozniacki is through after easing past Hungarian qualifier Greta Arn for the loss of four games.

Sharapova stunned by Date in Tokyo

Image
Japanese veteran Kimiko Date Krumm upset 12th seed Maria Sharapova in three sets at the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo. Date Krumm, who will turn 40 on Tuesday, won 17 of 21 points from 2-3 0-40 down in the decider to overcome the 23-year-old former world number one from Russia 7-5 3-6 6-3. The 39-year-old wild card's reward will be a second-round date with Slovakia's Daniela Hantuchova. In other early first-round action, Date Krumm's compatriot Kurumi Nara did not fare so well, going down 4-6 6-2 6-1 to Kazakhstan's Yaroslava Shvedova.

Chela completes Bucharest double

Image
Juan Ignacio Chela completed a perfect week at the BCR Open in Bucharest by adding the singles title to his doubles win. The fourth-seeded Argentinian dug deep to take a hard-fought opening set against Spain's Pablo Andujar before easing clear in the second to post a 7-5 6-1 triumph in 88 minutes. The victory marks the world number 53's second title of the year and sixth of his career, and comes just a day after the 31-year-old won the doubles crown alongside Lukasz Kubot. "It was an unbelievable week winning in both singles and doubles. I didn't expect that," Chela said.

"Lampard needs more time to recover"

Image
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Frank Lampard will miss their Champions League clash against Marseille. Lampard will be absent from England's clash against Montenegro at Wembley next month after Ancelotti insisted that the player needs more time to recover from hernia surgery. The 32-year-old midfielder, who will also miss Sunday's Premier League encounter with Arsenal, has now been absent for a month and Ancelotti maintained that he would not be in contention for a return to action until after the international break. "Frank cannot play tomorrow," said Ancelotti.

Mourinho to turn to Benzema

Image
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has confirmed Karim Benzema will start their Champions League encounter with Auxerre. Madrid have only netted eight times in six competitive matches this season despite creating numerous chances and Mourinho admitted after Saturday's goalless draw at Levante his team's poor form in front of goal was a concern for him. Mourinho has started with the same attacking quartet of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain, Angel Di Maria and Mesut Ozil for the last four matches but Benzema, who last made the first XI against Osasuna a fortnight ago, will get the chance to shine tomorrow against his countrymen.

Totti: I'll be loyal to Roma

Image
Francesco Totti has played down his reaction to being substituted in the game against Inter Milan. Totti was taken off in the 76th minute of Saturday's Serie A clash and promptly marched straight down the tunnel before leaving the Stadio Olimpico without celebrating the 1-0 win, which came courtesy of a last-minute goal from his replacement Mirko Vucinic. The former Italy playmaker, 34 today, is believed to be frustrated at coach Claudio Ranieri's reluctance to play him for the full 90 minutes but said today he would not let the issue fester. Totti said: "I would have loved to celebrate my birthday with a goal but I got a gift from Vucinic. The victory may be the turning point. "I have never been nor will I ever be a problem for Roma.

"Man United lucky to have Rooney"

Image
Bolton boss Owen Coyle has jumped to the defence of Wayne Rooney. The Manchester United striker is struggling for form at present and was substituted with half-an-hour remaining of Sunday's 2-2 draw at the Reebok Stadium. Even if he overcomes a minor ankle niggle to make the flight to Spain for Wednesday's Champions League clash with Valencia, there are some who wonder whether Michael Owen would be a better choice to partner Dimitar Berbatov given the former Liverpool star scored his third goal in a week to earn the Red Devils a precious point.

Carvalho: Jose thinks like a player

Image
Ricardo Carvalho has followed manager Jose Mourinho from Porto to Chelsea, and most recently, to Real Madrid. The centreback has a unique bond with his fellow Portuguese, and gave credit to Mourinho for being able to think from a player's perspective. "His Porto was fantastic," Carvalho told AS. "We were all very well attuned and the way we played was perfect. "He is a coach who thinks like the players or myself: it's worth more playing badly to win than playing well to lose.

