Ray Wise moves into 'Dollhouse'

Image
It’s not James Marsters but this will do nicely… Dollhouse has tapped spooky-cool Ray Wise to join the cast in the potentially recurring role of Howard, an intelligent higher-up in the Dollhouse who has huge presence and humor. Wise is coming off of a two-year stint as Lucifer on The CW’s Reaper. Of course, he’ll forever be the dude who offed Laura Palmer. Dollhouse, which kicks off season 2 a week from Friday, is amassing quite the impressive talent roster this season. In addition to Wise, upcoming guest stars include Jamie Bamber, Keith Carradine, Alexis Denisoff, and Summer Glau. [Source: AusielloFiles]

'True Blood' ends season on high note

Image
On Sunday, HBO’s season finales for sophomore vampire drama “True Blood” (5.1 million) and freshman comedy “Hung” (2.9 million) ended strong. Though “Blood” didn’t set yet another ratings record for its finale, the show concluded its season up sharply from where it started. The same can’t be said for “Hung,” which finished about where it opened. Still, when you factor repeat viewings, as HBO loves to do, “Hung” is tracking to be HBO’s most-watched first-year series. http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/09/true-blood-ends-on-high-note.html

How Not To Live Your Life returns with series 2 premiere Sept 15th

Image
How Not To Live Your Life BBC3, 10.30pm DON Danbury pretty much has it all – a big house inherited from his late grandmother, a friend and housekeeper of Labrador-like loyalty in the shape of his gran's former live-in carer Eddie, and a beautiful lodger for whom he has held a long-time infatuation. All he needs now is a decent personality and some social skills. "Don is completely incapable of doing anything right," says Dan Clark, who both writes the series and plays the main character. "He has no structure in his life and is basically a bit of a git. But in my head I've always thought he has the potential to start getting his life together. "The thing that separates him from normal people is that he simply doesn't have that part of the brain that says: 'No, you can't say that'." It's perhaps surprising then that a growing number of viewers seem to have taken a shine to the tactless Don. "I think a lot of people were wondering

Defying Gravity, we hardly knew ye

Image
It seems like not even two months ago, I was interviewing Ron Livingston about his exciting new ABC drama, Defying Gravity (probably because it was about 6 weeks ago), and now it's gone. ABC has just announced that last night's episode of Gravity would be its last. Although ABC hasn't given any official word about its cancellation, it wasn't as though it came as much of a surprise, given the show's troubles from the very beginning. According to Ace Showbiz, "It premiered to only 3.83 million viewers on August 2 and the number has constantly deteriorated since then. Last week, ABC has excluded listing Gravity on the schedule after the September 13 episode but did not give explanation to that." The fact that everyone from the show's producers to its actors kept on describing Defying Gravity as " Grey's Anatomy in space," probably didn't help matters much either. I've seen most of the episodes, and while it could have done with a lot

ABC Cancels 'Defying Gravity' After Only 8 Episodes

Image
'Brothers and Sisters' is supposed to take over the time slot only on September 27 but 'Gravity' has been yanked off air before it reaches its due date. It looks like "Defying Gravity" is indeed getting canceled. During its September 13 episode, ABC announced it as the "Season Finale" and did not give any previews to the next episode which is traditionally done to other continuous series. The series about eight astronauts in a space mission was not exactly a hit maker. It premiered to only 3.83 million viewers on August 2 and the number has constantly deteriorated since then. Last week, ABC has excluded listing "Gravity" on the schedule after the September 13 episode but did not give explanation to that. The series was supposed to have at least two more episodes that would run through October but the Alphabet apparently has another option for its Sunday 10/9c slot. "Brothers & Sisters" meanwhile, will begin the fourth season o

Show 101: Gossip Girl, Season Three

The guilty pleasure fashion-fest is tromping back to the airwaves on Monday night. Let's get prepared! Airing: Premieres Monday, Sept. 14th at 8/7c on the CW Why You Might Love It: Because who doesn't like watching rich, obnoxious kids tool around Manhattan on their parents' dime, coming up with cruel schemes and making out with each other? Why You Might Hate It: Because it's about rich, obnoxious kids tooling around Manhattan on their parents' dime, coming up with cruel schemes and making out with each other. Like, in a fake way. It's not even "real", like NYC Prep The Premise: Based (pretty loosely at this point) on the best-selling book series by Cecily von Ziegesar, Gossip Girl follows a host of friends and frenemies--Upper East Side queens Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen, UES kings (kinda queens, too) Nate Archibald and Chuck Bass, poor destitute loft-dwelling Brooklynites Dan and Jenny Humphrey, their parents, and a hobo that no one like

It's the CW. What else would you expect? WHY YOU MIGHT HATE IT: Exaggerated characters with melodramatic problems played by bad actors? It's the CW. What else would you expect? THE PREMISE: One Tree Hill is ancient in comparison to its CW counterparts (Gossip Girl, 90210) -- but the network stalwart is still going strong into its seventh season. The soap-operatic series, set in the non-existent town of Tree Hill N.C., centers around the lives of Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan (James Lafferty), basketball-playing half-brothers who hate each other but unite under a common resentment of their father, Dan (Paul Johansson). The ladies include sexpot Brooke (Sophia Bush), free-thinking Peyt

'Bones' scoop: Booth and Brennan's 'terrible' past uncovered?!

