Internationally-acclaimed Indian filmmaker Shekhar Kapur expressed his grief on the passing of Australian actor Heath Ledger, who died two years ago. The 'Elizabeth' director dined with Hollywood star Orlando Bloom to remember Ledger. 'It's second anniversary of Heath's passing... Even through the sadness and heavy heart I sense him laughing and smiling almost looking down and saying 'Get on with it, Mate!',' Kapur posted on his blog www.shekharkapur.com/blog, from San Jose, California. 'So, I am just going to look up at Heath's smiling face and say 'Hey, Mate! We are still down here trying to understand it all'... Trying to imitate his broad Australian drawl,' he added. 'Tonight I am going to LA (Los Angeles) and having dinner with Orando Bloom. The last time we met was in Heath's (Ledger) friend's pad in Melbourne, where Heath was proudly showing a rough cut of 'The Four Feathers' (his 2002 movie) to all

Big B in Bangalore for Rann's promotion

Bangalore, Jan.24 (ANI): Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan promoted his upcoming movie 'Rann' (Battle) here on Saturday. His latest film is based on the difficulties and challenges faced in the world of journalism, be it the news of an event or an issue. Speaking about his film journey, Bachchan said that at this age he is portraying only the character roles. "Now I'm 68-year-old and at this age I'll get only this kind of roles. When I was young and you (the media persons) were growing up, the roles I used to get I used to do them. I don't know if you were inspired by them now due to the age. I do not get a leading man's role and I get character roles. I become Bhoot (Ghost) in some movies and Paa in some. The life will go on like this now," said Bachchan. Director Ramgopal Varma said, "So it's (the film) my comment on what I feel as a viewer about the media. It's not to tell the media how to do it or not it's just a comment in a s

Sachin Tendulkar closed in on his 45th Test century as India strengthened their position in the second and final Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Monday. Tendulkar (89 not out) and Rahul Dravid (79 not out) added 155 for the unfinished third wicket as India posted 301-2 in their first innings at tea on the second day in reply to the hosts' modest total of 233. India dominated the first two sessions, scoring 108 in the morning and 124 in the afternoon for the loss of just two wickets. All of India's top-order batsmen were among the runs, with openers Gautam Gambhir (68) and Virender Sehwag (56) earlier putting their team on course for a big total with a 103-run stand. Dravid and Tendulkar both survived a few anxious moments before completing their half-centuries. Dravid was on 28 when he edged a short-pitched d

"National Award is about making all those guys proud who've stood by me" - Arjun Rampal

Image
Arjun Rampal is sitting quietly with his wife Meher in his mammoth balcony. Then he gets a beep on his mobile and tries to reach for the phone kept on his coffee table. His eyes pop out. Meher gets a bit worried by seeing the expression on her husband's face. He gets up and replies to the text and awaits the reply from the sender. Meher again asks, "What's the matter?" And yes, the second time around, Arjun had to answer. "I've just won the National Award ”. Both start yelling and screaming, jumping with joy. It was the afternoon they'll cherish for the rest of their lives. God Bless! But hey, the excitement wasn't limited to them two. On the same night, Arjun invited some of his close friends to be a part in his celebration for winning the highest honour in the field of acting. Says Prakash, "When I heard Arjun had won the National award for Rock On , I was ecstatic. He is fantastic in my film. But it's Ranbir I'm most hopeful about. Kangna, Farhan, Arjun, Madhur on their National Award triumph

Image
Kangna Ranaut's parents burst into tears when they heard their daughter had won the National award for best supporting actress in Fashion at the 56th National Awards announced on Saturday. Said Kangna on Saturday, "There's a mini-celebration in my house, though my parents were crying when they heard about it. At 23, I seem to have cracked the highest cultural award for the country. What more can I do? I should just pack up and go back to my home in Himachal now with my parents." Kangna was also very happy for her co-star Priyanka Chopra who is the USA. "I messaged her to say how happy I was for both of us." Equally euphoric was the mood at Arjun Rampal's home. "I didn't know about me winning the National award for Rock On until the executive producer of my new under-production film Stepmom called and told me to put on the television. Winning a National Award is a dream come true. It's also scary because now I've to go further up the s

"I'll be biting my fingers till I go to the Rashtrapati Bhavan" - Priyanka Chopra

Image
I can recall my London days today. After the screening of Fashion , I immediately called Madhur Bhandarkar and asked him to connect me to Priyanka Chopra. It was around 9 pm when I got a call from Madhur, and a voice from the other end of the receiver said, "Hello Devansh. Hope you liked the film." My answer, "There is some magic, either in Priyanka or in the ramp. The ramp gets you the Miss World crown and the same ramp gets you the best ever role you've played ever since you've made your debut. What a coincidence! Today I say that there is a similarity between Madhur's Fashion and Priyanka's style. Both possess quality. Priyanka is the unforgettable, ultimate accessory of Fashion that heralds your arrival and prolongs your departure." In the same breath, I continue, "It deserves a five star"....and the rest they say is history! And the moment you're disconnected with her, this starts - We can't believe that body. Look how beaut

Cutting the cable cord is harder than it looks

Image
One of the big topics at this month’s CES show in Las Vegas was “cord cutting” — customers dropping their cable or satellite subscriptions, as they previously dropped their telephone lines. I have been without a wired telephone connection for five years now. Everyone in the family now has their own phone, which they keep with them. But while this cord cutting has made life more convenient it hasn’t grown cheaper. I pay about $150/month, which is just about what I previously paid for my wireline phone and long distance calls. It’s also less convenient — I have to fire up my Netbook and Google Talk if I want to communicate outside the country. The cost improvement of cutting the cord, in other words, can be marginal. Michael Greeson of The Diffusion Group thinks it may work out the same way with pay television . Both sides will lose. Cable TV operators certainly think so. Their name for people who cut their cable service and get all their video over the Internet is parasites . (The

Automated tools in SEO- will they work well?

Search engine optimization is a tried and tested means to improve inbound traffic to a site. It is an unpaid method to obtain a place in the search engine results pages. There are numerous techniques to improve traffic to one’s site including link building. Automated tools come to the rescue of the search engine optimizer at this point. The search engines index the sites based on various factors, which are collectively considered in the search algorithm. There is no perfect automation tool to leverage all the factors in the algorithm. But, there are tools to perform search engine optimization more effectively.