Obertan: I want to replace Valencia

Image
Gabriel Obertan believes that he can fill the gap that Antonio Valencia's injury has left in the Manchester United squad. The Manchester United winger has just recovered from a pre-season injury and is looking forward to taking his chance in the squad in Antonio Valencia's absence. Speaking to his clubs website, Obertan said: "It is sad for Antonio, and he will have our full-support while he is injured. "However, it also gives us players in the same position as him a chance to make an impact in the first-team.

Guti: I wasn't forced out by Mourinho

Image
Former Real Madrid midfielder Guti insisted that he was not forced out of the club by new manager Jose Mourinho. Guti had left Madrid in the summer for a move to Turkish side Besiktas, amid rumours that he had been edged out by incoming coach Jose Mourinho after an argument. The 33-year-old refuted the allegations, saying: "I've never spoken to ‘Mou', so there was no misunderstanding between us." Fellow Real Madrid stalwart Raul had also left La Liga in the summer, and Guti felt sad that the only send-off they received was a press conference.

Drogba: I could leave Chelsea

Image
Didier Drogba has admitted that there is no guarantee that he will be at Chelsea next season. The Ivorian will not play against his former club Marseille for Chelsea in their Champions League clash this week as a result of suspension. In the lead-up to the fixture, Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti has had to refute claims that Marseille had made a bid for Drogba. The 32-year-old player, signed for £24million in 2004, still has two years of his contract to run, but in comments quoted by the Sun, admitted that he could end up leaving Chelsea in the future.

"Rooney can't have it both ways"

Image
England football legend Kevin Keegan has criticised Wayne Rooney for his performances for Manchester United. The striker has not been in good form for the Red Devils, and Keegan blasted the striker for not "firing on all cylinders". In comments quoted by the Sun, Keegan said: "Manchester United are minus Wayne Rooney at the moment. "It's a different Wayne Rooney this year. It's not the same. It's like chalk and cheese.

Inter headache over Milito injury

Image
Inter Milan striker Diego Milito has a leg injury and could miss playing Werder Bremen in the Champions League. The Argentine was substituted in the second half of the Serie A clash, which ended 1-0 in favour of the Romans. The Nerazzurri are to begin their preparations for Wednesday's Champions League clash against Bremen and this turn of developments will not please manager Rafa Benitez, who is already under pressure after taking over the Inter hotseat from Jose Mourinho. Benitez could field either Jonathan Biabiany or Philippe Coutinho if Milito is unavailable, and will wait anxiously for the results of test which should show the extent of the injury.  According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milito's quadriceps muscle is strained, and this could leave him out of action for the next few weeks.

"No keeper? No hope for Arsenal"

Image
Arsenal will not win the Premier League again until Arsene Wenger replaces Manuel Almunia, according to George Graham. The Spaniard was at fault for West Brom's second goal in the Gunners' 3-2 home defeat on Saturday, letting Gonzalo Jara's shot slip through his hands and into the net. "I think if you're going to really be realistic challengers for the Premiership you need a top top class goalkeeper," Graham told Five Live's Sportsweek programme. "I think Almunia is a good goalkeeper, but there's about half a dozen good goalkeepers in the Premier League. I think Arsenal need an outstanding goalkeeper. "I think they should be looking all round the world, not just in England or Europe."

Tottenham eye frustrated Fabiano

Image
Tottenham have been linked with a move for Luis Fabiano after the player's agent said his client might leave Sevilla. Fabiano was reported to be top of Spurs boss Harry Redknapp's wishlist over the summer after they booked their first season in the Champions League. But Tottenham were unable to prise the Brazil international away from Sevilla, who were demanding in excess of £20million for their prolific goalscorer. And it looked as though the 29-year-old would not be heading to England any time soon after agreeing a three-year contract extension with the Spanish side in the summer.

Giggs ruled out for two weeks

Image
Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs will be out for "a couple of weeks" after damaging his hamstring at Bolton. Giggs and team-mate Wayne Rooney were substituted in the second half at the Reebok, with Rooney putting ice on his left ankle after being replaced. United next face Valencia in the Champions League on Wednesday night and manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Ryan is the most serious, it's a hamstring and I'm afraid he will be out for a couple of weeks. But Rooney should be fit for the midweek encounter.