Image
This could be funnier than a scrapbook full of high school portraits. For Bones‘ 100th episode, series creator Hart Hanson is considering rewinding all the way back to Booth and Brennan’s first tag-team assignment, he tells me exclusively. “We alluded in the pilot,” he reminds, “that the first time they worked together — the time before the pilot — that it went very badly. They had a terrible time. So it would be really fun to do a flashback episode.” However, it isn’t written yet, much less written in stone. “It’s in the bin of ideas for the 100th episode, but it’s a big bin!” Hanson jokes.

Exclusive: My Boys Picked Up For Fourth Season

Image
My Boys will return for a fourth season, sources confirm to TVGuide.com exclusively. P.J., Bobby and the gang head back into production on the TBS series in January 2010; Season 4 is scheduled to air next summer. Stephanie and Kenny will surely have to explain themselves when My Boys returns, since the Season 3 cliff-hanger left fans with the query: Have they secretly been dating this whole season?

Julian Sands Cast As Smallville's Jor-El

Image
Terence Stamp may have voiced Jor-El for Smallville, but Julian Sands is taking on his Kryptonian form. As seen in the season finale, Zod (Callum Blue) has ventured to Earth, albeit unaware of Clark (Tom Welling) and who he'll grow to be. Zod has brought a few Kandorians along for the ride — including Jor-El, Clark's biological dad. Sands' casting was first reported by EW's Ausiello. Jor-El first appears in the season's seventh episode, which is titled "Kandor." The new Super-suit debuts at Comic-Con Back at Comic-Con, executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders teased that because of the time-parallel caused by Zod, there would be a chance to see a living Jor-El. "You'll learn pretty quickly -- in Episode 2 -- what happens," said Peterson, who also teased that Stamp will be heard again this season as well. Smallville premieres on Friday, Sept. 25 at 8/7c on the CW

Ratings: Vampire Diaries Premiere Sets CW Record

Image
It's not all bad news for the CW: After the premiere of Melrose Place fizzled, The Vampire Diaries became the most-watched series premiere in the network's history. Diaries' first episode was watched by 4.8 million viewers, enough to top 90210's 2008 debut. The fifth-season-opener of Supernatural, however, didn't hold on to the great lead-in. It drew 3.4 million viewers, a loss of 500,000 from last season's premiere. The night was still dominated, however, by football. NBC's coverage of the Pittsburgh Steelers-Tennessee Titans game averaged 17.8 million viewers, easily trumping a night of repeats on ABC and Fox. CBS' Big Brother 11 was the only other new offering; the reality show drew 7.6 million viewers.

A major arc in the season will be Larry David reuniting the cast of Seinfeld for a reunion episode. Edward Norton Brings Out His Musical Side on Modern Family

Image
Fight Club star Edward Norton is set to guest in a November episode of Modern Family, TVGuide.com has confirmed. Family follows three sections of a semi-dysfunctional but loving family just trying to get through life. Norton's storyline involves the couple that seems the most normal: Phil (Ty Burrell) and Claire (Julie Bowen). As a surprise anniversary gift to her husband Phil, Claire hires a famous band to play, and it includes Norton as the bassist, EW first reported. Norton impressed critics in July while presenting his HBO documentary By the People: The Election of Barack Obama, which followed the Obama campaign trail over two years. Exclusive: Adam Rodriguez Joins Ugly Betty

Image
Adam Rodriguez's character on CSI: Miami disappeared in the Florida Everglades, but apparently the actor found his way to New York: Rodriguez will join the cast of Ugly Betty this season, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. Rodriguez will play Bobby, an old flame of Betty's sister Hilda. "He's an old high school boyfriend, and [he comes] back into their lives," said Rodriguez, who was in New York promoting his role in Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself. "A little romance buds, and there's some drama to go along with it." Rodriguez was coy about who — Hilda or Betty — is involved in the romance. "Maybe a little bit of both," he said with a laugh. "We'll see how it turns out, but it's going to be a lot of fun and it's really funny." Rodriguez will definitely appear in five episodes, but his stay on Betty is likely to be extended, according to a source. Rodriguez's role as Eric Delko on Miami will be wrappe