Alonso hitting peak in title race

Image
Fernando Alonso has warned his Formula One world title rivals he feels at his peak more now than in any previous season. Written off more than once this year, a rejuvenated Alonso is the form driver of the five in contention for the championship. Three victories in the last five races have catapulted the 29-year-old to within 11 points of championship leader Mark Webber. Remarkably, Alonso is nine clear of Lewis Hamilton after his win in Singapore at the weekend, a driver he trailed by 47 points prior to his resurgent run. It is no wonder Alonso is bubbling as he said: "A championship that is nine months long rarely happens in other sports.

Domenicali: Alonso was exceptional!

Image
Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali hailed Fernando Alonso's Singapore Grand Prix win as an "exceptional performance". Alonso produced a flawless display for 61 laps under the lights of the Marina Bay street circuit that included two safety car periods and relentless pressure from runner-up Sebastian Vettel in his Red Bull. With three wins in his last five races and back-to-back successes for the first time in two years, Alonso is now a man to be feared as the title fight heads into the final four grands prix.

Doubts hover over Korean GP

Image
Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone expressed his doubts that the Korean Grand Prix will go ahead. Ordinarily a new venue should be fit for purpose 90 days before an event is scheduled, but to accommodate Korea on the calendar, that rule has been stretched to breaking point. It means a decision will be made just 11 days before a car is due to officially take to the circuit for Friday practice on October 22, with the race to follow on the 24th. The FIA have tonight confirmed to Press Association Sport the date of safety delegate Charlie Whiting's next inspection, which will be the day after the Japanese Grand Prix.

Alonso: Title race will be tight

Image
Fernando Alonso has no doubts the Formula One title appears poised to go all the way to the wire. For the first time in two years the double world champion chalked up back-to-back wins, following up his triumph in Italy a fortnight ago with a faultless performance in Singapore. With three wins in his past five races to take his career tally to 25, Alonso is up to sixth-equal in Formula One's all-time history of race winners alongside Jim Clark and Niki Lauda. The 29-year-old is now second in the standings of the five drivers battling it out in the championship, 11 points behind leader Mark Webber with four races remaining. "It remains very tight," said Alonso.

Webber absolves Hamilton of blame

Image
Mark Webber feels Lewis Hamilton "had to have a go" in their Singapore Grand Prix shunt. A fortnight ago Hamilton was undeniably at fault for running into Felipe Massa's Ferrari on the first lap at Monza, which cost him the lead of the world championship to Webber. With four races to go Hamilton finds himself 20 points adrift of the Australian after retiring for a second successive race, this time just over midway through the night event at the Marina Bay street circuit.

Dhoni: Indians not wary of SA pitches

Image
MS Dhoni said that Indian cricketers are no longer wary of South African pitches after the Champions League Twenty20 tournament. Dhoni , who spoke to the newspaper after beating local team Warriors in the final, said that pitches in South Africa are no longer alien in nature for the senior India players. "Most of our players played here during the second edition of IPL and now also in the Champions League Twenty20. "The experience of playing on these pitches has been invaluable," Dhoni said. The Indians will be touring South Africa during the end of this year.

'Ind–Aus promises to be a special one'

Image
As the Ind-Aus series approaches, we take a walk down the memory lane and re-live all the defining moments in the history of these countries. Dennis Lillee, Greg Chappell and Rod Marsh never played a Test in India. They made their debut after the 1969-70 series, and by the next tour ten years later had been lost to Kerry Packer. Greg Chappell nearly made it to the team where his brother Ian was seen as the best player of spin bowling. But he was passed over for Western Australia’s Jock Irvine who must have been an excellent fielder because he was 12th man in all five Tests. Irvine never played a Test – and lent his name to the Irvine Club in Australia which is for those who nearly made it!

"Sachin inspirational for Ponting"

Image
Former Oz skipper Mark Taylor feels that Ponting should take inspiration from Tendulkar to resurrect his batting. "I think  Sachin  has had a rebirth. He is really batting at his best and that can be a sort of inspiration for Ponting . It might be difficult for him to overhaul Sachin's number of centuries because the Indian master is lengthening the gap between them," said Taylor. Taylor was, however quick to point out that though Ponting was not at his best, he was still a handful.

Harbhajan may be advised rest

Image
Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh on Monday underwent an MRI scan in a Chandigarh hospital after suffering a side sprain. The off-spinner was seen limping during the practice session of the team as his ankle was bandaged. He though took part in the training after taking a break. He later bowled at the nets of Sector-16 stadium here after the conclusion of the match between Australia and Board President's XI and then in the evening went to Fortis Hospital for the MRI scan. "He underwent an MRI scan around pelvic and hip area. There is no serious injury but since he got a sprain, it would be advisable to take rest for the next few days," Fortis sources said. Harbhajan  will visit the hospital in the morning to know the status of his niggle. Both the India openers -- Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag -- have also suffered minor injuries.

Dhoni lauds ‘aggressive’ Ashwin

Image
MS Dhoni’s processes and plans worked to clockwork precision on Sunday as Chennai stormed to the ACLT20 title.  His trademark shot to the fence helped the Chennai Super Kings win the Airtel CL T20 but  MS Dhoni  remained and as cool and collected as ever- even as the rest of his team went wild with frenzy. And why not- they had achieved a double within the space of months- the IPL and now the conquest in South Africa- a conquest that obviously came on the back of some strong planning. The calm Dhoni exuded after hitting the winning runs in a packed Wanderers, three years after he had led India to the World T20 championship reflected how he looked at the final on Sunday. “We stick to processes and if we stick to them, we will end up on the winning side,” is something Dhoni often says. Sunday evening was an example of what exactly he means. There is nothing copybook in his cricket or captaincy but there certainly is a clever method to all his ‘Midas touches.’

Sonam Kapoor down with Typhoid

Image
While Mumbai whether is giving hard time to everyone, our very own Aisha has fallen sick as well. Sonam Kapoor has been under house arrest thanks to Typhoid. She took to it right after she came back from her Toronto shoot. She had high fever and after many tests the ailment was diagnosed as Typhoid. The actress has been advised complete bed rest for another two weeks. So while she recuperates, Sonam is also catching up on her reading that took a backseat with her crazy shooting schedule and she is also watching a lot of movies and documentaries. So, Sonam is getting a lot of pampering from her dad Anil Kapoor, sister Rhea and few other close friends.

Akshay Kumar goes 'Retro' full time to promote Action Replayy

Image
Its common knowledge that actors usually get into the character they play but for the first time, an actor is going into a different time period altogether. Well, we've always heard of actors doing different things to promote their films. However, Akshay is all set to take promotions on a different level altogether. The star will be going full time retro. So wherever he goes and whatever he does, it would be in retro style. Akshay is going this extra mile to now promote his film Action Replayy . Well, the buzz is that from tomorrow onwards, Akshay is going to go retro. Since Action Replayy is a 70s story; Akshay is going to don only retro clothes from tomorrow onwards. So if he makes any public appearances, shoots for any other film, attends parties, basically all places he goes to, including having dinner with wife Twinkle, Akshay will be seen in only retro attire. To go retro in real life, Akshay is leaving no stone unturned. He has asked designer Shab

Anand Raj Anand composes two songs for CWG

Image
It was hot news that renowned music composer A R Rahman composed the anthem for the soon to be held Common Wealth Games; however, the song failed to impress. Now we hear that music composer and singer Anand Raj Anand will also be composing two songs for the CWG. If what we hear is anything to go by then the two songs titled - ' Invitation ' and ' Celebration ' - have a common slogan - Come out and play, with the first being a heart warming track and the second is said to be a foot tapping peppy number. Both the songs are said to have a thick Punjabi flavour with loads of energy. What's more, Anand will also be performing the songs at the opening ceremony of the games. Two music videos will be released on September 24, while the audio CD will be released by Times Music.

Chitrangda Singh features with SRK in Airtel commercial

Image
After having signed leading FMCG brands like Aviva, Taj Mahal tea and likes, Chitrangda Singh has now been chosen as the brand ambassador for the telecom major Airtel. Speaking about this association exclusively to Bollywood Hungama , she said "The ad is going to be dubbed in 11 languages, but have been shot in two languages, Hindi and Tamil. While in Hindi ad, I'll be seen with Shah Rukh Khan, in Tamil, there's the southern superstar Karthik. The association with the Airtel brand has been really great, as it extends that kind of credibility to me as well." Talking about her co-star SRK, a super excited Chitrangda says, "It was just fabulous. I was totally in awe of him. During the shoot, I was just mum initially, then, it was all cool. SRK is an extremely nice, modest and cool person." The said ad has been directed by Uzer Khan. On the professional front, this PYT is super excited about her forthcoming film Yeh Saali Zindagi . W

Aakrosh release shifted to October 8

Image
Barely two days after vocalizing an ostensibly immovable determination to release their film this Friday and hardly hours after the newspapers announced September 24 as the release date, the Anjaana Anjaani team has done an about-turn on the release date. On Monday afternoon it was decided that the film would now be released a week ahead of schedule on October 1. A huge setback for the film as it now has to compete for eyeballs with two other biggies Priyadarshan's Aakrosh and Shankar's Robot . Director Siddharth Anand who had earlier stated that neither the Ayodhya-Babri Masjid verdict nor the Dabangg factor would prevent Anjaana Anjaani from releasing this Friday now has this to say about the postponement: "There are too many reasons for the postponement. The court verdict seems too much of a risk and danger to the release." What about the additional burden of keeping the marketing and promotion going for an extra week? Says Siddharth,

'Dabangg' director spells out his plans

Image
Abhinav Kashyap is the the most sought after director today. The first-time director, who has delivered a massive hit DABANGG, is being chased by reputed production houses to sign on the dotted line. But Abhinav is in no hurry to grab each and every film offer that comes his way. Unlike some directors who go on a signing spree by signing half-a-dozen films the moment a film clicks, Abhinav has decided to weigh the pros and cons before signing his next film. "I've decided to sign just one film, that's it. I need to be satisfied on all fronts before I commit to that one film," Abhinav tells me, "There have been several film offers, plenty of them. But I haven't signed any film yet. I don't believe in signing 15 films at one go." Of course, Abhinav has committed to direct DABANGG 2 for Arbaaz Khan, "but that project will happen only in 2012, since Salman is busy with various film assignments till then. Which means I have

'Rakht Charitra - Part I' is not shifting ahead

Image
With ANJAANA ANJAANI being pushed ahead by one week [the film will arrive on October 1], a number of forthcoming films are likely to be pushed ahead as well. Why clash with another biggie and divide the business? However, producer Madhu Mantena is sticking to the release date of both his movies - JHOOTHA HI SAHI [15th October] and RAKHT CHARITRA - Part I [22nd October]. "I am not shifting ahead," Madhu quashes rumours about RAKHT CHARITRA - Part I getting shifted to a latter date. In fact, RAKHT CHARITRA - Part I will open in three versions [Hindi, Tamil and Telugu] on the same date - 22nd October. Meanwhile, the makers are ready with RAKHT CHARITRA - Part II as well and will decide the release date once the first part has released.

Anjaana Anjaani to release on 1st October

Image
There was slight uncertainty which was building up around the release date of Anjaana Anjaani . Though plans for 24th September were finalised months back, the latest developments around the court verdict to be passed around 60 year-old Ayodhya title suit has apparently led to some rethinking amongst the makers. Add to that the fact that the film's lead Ranbir Kapoor has shared his thoughts around the film's release pretty openly has led to further round of speculations. During one of the promotional events of the film, Ranbir Kapoor went on record to state that it was improper to release the film on 24th September since such a big national level decision was being announced on the same day. He felt that it was more appropriate to release Anjaana Anjaani a week later. Though producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Siddharth Anand were supposedly not quite prepared for such comments, they have now been prompted to give it all a rational thinking and ar

Lara Dutta and Mahesh Bhupathi get engaged

Image
One of Bollywood's gorgeous and stunning lady is now taken. Mahesh Bhupathi, the tennis star, proposed to Lara Dutta over a candle lit dinner. If that isn't enough, for the romantic at heart, Mahesh did it with a ring that he designed himself that had a stone picked especially by the man for his woman. It all happened a month ago in the glitz and glam of New York City where Mahesh was visiting for the US Open. Now this one relationship, that was under the media scrutiny time and again, is finally official. Earlier Lara would always call their relationship as "just friends" when asked, but now she can't help but blush. The couple waited to make things public as Mahesh was going through a divorce and needed time to get things sorted. Mahesh's ex wife, Svetha Jaishankar, though didn't leave any opportunity to blame Lara for the divorce, Lara on her part, did clarify saying that she met the tennis star a year after he separated from his ex wife.

Akshay-Bhansali-Prabhu Deva: A killer combination

Image
Over the week gone by, there have been speculations galore around the latest movie being signed by Akshay Kumar. It is being whispered in the industry circles that the actor has signed a film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Prabhu Deva would be calling the shots as a director. It was also being assumed that with Bhansali around, the film would have a period setting and due to Prabhu Deva's inclination towards dance, the film would require some intense Indian classical dancing by Akshay Kumar. We bring to you the real truth exclusively at Bollywood Hungama . Yes, it is confirmed that Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Prabhu Deva would be collaborating for a film. The film would be co-produced by Bhansali and Akshay while Prabhu Deva would be directing his second Hindi film after Wanted . However, the speculation around this being a period dance drama is incorrect. The film is being set in the modern times and has a contemporary feel to it. Also, d

Crest Animation associates with CRL for 'Alpha and Omega' rendering

Image
Mumbai based Crest Animation Studios has announced its association with Computational Research Laboratories (CRL), for rendering Alpha and Omega , India's first 3D stereoscopic animation feature developed by Crest. The announcement was made at a joint press conference in Pune on 18th September. The film Alpha and Omega , which was released on 17th September this year, was completed in record time using 'Eka' supercomputer at CRL, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons. As the studio claims, this is the first time an Indian studio has taken on the top global animation studios on their own turf by releasing the movie in screens across US and Europe, and marks yet another milestone in Indian Animation industry. In conjunction to its own infrastructure, Crest used the high-performance computing infrastructure at CRL to accelerate its rendering schedule by about 5 months. CRL's supercomputer 'Eka', which was used in this project, is one

Kareena Kapoor opposite Salman Khan in 'Bodyguard'

Image
It's confirmed! Kareena Kapoor will star opposite Salman Khan in brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri's next project, a remake of the Malayalam hit BODYGUARD. There was speculation that Katrina Kaif would essay the lead role, but Atul clarifies, "See, we have already decided to release our film during the Eid week next year. Since Katrina has committed her dates to other projects, we decided to cast an actor whose dates would match with Salman's and would facilitate the release of the film during the festive week next year." However, this combo - Salman and Kareena - hasn't delivered a Hit in the past. "It all depends on the film and how the audience takes to it. Why blame a pair for its failure? Besides, they may be third time lucky with my film," Atul smiles. Meanwhile, Atul is keen on calling his film BODYGUARD, not MY LOVE STORY or MERI LOVE STORY. Directed by Siddique, the film has music by Pritam.

'Zandu Balm' manufacturer sues Dabangg producers

Image
One man's food is another man's poison. This saying couldn't be further from truth in case of the hit song ' Munni Badnaam '. Life cannot get more ironic than this, as on one hand, the makers of Dabangg are rejoicing the stupendous success of the track, while on the other, they are 'facing the music', courtesy Emami, the makers of 'Zandu Balm'. Emami has slapped a legal notice to Arbaaz Khan Productions Private Limited for using their brand's name 'Zandu Balm' in the song ' Munni Badnaam ' from the film Dabangg . The company claims that the brand name 'Zandu Balm' was used in the song without their consent. Emami has asked now asked the producers to either withdraw the song or delete the brand name from it. Response from Dabangg 's producers on this case is awaited.

Rahman reworks on Common Wealth Games Anthem

Image
Rahman's much awaited theme song for the CWG - ' Jiyo Utho Badho Jeeto ' - when released was showered with criticism from every quarter whatsoever. Even the CWG committee didn't spare it. Rahman was then asked to be rework on the track. The good news is that the tweaking and layering has been done. When asked by the committee to rework on the song, Mehboob who penned the words for the anthem, took the criticism to heart. He went all out to defend his work as he exclaimed that it was an anthem and not some Bollywood song. He also made a point in telling everyone that Rahman's songs take time to catch on. Mehboob and Rahman worked on the anthem for almost six months before its first release. To give the anthem a fresher perspective, Rahman has now added layers to it along with some folk instruments making it more peppy, short and tight. This time on, a music video will also be released featuring some of the famed Indian sports stars showcasi
